"I will be fine. The Wargraves are strong, but at the end of the day, they aren’t Omnipotent. If they were, they wouldn’t have all died in one battlefield or another till now."
The Grand Regent replied to the Third Regent’s words with a flat tone and expression, as not a shred of doubt in her own ability and personal power could be seen or detected.
"While I won’t deny that the Wargraves would come for me after I kill Damian, I already prepared a hiding place in advance. And as long as the One Above All, the Bloodline Eraser, and the Ability Hoarder personally don’t make a move, I should be able to hold my own against every other Wargrave."
She continued after a pause, as she recognized the amount of power she personally wielded.
The One Above All being Azaron, as no enemy would love to face such a man. The Bloodline Eraser being Malrik, who was rumoured to be on par with the One Above All. Although she didn’t know how true that was, she would rather not find out with her life on the line. And the Ability Hoarder being Morthern.
As for Morgana Wargrave, she didn’t even consider the woman on her level.
So, as long as the three she listed stayed away, she was confident of a hundred percent win rate against everyone else.
Seeing the confidence of the Grand Regent, the Second Regent and Third Regent shook their heads with a small smile. Just like her, they were both confident in her victory. Yes, they understood she would come out with deep and critical injuries, but a win was a win.
As for the three names the Grand Regent had called earlier, they knew who they were. If this had been an attack on the Wargrave Estate itself, they wouldn’t stand here discussing casually; they would have been paranoid and as cautious as the First Regent.
They could only wonder about the amount of prestige the Grand Regent was about to gain by killing a Wargrave. Although the Wargraves were just humans like everyone else, there was a certain status one gained by simply killing one of them.
But alas, they couldn’t gain the status, as they couldn’t take on Damian Wargrave. They could only take on his henchmen; the Vice Commanders.
"Any updates on the battlefronts? How are they doing on each side?"
The First Regent asked this time around. He wasn’t particularly interested, but was just curious about what was going on out there.
The Grand Regent stayed silent for a moment, then answered in a calm tone.
"I honestly don’t know much myself. The War barely began three months ago. But the last update I received, things are going smoothly. Nobody is gaining the upper hand yet, so things are steady for now."
She stated truthfully with a calm expression as she leaned forward, her eyes shifting towards the files on her table as she continued.
"I guess when we launch a simultaneous attack against all major Frontiers and Outposts, we will gain the upper hand then, since the Zarethorne Empire would be running around to compensate for and contain the losses they suffered."
She stated in finality, a small smile appearing on her lips for the first time since their discussion began.
At her words, the three Regents nodded their heads as they guessed that the vile Emperor was enraged and might be going mad due to the death of his wife and first child, but he was still cunning. Hearing the Grand Regent speak on it simply confirmed their thoughts.
"With the development of the First Regent’s paranoia, I will send letters to the other underground bunkers scattered across the Zarethorne Empire to begin the attack in three weeks."
She added as she leaned back into her seat, a small smile appearing on her lips as she imagined fighting a Wargrave, and a man as powerful as Damian Wargrave.
"If they agree, then we shall move in earnest. If they don’t, we can only wait, as if we launch our attack before the others do, it will only tip off the other Frontiers, and we will be blamed for the incalculable losses we might suffer in such a situation."
The only reason she was ready to send letters to the other underground bunkers was simply because some Soldiers at various bunkers were already getting restless at being discovered. After all, each day and week that passed increased the chances of them being found out.
She snapped out of her imagination of fighting Damian as she addressed her Regents once more.
"Anything else?"
She asked, her eyes shifting towards them.
They shook their heads, as they had nothing else to ask or say. Their curiosity had been satisfied.
"Then you may all leave."
The Grand Regent stated, her eyes shifting towards the door behind them, signalling them to leave already so she could have some alone time and peace of mind.
With that, the three Regents turned and walked away. The moment they stepped outside, smiles broke across their lips at the thought of unleashing a full-scale battle across the entire Zarethorne Empire.
Yes, they believed that the Zarethorne Empire was innocent, and so what? With this War, they would get to stretch their legs and settle old debts and paybacks that they had with the Zarethorne Empire.
Seeing the trio leave, the Grand Regent took out a pen and paper and began to scribble as she prepared the letter she had talked about earlier. She had no need to delay it. It was best to attack earlier than to be discovered.
She folded the paper and slid it into an envelope, sealed it, then took out a lighter from her desk drawer and burned the letter she had just written. Seeing the letter vanish into motes of amber, she kept the lighter, leaned back into her chair, closed her eyes, and waited patiently for a reply and her destined battle.
Asher, who stood at the side, stood speechless and stunned by all he had heard these past few minutes. He had only been gone for a few months, and things had escalated way beyond his original thoughts and imagination.
