Alden and Aemirya reveal their true identities as Dragon envoys. Alden fabricates a story about a dangerous Taboo magic emanating from the academy island, claiming it has already marked everyone in the kingdom. He strong-arms Reynold and his knights into assisting their investigation under threat of death.

The night passed without much trouble.

After amicably signing the terms Alden had so humbly and graciously offered them, Reynold and his knights cried tears of joy and politely escorted Alden and Aemirya back to their separate rooms.

Hell, Reynold was so touched by their benevolence that he even offered Alden his own room, but Alden naturally refused.

He was kind like that, after all. Naturally according to himself.

As for the contract they had signed, it was simple.

They wouldn’t reveal the origins of Alden and Aemirya, and they would help them infiltrate the academy to the best of their capabilities.

After that, Alden and Aemirya had also called it a night.

Waking up in a grand room, Alden let out a long yawn as the memories of last night were still fresh in his mind.

Without wasting much time, he immediately jumped out of bed with renewed vigor and went through his morning routine.

From everything Reynold had told him, along with his discussion with Ruru, it was clear that the kingdom worked on contribution points.

It was basically their local currency.

Alden could simply use Reynold’s contribution points if that was all he needed but according to them, if he wanted to become a professor at the academy, he needed to have some reputation behind his name.

Being the most prestigious academy in the surrounding region, its staff was expected to possess at least some degree of competence and to judge that, the academy looked heavily at reputation.

They were currently looking to recruit a professor for the Combat Class but for positions like that, their eyes were mostly set on adventurers.

Reynold had promised that as long as Alden could climb the ranks and become an S-Rank adventurer, he would take care of everything else.

Not to mention, doing so would also make Alden seem far less suspicious during the academy’s background check.

As soon as Alden closed the door behind him, Aemirya was already standing in the hallway, her horn hidden once again beneath her disguise.

She wore a white blouse with long sleeves that cinched at her wrists in delicate ruffles. Over it sat a fitted black leather corset, while a flowing black skirt fell from her waist.

This was what most ladies in this kingdom seemed to wear.

As for Alden, he wore a plain white shirt with black trousers and a long coat.

Men’s outfits were crazy simple, no matter the civilisation.

"Took you long enough, Princess. Did the makeup take too long?" Aemirya asked without much change in her expression.

Ever since they had escaped from the Dragon Continent, her personality had changed quite a bit. She had started joking around far more than before.

"Yeah, how could I possibly present myself in such a pathetic condition before MY QUEEN?"

Alden replied in the same sarcastic tone.

Aemirya rolled her eyes but didn’t say anything.

After a short exchange of banter, the two of them walked toward the dining room. Reynold was already there with Ruru, having breakfast.

Ruru’s face immediately brightened with happiness as she greeted both of them cheerfully.

"Good morning, Damien. Good morning, Lumyn."

Alice, her personal maid who stood behind her, also gave them a slight nod as Alden and Aemirya took their seats at the table.

Ruru kept going on and on about all the things she wanted to show Alden and Aemirya. Meanwhile, Reynold remained calm, merely nodding and chuckling awkwardly here and there.

Only after Alden and Aemirya promised to let her show them around later that evening and after she finished her breakfast, did Ruru finally get up and leave for her literature classes.

He dismissed all the servants before turning toward Alden,

"I apologize for my daughter, Sir Damien."

"No worries. She is quite cheerful." Alden replied with a smile. "In any case, have you investigated everything needed for me to infiltrate the academy?"

Reynold’s eyes turned sharp.

"Yes, sir. As I said yesterday, the first criterion is being an adventurer, and that is something you can achieve without much trouble as long as you are careful."

"But..."

He hesitated as a frown appeared on Alden’s face.

He had learned that much from experience, and already, an ominous feeling was creeping up on him.

"But what?"

"I dug deeper through some of my connections and found out that they are quite strict in certain regards. Especially when it comes to background checks."

Reynold continued, sneaking a glance at Aemirya before looking back at Alden.

"And because the two of you appeared so suddenly, that is the only thing that could cause some trouble."

"So, there’s no way to infiltrate as a professor? Do we have no choice but to find some other way?"

It wasn’t as if they couldn’t simply brute-force their way inside but Alden wanted to avoid such troublesome methods.

After all, he had a whole damn army of Dragons after him who wanted nothing more than to tear him in half.

"It’s not that there is no way."

Reynold paused for a moment.

"I researched various documents throughout the night, sacrificing my sleep to understand everything that could help you with your task."

He continued in the same reluctant tone.

"And although the kingdom is quite strict when it comes to a person’s identity and background, there is one loophole where they will approve such a background and even issue an official identity."

"Oho! And what is that?!"

Alden was amused.

He wondered what kind of solution Reynold had managed to find as even Aemirya looked over curiously.

"Although the kingdom is strict, they are quite lenient toward newly married couples who register their marriage here. They even provide various benefits, especially when one or both partners are adventurers. And one of those benefits includes citizenship."

"What are you getting at?!"

Alden’s ominous feeling intensified as Reynold finally spoke the words he had been dreading.

"You two would have to get married."
