CLEAVER OF SIN Chapter 812: Lazy Personality [GT Ranking Bonus - ]
Previously on CLEAVER OF SIN...
Asher sat on one of the boulders within the upper floor of the cavern. At this moment, silence consumed everything within it, as the only thing that seemed constant was the overwhelming stench of blood that choked the air to the point that it could almost be tasted.
On the ground, pools of blood of various colors could be seen, with severed limbs floating upon the crimson lake as it slowly flowed.
Unlike what people might have expected, Asher hardly saw any need to use his skills and abilities on these Emovirae. Unless they were in the thousands or something like that, there was little reason to do so. At this point, overwhelming physical strength and prowess were enough, as he had only used space during the battle for minor conveniences.
Asher stared at the bracelet on his hand as he wanted to see the amount of points he had received from such a massacre. Seeing his point balance, Asher could only laugh at the absurdity of it.
His point balance had increased by a whopping eight hundred and seventy thousand (870,000). It was no different from insanity. The points seemed impossible to acquire; they seemed incomprehensible. Yet he had them.
As for the calculation behind such an outrageous point balance, the math was easy. With over one hundred (100) Rank 5 Emovirae, each giving four thousand (4,000) points minimum, it was impossible not to arrive at such numbers. And this was including the Rank 6 Emovirae that gave as much as seven thousand (7,000) points.
At this moment, Asher’s point balance had almost touched one million, as he was just shy of it.
To be honest, such a number was almost impossible in a competition like the Inter-Empire Competition. After all, who would expect that a student who saw anything less than Rank 7 as an ant actually existed?
Yet, they had thrown him into such a Negative Zone just to mess around a bit and bully a few students.
Only if Asher could understand the shock the world was going through while he stared at this point balance with a smile on his face.
’When I kill Xal’Thar, I hope my points cross into one million,’ Asher thought to himself as he sat there, completely unaffected by the blood.
Although he had thought that, he knew it was impossible unless killing a Rank 7 granted around fifty thousand points.
Asher sighed as he rose to his feet, his purple eyes gazing around the upper floor one last time before he jumped towards the lower floor, which had been destroyed by a beam attack from earlier. Upon reaching that floor, Asher released his control over the upper floor, and with that, the collapse that he had frozen in place through sheer spatial manipulation finally happened.
With that, everything toppled downward in a resounding crash. Stones, bricks, jagged pillars, and sections of roofing all thundered downward in madness as Asher simply walked away as though it had nothing to do with him, stepping into a tunnel where he could sense the ominous presence. The deafening rumble echoed throughout the underground structure for several moments, causing dust and tiny fragments of stone to rain from above as though the entire cavern system was protesting against the destruction that had been inflicted upon it.
Asher didn’t understand the architecture of this place. He had jumped into a pit, then it had become a cavern with an upper floor, while the lower floor also contained tunnels. But he decided not to think too much about it as he made his way toward Xal’Thar.
Within this particular tunnel, flames lit up the walls, illuminating the path ahead. Asher had thought that maybe some sort of trap would come from behind, from the sides, or from any direction, but nothing happened. The tunnel remained eerily silent, with only the faint crackling of fire accompanying his footsteps as he advanced deeper into the unknown.
Asher came before what appeared to be a huge open space, which was also made of rocks, stone, and the like. The whole place was illuminated as various flaming torches adorned the walls.
’Is this guy some sort of king or what?’ Asher thought as his eyes shifted to the side where a huge door stood. Although Asher could now see due to the flames, he dared not remove the Star Energy he used to enhance his sight.
’This seems like a dungeon where a boss-level monster resides,’ Asher mused to himself as he imagined the scene where opening the door and stepping in would cause it to close behind him, preventing him from leaving the boss room.
Asher walked towards the door as he sensed a presence behind it. He didn’t delay. He simply pushed it open, and the massive doors creaked loudly as they swung apart. Asher stepped into the room, if it could even be called that. It was basically a space of its own.
The moment he entered, just as Asher had guessed, the door snapped shut behind him. Whether it could be opened again was unknown. His purple eyes turned and locked onto the being from which he could sense the ominous presence. The next moment, he paused in surprise at what he saw.
Seated upon a chair over two kilometers ahead of him was an Emovira that sat upon what appeared to be a throne. It possessed a human-like physiology, with a single horn protruding from one side of its head, while a tail extended from its back and hung lazily over one of the armrests.
What had made Asher pause wasn’t the presence of the being, no, but what it was doing.
It was sleeping. Soundly even, as one could hear what seemed to be a low snore coming from it.
Another person might have tried to close the distance and kill it once and for all, but Asher wasn’t fooled. Yes, the Emovira was sleeping, but it wasn’t defenseless.
As though finally sensing Asher’s presence, the Emovira lazily opened its eyes, its black gaze meeting Asher’s purple one. The next moment, the Emovira yawned lazily like any normal person who had just woken up from a good sleep or nap.
Asher knew that when Emovirae reached Rank 5, they began to develop their own distinct personalities due to their intelligence, as they were no longer mindless beings that only wanted to kill and kill. But seeing an Emovira with a lazy personality, while also yawning and sleeping, was definitely new to Asher.
Well... the only Emovira with a personality he had ever met was Lior.
"You are finally here," Xal’Thar spoke as he rubbed his groggy eyes. "It seems you had a lot of fun with those young ones outside," he continued as he stretched. "But it doesn’t matter. All I have to do is kill you as those humans instructed, and I will be set free," he added in finality.
Asher wasn’t surprised by Xal’Thar’s words, as he already knew the Inter-Empire Competition had brought the Emovirae here to kill students. This only reinforced Asher’s thoughts that there were definitely staff members responsible for saving students in critical and extreme situations like these.
Well... not that he would be needing it.
