Lou Ziling struggles with a business problem and seeks help from Zuo Jia, who previously assisted him. Despite Zuo Jia’s nervousness and her husband’s potential reaction, Lou Ziling offers her money and future dividends for her help. Zuo Jia accepts the card, but her feelings for Lou Ziling turn to bitterness as she realizes his cold nature. Meanwhile, Fu Rongting receives photos of Zuo Jia and Lou Ziling, along with a call from Wu Wei, who admits to orchestrating the situation out of jealousy.

Though Fu Rongting proved elusive, Wu Wei was no longer the same person she once was. Not every man possessed Fu Rongting's iron will, treating beauty as mere dust and remaining unmoved by its allure. Wu Wei, however, became the cherished companion of many. Her newfound wealth wasn't just confined to a luxurious villa; she achieved overnight riches, her influence growing to a significant degree. Her unparalleled skill in spinning honeyed words was unmatched by anyone.

When a beautiful woman dedicates everything, regardless of the cost, and employs ruthless tactics to seize her desires, the resulting rewards can be utterly astonishing.

Wu Wei possessed an abundance of power and wealth; all she craved was a young, handsome man who genuinely loved her.

Having spent so long catering to elderly men, the mere sight of them now filled her with disgust. Deep within her heart, she found herself increasingly drawn to tall, young men like Fu Rongting.

Envy gnawed at her when she thought of Zuo Jia and Jing Xi. Merely due to their fortunate family backgrounds, these two had experienced lives akin to cherished princesses. Meanwhile, she was relegated to being the plaything of an old man, never to see the light of day! On what grounds could this disparity exist?

Her resolve hardened: she would shatter their happiness!

She was fully aware that Fu Rongting harbored no affection for her, but this fact did not bother her in the least. Her greatest source of pleasure stemmed from dismantling the happiness of others.

After deliberately provoking Fu Rongting, Wu Wei ended the call and promptly dispatched the photograph to Jing Xi.

She had already discovered that Lou Ziling was, in fact, Li Xiao. Not only was Li Xiao not disfigured, but he was also perfectly healthy and remarkably handsome!

Lou Ziling returned home, and Jing Xi greeted him with her usual warm smile. "Are you busy with work today?"

"It's alright."

"If you're swamped, perhaps take a short break. Don't overexert yourself!"

"I won’t."

"Did you happen to charm any pretty girls today? Perhaps go on a date with a beauty?"

"Certainly not! In all the world, who else could possibly be considered a beauty besides you?"

Lou Ziling made a conscious decision to conceal his encounter with Zuo Jia, fearing that revealing it would lead to Jing Xi's misunderstanding.

Jing Xi let out a soft snort and then presented her phone, displaying the picture she had received. "Lou Ziling, have you begun to master the art of deception? You were so close to Zuo Jia, and yet you still dare to embrace her?"

Lou Ziling glanced at her phone, a sense of helplessness washing over him. "Who sent you this picture? I was merely helping her up. When exactly did I embrace her?"

"The sender of this photograph also sent me a text message. They claimed to be your lover! How many temptresses have you been seducing while I'm pregnant?" Jing Xi pouted, her eyes welling up with hurt and a hint of tears.

Lou Ziling swiftly pulled her into an embrace, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Silly girl, do you truly believe such a thing? My days are typically consumed by work at the company, and I rush home to be with you as soon as I'm done. Where would I possibly find the time to get involved with others? Even if I had the time, I have no interest. Don't let your imagination run wild; be good."

"You're lying! You went to see Zuo Jia today! Just look at those photos, they appear so intimate!"

"I visited her today for the sole purpose of giving her money and securing her services for my company. There's no other relationship between us."

Lou Ziling took Jing Xi's phone, examining the photos and the accompanying message with care. "How did this individual obtain your phone number? These pictures were taken from remarkably advantageous angles, making it exceedingly easy to provoke misconceptions. I suspect this person has been meticulously planning this for a considerable time." Indeed, Jing Xi found it hard to believe that Lou Ziling would seek companionship elsewhere behind her back; their connection ran too deep for casual interlopers.

"Then why didn't you admit it when I asked if you were seeing someone else? Why not simply state that you had met with Zuo Jia?"

"I was concerned you might misunderstand, which is why I didn't mention it. I held no romantic feelings for her when she was unmarried, so naturally, I wouldn't harbor any thoughts about her now that she is wed!"

Lou Ziling spent a considerable amount of time soothing Jing Xi, and it was only when she finally managed a smile that he felt a wave of relief wash over him.

He found himself wondering who could be so malicious as to send such a misleading photograph to Jing Xi during her pregnancy; their malicious intent was undeniably clear!

If he discovered the culprit, that person's end would be certain!

......

Given the profound bond between Lou Ziling and Jing Xi, and Lou Ziling's consistent lack of romantic interest in Zuo Jia, the issue was resolved with relative ease. However, the situation for Zuo Jia was far from simple.

Fu Rongting's assignment had concluded, yet he did not return home.

If Zuo Jia could not relinquish her lingering feelings for Lou Ziling, and if he were the sole contributor to their marriage, Fu Rongting resolved to step aside. Fearing he would be unable to let Zuo Jia go upon seeing her at home, he directed his path straight to a hotel.

While Zuo Jia was occupied at work during the day, he packed his belongings and departed with them.

Upon returning home that night, Zuo Jia discovered that Fu Rongting's possessions were gone. A hollow feeling settled in her chest, accompanied by a sense of foreboding.

Her phone suddenly rang, and the caller ID displayed "Fu Rongting," causing Zuo Jia a flicker of apprehension. She answered the call, and Fu Rongting's calm voice emanated from the other end. "Jiajia, let's get a divorce!"

“What did you say?”

“I truly believed I could take Lou Ziling’s place. I thought I wouldn’t mind your past affections for another, but it appears this is not working. Your heart belongs to him, and I can no longer bear it. Have you ever known the feeling of being unable to breathe?”

Zuo Jia couldn't comprehend how their situation had devolved so rapidly. Her eyes welled up with tears as she questioned, “What’s gotten into you? You were perfectly fine before you left. Why the sudden decision for a divorce? When did you even return? And why didn't you come home to see me?”

“Someone sent me a photograph of you and Lou Ziling. Though she may not be a decent person, the image is undeniably real. Jiajia, do you intend to continue meeting Lou Ziling behind my back?”

The more Furongting spoke, the sharper the ache in his heart became. His hands balled into fists, and his voice turned frigid.

“No, you’ve completely misunderstood!”

Zuo Jia felt an overwhelming sense of panic. So, it was true that no secret could remain hidden forever. Fu Rongting had indeed discovered the truth!

“There is nothing between Lou Ziling and me. He merely requires my assistance with a matter concerning his company! Many of his projects have encountered significant restrictions, hindering the company’s progress. He approached me for a business collaboration!”

Had it not been for the photographs, Furongting might have been inclined to believe Zuo Jia’s explanation.

However, among the images provided by Wu Wei, aside from a few depicting Lou Ziling embracing her, the one that inflicted the deepest wound upon Furongting’s heart was Zuo Jia herself, seated within her car, her gaze affectionately fixed on Lou Ziling as he departed.

Zuo Jia had never once looked at him with such tender adoration when he left to undertake perilous missions.

That look of profound affection left Furongting utterly despondent. He resigned himself to the thought that he could never truly replace Lou Ziling, regardless of his efforts.

Zuo Jia’s attempt at an explanation offered him no solace. No matter how many words she might utter, they could not outweigh the stark reality captured in the photographs.

“Jiajia, your grandfather’s health is not particularly robust. Our divorce might cause him considerable distress, so it would be best if you refrain from informing your family about this matter. Should you require my assistance in maintaining this charade, you may contact me at any time.”
