Chronicles of Forgotten Extra Chapter 355: The Great BoomBoom Incident and the Art of Swindling Dragons.

"Answer me, human. Have you perhaps seen a certain half-breed dragon with a single horn around this area?" There was no hostility in his tone as he narrowed his eyes. "If you answer honestly, I might grant you a less painful death."
Alden looked at the edgy man who had just arrived.
The power radiating from him was at the peak of Ascendant rank and the aura he gave off was definitely stronger than what Aemirya had, meaning the chances he could take on the guy alone were abysmal.
He looked at the man calmly as his mind raced.
"I shall answer your question, oh pitiful dragon who mistook me for a human." He said, making his voice as dramatic as possible.
A frown appeared on the dragon’s face.
"Mistook?" He said in amusement. "You are saying you are not a human?"
Alden looked at him, chest puffed and gaze cold and arrogant as he uttered whatever words came to his mind.
"Yes, oh pitiful dragon. I am not some mere human as you have mistaken. My true form is enough to blind you poor fools, so I hide within this pitiful shell to guide you younglings who visit my domain once in a while."
He said, lips curling into a smile as he activated his Eye of Supreme. Although he knew the effect wouldn’t work on the dragon before him, since he was clearly stronger than his current broken body, it was enough to engulf the area with a hidden pressure and sell his lie.
"Has Bazooka not informed you younglings of my presence in this sacred land?"
The dragon before him frowned slightly. Although he was smart enough to understand that the boy seemed human from every angle, that confidence and the way he casually spoke the Dragon Queen’s name were enough to make him question his own senses.
So, he decided to be cautious.
"Who are you, then?"
He asked, still arrogant as before, though slightly more restrained now.
"Me? I am he who supped upon the beasts of the First Dawn, he who wandered the hallowed realms adorned by naught but the blessings of the heavens, he who cast his will upon the sun and summoned the sacred shadow, he whose yearning remained unquenched through the march of ages."
"I am BoomBoom!"
At this point, Alden was speedrunning how to bullshit with a straight face. Though everything he said was technically true, they were merely grander ways of saying that he ate dinosaurs, roamed the land naked, controlled eclipses and was hungry as fuck.
The dragon in front of him narrowed his eyes, the frown on his face deepening further. He seemed about to say something but before he could—
"I see you still doubt this great lord. Have you younglings been taught naught but arrogance these days?" He said coldly. "But as ignorant as you are, I, in my benevolence, shall grant you proof of my existence."
"Close your eyes, oh youngling. I shall reveal my true form to you. My presence shall waver and, at times, depart from your senses entirely but do not open them until I say so. Otherwise, the consequences your soul shall suffer will not be mine to bear."
The dragon was still suspicious, but he thought, what was the worst that could happen? If he was still merely a human and as weak as he sensed, he could easily defend against any sneak attack.
But if he truly was some great being as he claimed...
Then he would have spared himself from that being’s wrath.
So he nodded slowly and closed his eyes.
Immediately, the pressure surrounding him fluctuated wildly before vanishing completely for a few moments.
The dragon, Vareth, still did not open his eyes and waited patiently.
Seconds passed.
Then minutes.
Still, he heard neither the being’s voice nor felt any attack aimed at him.
Only after ten whole minutes did Vareth cautiously open his eyes and look toward where that being had stood.
It was empty.
"...."
A vein popped on Vareth’s forehead as he finally realised what had happened.
The bastard had run.
Ten minutes.
He had stood there with his eyes closed for ten whole minutes, and the bastard had the audacity to scam him and run away?
"How dare he humiliate me like that?!"
He could no longer contain his anger.
With a burst of shockwave, his body expanded rapidly before he transformed into a pure white dragon and began his rampage, trying to sense the presence of that swindler.
All thoughts of eliminating his cousin-sister vanished from his mind. Right now, all he wanted was to skin the bastard who dared to humiliate him, alive.
***
"Holy shit! That was close."
Alden was running through the forest like a madman, his body flashing past the tall trees as he headed in the direction Aemirya had flown off to.
"Thank god that guy was smart."
Alden muttered, his legs never slowing.
He knew his bluff had only worked because that guy had been smart enough to be cautious. Had it been some reckless brute, he would have attacked first and thought later.
Still, Alden wasn’t relieved in the slightest.
From what he understood from their little encounter, that bastard dragon was quite good at sensing presence.
Right on cue, the forest behind him erupted into flames as a massive dragon rose into the sky, shooting dragon breath in random directions wildly.
"Fuck! I thought it would at least take him longer to figure it out."
Alden immediately increased his speed because if there was only one thing more dangerous than a stronger dragon, it was a humiliated, stronger, arrogant dragon that wanted nothing more than to kill him.
Alden felt relieved knowing that. He increased his speed even further, aware that the only way to survive for now was to find Aemirya and eliminate that bastard before the bastard killed him.
Unfortunately for Alden, he had just jinxed himself.
"Found you, you little rat!"
A voice thundered through the sky as from several kilometres away, the dragon had finally found him.
Looking at the enraged dragon flying towards him, only one thought echoed in his mind.
