CLEAVER OF SIN Chapter 1226: Scale Of Apocalypse
Previously on CLEAVER OF SIN...
Titanic explosions erupted across the entire Empire, bringing armageddon-level destruction and madness to the Zarethorne Empire. The entire Empire shook as domes spanning various diameters and covering tens of kilometers erupted with cataclysmic ease.
Every single Outpost and Frontier related to any major power was instantly consumed before anyone could even blink. The destruction was maddening as it spread from the borders of the Zarethorne Empire into various Villages and Noble Territories.
The people in these places didn’t even know what had hit them before the explosions reached them and consumed them whole. People turned on their feet and tried to run away, but it was futile. The explosions were too fast, and their range was ridiculous. They consumed everyone and everything in their path.
Men. Children. Women. Tall. Short. Rich. Poor.
Screams erupted across the Empire, cries echoed as people wailed, and tears fell from their eyes as they ran for their lives. Many were burned alive as the explosions didn’t consume them immediately. Some were hurled backward by the shockwaves, their bodies tearing apart under the immense force, their internal organs smashing against walls, buildings, and streets.
Villages were massacred as the Velkarin Empire simply did not give a fuck. They had made their move, and it was a decisive one. Shops were erased, homes melted into molten remains, and buildings turned to cinder and embers. The destruction continued to spread, growing worse with every passing minute.
The carnage was apocalyptic. Horses that tried to flee couldn’t even get far, and the kill count surged into the millions with every passing moment as the scale of the devastation continued to climb.
But it wasn’t just explosions. The Velkarin Empire had mixed poison into the attack. Even if citizens survived the initial blasts, the poisonous air would still kill them. They dropped to their knees and started coughing up blood before their bodies spasmed and they died within three seconds, with the weaker ones dying in even less time.
The poison had been a nice touch. They had planted it near the bombs, knowing that the blast waves and shockwaves from the explosions would carry it even deeper into the Zarethorne Empire.
The Velkarin Empire hadn’t directly targeted the citizens. Even in wars, there were rules; otherwise, it would all descend into total madness. One of those rules stated that citizens who had nothing to do with the battle shouldn’t be attacked. This meant that another Empire couldn’t simply attack a Noble Territory while a war was going on.
But many people always found a way around this rule.
For example, when the Noble Territories of the Zarethorne Empire were attacked almost two years ago, it hadn’t been during a war, so that rule did not apply at that moment.
And at this moment, the Velkarin Empire had planted planet bombs and poisons within the Frontiers and Outposts, not within the Noble Territories themselves. Since the blast radius and destruction reached the outer Zarethorne Empire from the Frontier, it had nothing to do with them. After all, they had ’never’ directly targeted these common folks.
They had simply worked around the rules of war.
The four Empires knew about these loopholes, but none of them corrected them, as they always exploited them to their advantage during every war and skirmish. At this moment, it was the Velkarin Empire’s turn to use these loopholes, and it was the Zarethorne Empire’s turn to experience the carnage and destruction that came with leaving such a gigantic loophole in place.
Of course, not the entire Zarethorne Empire was affected, as it was simply too big. Only Territories and Villages near the borders were caught in the devastation, but that did not change the fact that the death toll had already climbed to one hundred million and was still counting.
Nor did it change the seismic earthquakes that surged through the affected regions, shaking the surrounding lands as the destruction continued.
With various powerhouses living deep within the Zarethorne Empire, their responses were delayed. Even if some Noble Territories managed to react in time, they still needed time to activate their Territory Shields and Barriers, and the explosions hadn’t given them that luxury.
The explosions continued endlessly, creating a cascade of chain reactions as each blast fed into the next, pushing the scale of annihilation even further.
It was as if Crymora had simply had enough of Crownstar Life Rankers destroying millions of kilometers during their battles and had decided to wipe out all of mankind.
Various End-Class Monsters that had been in peaceful slumbers immediately awoke as their territories were affected by the explosions. They rose in pure rage, ready to teach the Zarethorne Empire a lesson, but the moment their eyes focused on the conflict between the two Empires, they smirked and settled back down, fully awake and ready to enjoy the show.
To them, why make a move when they could simply watch their enemies tear each other apart, limb for limb? There was simply no greater sight than that.
And so, numerous End-Class Monsters emerged from their slumbers, becoming spectators of the carnage that was unfolding.
But one could only ask... If the destruction was already this disastrous for the Villages and Territories near the borders and Frontiers, then what state were the Frontiers and Outposts themselves in?
At the various Frontiers, it was total madness and sheer insanity. Soldiers who had served their Empires and Frontiers loyally were wiped out. Buildings crashed into heaps of rubble, while corpses forged the earth itself. The air was thick with the smell of blood, so overwhelming that it felt as though one could suffocate from it alone.
Corpses littered the ground, many burned beyond recognition. Fathers, Mothers, Sons, Daughters, Grandfathers, Grandmothers, all wiped out. There was simply nothing left at these Frontiers, not a single life form, not a single Human, not a single Monster. Literally nothing.
Even those on missions and various assignments weren’t spared, as they too were erased by the blast radius. Everything was left dilapidated, with sinkholes and ravines spreading outwards across the shattered terrain.
But this was the situation at Frontiers without people at the Crownstar Life Rank or even Voidstar Life Rank. Those that had such powerful individuals stationed within them were able to react in time to save some soldiers. But alas, even that was of little use. The explosions came from within the Frontiers and from various directions. How many people could they possibly save?
Even if these soldiers were rescued, one had to remember that there was poison in the air. The poison didn’t care whether one had survived the explosions or escaped the blast radius, as it could enter the body through their skin pores regardless.
The Velkarin Empire had its spies and moles target strategic locations. For example, the Towers responsible for creating barriers and domes over the various Frontiers, along with the Towers used for long-range mechanical and magical attacks.
Every strategic point had been attacked, and its defenses brought down. The huge walls weren’t spared either, as they too had been destroyed.
But looking at the scale of destruction... anyone who knew the plan in advance should ask themselves a question;
If the Velkarin Empire could cause this scale of carnage and apocalypse by acting ahead of schedule, what sort of madness had they originally been planning?
