Zuo Jia and Fu rongting went fishing, enjoying a sweet day. Jing Xi and Lou Ziling also went fishing, with Jing Xi playfully cheating to help her husband win. Later, as Fu rongting cooked, Zuo Jia expressed her insecurities about his past relationships. He reassured her, confessing his love and commitment. Their happy life together was interrupted when Fu rongting had to leave for a month-long mission, causing Zuo Jia great distress.

Zuo Jia's tears flowed even more intensely. Though their separation was slated for only a month, it felt akin to an eternal parting.

Nevertheless, no amount of her weeping could detain Fu Rongting from his departure.

Once he was gone, Zuo Jia felt as if her very soul had been spirited away with him.

Had the assignment not been situated overseas, she might have followed without a second thought, disregarding all consequences.

In the past, her affection for Lou Ziling brought her joy, and she didn't consider it a significant issue if they couldn't meet. However, her feelings for Fu Rongting were entirely different.

While seeing Fu Rongting brought her contentment, his absence left her utterly desolate, unable to bear the emptiness.

True love, when coupled with profound longing, could indeed induce a severe ailment – lovesickness.

Zuo Jia perceived her condition as quite grave. She lacked the energy for any activity and had lost her appetite, desiring only to sleep. In her dreams, she could still see Fu Rongting, a stark contrast to her solitary wakefulness.

Witnessing her daughter's dejected state, Xi Ying decided to bring her home.

Their residence was modest, and the presence of Xi Guohua and Zuo Jia made it somewhat cramped.

Despite the lack of space, no one found it inconvenient. Zuo Jia's intense yearning for Fu Rongting subsided somewhat when she was home, alleviating her loneliness, yet a prevailing absentmindedness persisted. Her eating habits also changed; she no longer showed the same vigor in finishing her meals.

This turn of events caused Guohua immense anxiety. He was profoundly grateful to still be alive, fearing he wouldn't find peace if his granddaughter remained in such a state!

He resolved to maintain his health and strive to live for several more years!

Zuo Jia's "lovesickness" worsened with each passing day, leaving her feeling unwell constantly. She alternated between sleeping and being lost in a daze. One day, mustering the strength to prepare a meal, she accidentally cut her finger.

Guohua was so alarmed that he forbade her from entering the kitchen!

For Zuo Jia, the month stretched into an eternity. In Fu Rongting's absence, she suddenly realized she possessed no photographs of him on her phone!

Even the thought of him was becoming an elusive memory.

Zuo Jia awoke early one morning and sat at the dining table. Upon seeing the golden, fragrant fried dough sticks, she clapped a hand over her mouth and rushed to the bathroom, vomiting uncontrollably.

Xi Guohua, consumed by worry, even dropped his chopsticks. He hurried into the bathroom, patting his cherished granddaughter's back, his heart aching. "Jiajia, let's go to the hospital! If this continues, are we going to lose you?"

Xi Ying and Zuo Yan also approached. The couple exchanged glances, and Xi Ying hesitantly inquired, "Jiajia, you aren't... pregnant, are you?"

Zuo Jia, in the midst of rinsing her mouth, froze at her mother's question.

It dawned on her... she hadn't had her period in quite some time.

However, her intense longing for Fu Rongting had caused her to overlook this detail.

The possibility was indeed real!

"Mom, let's go to the hospital immediately!"

The entire family rejoiced, especially Guohua. He patted Zuo Jia's head, marveling at how swiftly time had passed. The little girl of yesteryear was on the verge of becoming a mother!

Their trip to the hospital yielded swift results.

Zuo Jia was indeed pregnant!

Xi Ying's smile radiated delight. "Oh, you scared us half to death! You haven't wanted to eat lately, and you've been sleeping so much, we thought you were ill! So it's a joyous occasion!"

Zuo Jia's pale complexion was now tinged with happiness. "We're going to have a baby so soon?" I was too careless and didn't even notice!"

She yearned to share the news with Fu Rongting immediately!

He was going to be a father!

Upon their return home, Zuo Jia was treated with the utmost care, like a national treasure.

Zuo Yan insisted she cease working, and Xi Ying engaged a professional nutritionist. Even her simple desire to take a walk was met with Xi Guohua's close supervision.

He was practically hovering over her every move!

However, two days later, when Fu Rongting returned, Zuo Jia was practically being hand-fed!

Fu Rongting had returned to City W via an army helicopter, intending to surprise Zuo Jia. He had not informed her that his mission had concluded ahead of schedule.

He surmised that Zuo Jia would likely be staying with her parents, so he proceeded directly to the residential area where Zuo Yan and his wife lived.

The neighborhood was lush with greenery. Stray cats lounged lazily in the sun on the lawn. A young woman sat beside them, gently offering them cat food. An elderly man stood behind her, his gaze frequently drifting towards her, as if fearing she might vanish if he looked away.

Fu Rongting's eyes softened with affection. He approached slowly and called out softly, "Jiajia!"

Zuo Jia's body tensed. She lifted her head, her eyes widening in disbelief as she looked at the man in the military uniform.

“What’s wrong? We haven’t seen each other for 25 days. Don’t you recognize me anymore?”

Zuo Jia felt as though she were in a dream!

But even if it was merely a dream, she unhesitatingly threw herself into his embrace, tears streaming down her face. “Rong Ting, is that really you? Is it truly you?”

Fu Rong Ting held Zuo Jia’s slender form, bestowing kisses upon her cheek and forehead. He answered her in a low voice, “It’s me. I have returned. Did you miss me?”

Zuo Jia nodded vigorously, crying like an aggrieved child. “I want to!”

“I missed you too. I’ve been missing you every single day, to the point of madness!” Fu Rong Ting softly declared.

Guohua observed the young couple, whispering intimately, and then departed with a smile.

Look how discerning his eyesight is!

He knew Fu Rong Ting was dependable!

The Fu family is one of great loyalty. With Fu Rong Ting looking after Zuo Jia, she was bound to lead a stable and joyful existence.

His grandson-in-law had returned. He must hurry back swiftly to inform Xi Ying to prepare more dishes for their midday meal, uncork a fine bottle of wine, and revel in his contentment!

Oh, wait, he couldn't partake in drinking at the moment.

Never mind, he would simply sip fruit juice as if it were wine.

Zuo Jia remained oblivious to the departure of the elder, as all her thoughts were fixated on Fu Rong Ting.

Fu Rong Ting had indeed noticed, but Xi Guohua clearly intended not to intrude upon their reunion, granting them their private moment, and thus, he remained silent.

Gently, he wiped away Zuo Jia’s tears and caressed her chin. “How have you become so thin? Have you not been eating properly?”

He had harbored concerns that Zuo Jia’s obsessive-compulsive disorder might resurface in his absence, compelling her to consume all remaining food. Yet, it now appeared she must have eaten exceedingly little in recent days. Even her chin had become sharp, and her face seemed smaller.

Zuo Jia gazed at Fu Rong Ting before her, reluctant to even blink. She feared that a single blink might cause him to vanish like a nighttime dream.

She pinched Fu Rong Ting’s face, touched his arm, and pressed her ear against his chest to discern his heartbeat. After a moment, she exclaimed, “It’s real!”

Fu Rong Ting felt an urge to laugh, yet an inexplicable ache resonated within his heart.

He lowered his head, pressing his lips against Zuo Jia’s, eagerly entwining with hers.

Fu Rong Ting did not cease until Zuo Jia felt a sense of pleasant disorientation from the kiss. He then spoke in a magnetic voice, “Silly girl, do you still believe you are dreaming?”
