Rong Yanchen ambushed Su Qinglan, injuring her and abducting her despite her attempts to signal for help. He revealed knowledge of her plant-based abilities and took her to a cave outside the city, inquiring about her due date and menacingly suggesting he would eliminate her cubs before taking her.

Rong Yanchen casually intercepted the flying stone with a single hand, then advanced toward her with deliberate, unhurried steps.

His movements exuded a palpable, dangerous aura that seemed to thicken the very air within the confines of the cave.

He lightly rubbed the side of his neck, a clear remembrance of the injury she had inflicted earlier, and surveyed her disheveled state, his eyes darkening.

Her attire was rumpled, sweat glistened on her brow, and her cheeks burned red with fury, yet he found her appearance only enhanced her allure, making her appear even more captivating.

For a fleeting instant, Rong Yanchen harbored a strong desire to seize her and press his lips against hers forcefully, a desperate attempt to silence her incessant stream of curses.

However, he managed to restrain himself with careful consideration, knowing that ample opportunities would present themselves in the future.

At this immediate juncture, the paramount objective was ensuring her safe return to Fox Beast City. Once they were within the boundaries of his domain, no one would possess the capability to wrest her from his grasp.

With this thought solidifying in his mind, Rong Yanchen’s gaze sharpened slightly. He had meticulously laid numerous plans in advance, with particular attention devoted to one specific individual.

Others held no significance to him whatsoever, but that particular man—that menacing presence—was an entirely different matter.

Rong Yanchen had already orchestrated several contingency measures designed to impede and occupy that individual for an extended period.

Provided his strategies unfolded as intended, he was certain to bring Su Qinglan back with him successfully.

Meanwhile, Su Qinglan remained positioned several paces away, observing him with wariness, her mind racing through a multitude of possibilities. She understood intuitively that this man was exceedingly perilous, far more so than she had initially conceived.

Not only was his power terrifyingly immense, but he also possessed knowledge that he ought not to have had access to. This alone instilled within her a profound and steadily growing sense of disquiet.

The entirety of the day slowly ebbed away within the gloom of the cave, and Su Qinglan’s internal turmoil intensified with each successive second.

Her fingers engaged in continuous, unconscious fidgeting as she leaned against the chilling stone wall, her visibly swollen abdomen rising and falling gently while her brow remained fixed in a deep furrow.

Periodically, her gaze would drift towards Rong Yanchen’s form as he moved in and out of the cave like a specter burdened by untold secrets.

At times, he would vanish for considerable durations, only to reappear unexpectedly, his handsome visage now bearing the same inscrutable expression, causing Su Qinglan’s heart to grow progressively colder.

She could distinctly perceive that this man was orchestrating a grand scheme.

On multiple occasions, she detected faint murmurs emanating from beyond the cave's entrance whenever he returned. It was evident that others were assisting him.

Each time she attempted to cautiously approach the cave's opening, Rong Yanchen’s piercing gaze would instantly lock onto her, compelling her to halt her movement.

That man observed her every action with the vigilance of a predator guarding its quarry. This constricting sensation fueled Su Qinglan’s immense irritation.

Her hands instinctively found their way to her stomach, where she silently offered reassurance to the unborn lives within.

"Be good... don’t make an appearance just yet..."

Her voice was exceedingly soft, carrying a subtle tremor.

She fervently dreaded contemplating the potential ramifications should she unexpectedly go into labor in this very location.

The cave was frigid, unfamiliar, and intrinsically fraught with peril.

Most critically, the individual in her proximity was Rong Yanchen—a complete madman whose thoughts defied any possibility of prediction.

Despite his repeated assurances that he would refrain from harming her, Su Qinglan placed no faith in a single utterance that escaped his lips.

Not even one word.

Her heart grew heavier with each passing thought, deepening her despair.

By this point, she reasoned, Hu Yan, Xuan Long, Shi Feng, Han Jue, and indeed everyone else would have undoubtedly realized her absence.

Perhaps they were already scouring Dragon Beast City with frantic desperation. The mere thought of their potential expressions upon discovering her vanishing act sent a sharp pang of anguish through her chest.

Shi Feng, in particular.

He had remained stationed outside Yue Lian’s residence for the entire duration. Upon realizing that something was amiss, he must have been overwhelmed by self-recrimination.

Su Qinglan pressed her lips together tightly, her eyes swimming with a profound sense of guilt.

"Foolish..." she whispered under her breath, uncertain whether her admonishment was directed at Rong Yanchen or herself.

How could she have entered the house with such carelessness?

Why had she lowered her defenses?

She was keenly aware of the world's inherent dangers, yet she had willingly walked into a trap while carrying her unborn cubs.

The more she reflected on her actions, the greater her frustration became.

At that precise moment, the sound of approaching footsteps once again echoed from the exterior.

Su Qinglan’s head snapped up abruptly.

Shortly thereafter, Rong Yanchen re-entered the cave. His imposing figure momentarily obscured the entrance before he proceeded to step inside.

His dark robes bore the faint chill of the outside air, and his handsome features maintained that maddeningly composed demeanor, as if every element was precisely under his command.

His gaze immediately found its way to her.

"You’re still awake?" he inquired casually.

Su Qinglan met his look with a cold, withering glare.

"How can I possibly sleep with a madman staring at me?"

A soft chuckle escaped Rong Yanchen upon hearing her sharp retort.

Far from angering him, her words seemed to amuse him. He advanced slowly, then crouched before her, his dark eyes intently examining her pale yet beautiful countenance.

"You truly have a fiery temper," he remarked with a languid tone.

"And you truly deserve to die," Su Qinglan shot back without hesitation.

Rong Yanchen’s gaze sharpened slightly, yet the smile gracing his lips only widened rather than fading.

"You know," he began, his voice dropping to a low hum, "if others dared to speak to me in such a manner, they would already be deceased."

Su Qinglan let out an immediate, derisive sneer.

"Then why don't you kill me too?"

A momentary silence descended upon the cave.

Rong Yanchen’s intense gaze was fixed upon her before it drifted down once more to her abdomen. A darkness fell over his eyes as he observed her swollen belly, a dangerous glint appearing within them.

"As I've already stated," he murmured softly, "I require you to remain alive."

Su Qinglan’s expression instantly soured.

She despised the way he looked at her.

As if she were already his property.

As if victory were already his.

Her fingernails dug fiercely into her palms, fury surging within her chest. If not for the unborn cubs within her womb, she would have engaged this scoundrel in a desperate battle already.

Even if defeating him were impossible, she would at least manage to tear a piece of flesh from him.

Abruptly, Rong Yanchen extended his hand towards her face, his clear intention being to caress her cheek.

However, Su Qinglan sharply turned her head away.

"Do not touch me."

Her voice was laced with an extreme chill.

Rong Yanchen’s outstretched hand faltered in mid-air for a brief instant before he slowly retracted it. His expression finally darkened a notch, though he quickly masked it once more.

"You truly only know how to provoke my anger," he stated quietly.

Su Qinglan responded with a cold, mirthless laugh.

"And you truly only know how to disgust others."

The atmosphere immediately grew taut once again.

Yet, to Su Qinglan’s surprise, Rong Yanchen did not erupt in fury. Instead, he calmly rose to his feet and turned back towards the cave’s entrance.

"We depart tonight," he announced suddenly.

Su Qinglan’s heart lurched erratically.

Depart tonight?

Her expression transformed in an instant.

"Where are you taking me?" she demanded.

Rong Yanchen, however, offered no immediate reply. He merely angled his body slightly, his sharp profile dimly illuminated by the faint cave light.

Then, his cold voice reverberated slowly through the cavern.

"To a place where no one will ever be able to take you from me."
