Rao, a beastman unfamiliar with standard measurements, returns to Su Qinglan seeking work. Su Qinglan offers him a generous amount of food in exchange for farm labor, explaining her vision for a division of labor. She plans to hire weaker beastmen for farming tasks, allowing the stronger hunters to focus on their primary roles. This would free up resources and time, eventually leading to surplus food for trade and the growth of Dragon Beast City.

Over the next several days, Rao proved to be an exceptionally good worker. He took his new duties seriously, watering the fields every morning, meticulously pulling weeds, and keeping a watchful eye on the wooden fences.

Even though a few of the larger, arrogant beastmen occasionally threw dismissive glances or made snide remarks about his tiny size, Rao was not demotivated in the slightest.

Why would he care about a few silly looks? He was getting a massive amount of free, delicious food for his pregnant wives!

Besides, no one actually dared to cause real trouble for him. Everyone knew he had been personally hired by Su Qinglan herself.

In Dragon Beast City, Su Qinglan’s status was practically akin to that of the City Lord. Crossing her or messing with her worker was something no sane beastman would dare to do.

Everything was running smoothly and peacefully until one afternoon, when a large, bustling convoy arrived at the main gates of Dragon Beast City.

It was the trade delegation from the East Sea...the tribe belonging to Lan Yue’s second beast husband!

They had returned bearing an enormous shipment of salt to trade.

Upon hearing the news, Su Qinglan, accompanied by her beast husbands, the City Lord, and several city elders, immediately went out to welcome them.

Tang Wu’s younger brother was also among the arriving group. The moment he stepped into the city and heard from the guards that his sister-in-law and brother had recently welcomed a tiny fry, his eyes went wide.

He immediately dropped his heavy baggage, abandoned all his trading duties without a second thought, and bolted full-speed towards Tang Wu’s house just to get a glimpse of his new nephew!

Su Qinglan watched his vanishing, excited figure, and a sudden wave of melancholy washed over her.

They are already here...

That meant Lan Yue and her family would be leaving soon, right? After all, the day of their departure had finally arrived.

Su Qinglan softly closed her eyes, pushing the rising sadness back down into her heart.

Deep down, she knew it was inevitable. They couldn’t stay forever. Besides, if she ever missed her little sister, she could simply travel to visit them.

Han Jue, standing right besides her, caught the subtle flicker of sadness in her eyes. Understanding her thoughts instantly, he reached out, gently squeezing her hand in quiet comfort.

"Let’s go check the salt," he murmured softly, nudging her attention back to the bustling crowd.

Su Qinglan nodded, forcing a bright smile back onto her face as they walked over. There were several familiar, friendly faces in the sea tribe’s convoy, and they exchanged warm greetings and cheerful small talk.

However, when Su Qinglan finally turned her gaze towards the actual goods they had brought, her lips twitched violently.

It was so much salt.

Stacked in massive, neat rows were nearly five hundred heavy bags of refined white salt!

Su Qinglan stared at the towering mountain of sacks, completely stunned. Just how much salt had her method produced over the months?!

The sea tribe’s elder warrior, a burly man with a thick sea-salty beard, scratched his chin and grinned widely at her.

"Sister Qinglan! This is our first trip back since winter ended," he said proudly, his voice booming.

"We’ve been making salt non-stop for months! We used it very sparingly back home, but we still ended up with this much. We didn’t dare trade a single grain of this special salt with any other tribe...we saved every last bag especially for you!"

As he spoke, his bright eyes shone with eager anticipation, practically begging for her praise like a large, loyal hound.

Su Qinglan couldn’t help but smile brightly. "You all have worked so hard! This is truly amazing, thank you!"

Before the sea beastman could savour her praise, an icy glare pierced right through him.

Han Jue was standing right besides Su Qinglan, his dark eyes narrowed into dangerous slits, fuming silently.

Is this guy talking way too much? Why is he looking for praise and sweet words from MY female?!

Han Jue glared at the burly man with pure hostility, expecting the fellow to back off.

Instead, the sea beastman casually glanced at Han Jue, completely ignored his terrifying death stare, and turned right back to smile warmly at Su Qinglan.

Han Jue’s temper instantly flared, his chest puffing up as he fumed even harder.

Noticing her beast husband practically vibrating with jealousy, Su Qinglan didn’t even turn her head.

She simply maintained her pleasant smile, shifted her weight, and lifted her foot...bringing her heel down firmly right onto Han Jue’s toes!

’Control yourself,’ her serene expression practically screamed.

Han Jue froze, his eyes widening in shock from the sudden crush on his foot. He instantly bit back a squeak, deflating on the spot, and began to sulk even more besides her.

On the other hand, Manis ran all the way to Lan Yue’s house. This was not his first time visiting Dragon Beast City...

It was actually his third time. He had travelled here before to visit Aunt Wang Mulan, so he was quite familiar with the streets.

However, as he looked around at the paths that were both familiar and unfamiliar, he clicked his tongue in pure amazement.

How did the houses here become so big?! he wondered, staring in shock.

There were even two-storey structures! Were these gigantic houses built for those massive land beasts, like the giant elephant beastmen? They didn’t look like ordinary, rough mountain caves at all!

What amazed him even more was the sheer number of cubs running around the entire city.

Several tiny cubs suddenly came hurtling towards him like little hyperactive chicks, scrambling around his ankles before darting away. Manis froze, terrified that his heavy footsteps might accidentally crush one of them.

Where did all these little cubs come from? he thought, completely bewildered.

Cubs are so precious! What kind of crazy parents just let their babies run wild in the streets like this?!

Shaking his head in disbelief, he hurried down the road until he finally spotted his brother Tang Wu’s house. Without waiting a second, he pounded loudly on the door.
