“Zhenhui, why have you come here?” Su Yan inquired, a hint of confusion in her voice.
“Let’s set that aside for the moment. Sister Yan, shouldn’t I be offering my congratulations on your new beginning?” Lin Zhenhui responded with a smile.
With that declaration, he ensnared Su Yan in a firm embrace, their faces drawing incredibly near, allowing them to feel the warmth radiating from each other’s breaths.
Su Yan: “...”
“It’s Sister Yitong. She just rang me up and asked me to come look for you,” Lin Zhenhui clarified.
“Let go of me, are you out of your mind?” Su Yan struggled, her voice laced with urgency. “You’re embracing a recently divorced woman out in the open. Do you genuinely wish to become a trending topic? You need to be mindful of your public image! You’re quite popular now, so your actions must be carefully considered!”
A look of gentle reproach crossed Su Yan’s face as she raised her hand and lightly tapped Lin Zhenhui’s chest.
Lin Zhenhui released her, subconsciously running a hand through his hair.
“Hehe, please don’t be upset, Sister Xiao Yan. We were all elated to hear about your divorce from that blockhead. Furthermore, I’ve arrived with a specific objective,” Lin Zhenhui chuckled.
“Objective?” Su Yan’s brow furrowed. She detected a whiff of a scheme.
Lin Zhenhui leaned in, bringing his head close to Su Yan’s ear, his posture remarkably intimate.
“Consider this: Who precisely is Wei Zhou? You’ve just divorced him. How could the Wei Family possibly remain indifferent to such a significant development? My estimation is that your divorce will surface within the hour.”
“When that happens, public sentiment will surely turn decidedly against you. Initially, they’ll speak of how you schemed your way up the social ladder. Subsequently, they'll claim you were cast aside by a prominent family. My presence here is to ensure the narrative isn't entirely one-sided.”
“Do you grasp the situation?”
Lin Zhenhui regarded Su Yan with an air of calm confidence, as if victory were already assured.
“All of you are poring over 'The Art of War' instead of diligently reciting your lines, aren’t you?” Su Yan covered her face, shaking her head.
With such a collection of amusing companions, she felt her future days would certainly not be dull.
“Over there! It’s our beloved Zhenhui!”
“Sisters, let’s make a move! This is our chance to secure his autograph!”
“Zhenhui, Zhenhui, we adore you...”
Abruptly, a surge of female fans descended upon them, proudly identifying themselves as the “Lin Family Army.”
Concurrently, a sizable contingent of paparazzi, brandishing an array of equipment, converged from the opposite direction, creating a somewhat intimidating scene.
Unperturbed, Lin Zhenhui swiftly drew Su Yan back into his arms, holding her close. Whether by design or chance, Su Yan’s lovely face was prominently displayed.
In an instant, both groups converged upon them, a cacophony of voices rising from all sides.
The potent masculine presence emanating from Lin Zhenhui caused Su Yan’s cheeks to flush while she was held within his embrace. Gazing upon his handsome features, her heart began to race.
The popular idol held her intimately, seemingly in a protective gesture.
Su Yan attempted to pull away, but Lin Zhenhui firmly guided her back into his arms.
The paparazzi erupted into a frenzy, their camera shutters clicking incessantly as the fans’ cheers intensified.
Facing a barrage of questions, Lin Zhenhui remained silent, shielding Su Yan as they navigated through the throng.
“Hold on!”
From within a Silver Mercedes-Benz S400, Wei Zhou instructed his driver to halt, his gaze fixed on the scene of Lin Zhenhui and Su Yan surrounded by the crowd.
“President Wei, you...” Li Rong voiced her confusion.
Wei Zhou offered no response, his expression a mask of grim displeasure.
Was Su Yan intentionally attempting to tarnish his reputation? After their recent divorce, she was now seen in the company of a popular male idol, attracting such intense media attention.
An inexplicable sense of betrayal washed over him, intensifying at the sight of Lin Zhenhui’s tight hold on Su Yan.
“Li Rong, go and bring Su Yan here. I have something I need to discuss with her,” Wei Zhou commanded icily.
Li Rong froze, her eyes meeting Wei Zhou’s unnervingly cold gaze. Promptly, she exited the vehicle.
“Miss Su, please wait!” Li Rong called out, maneuvering her way through the dense crowd.
Su Yan regarded Li Rong with a puzzled expression, unsure of the reason for her presence.
“What is it?” Su Yan inquired.
Her prior interactions with Li Rong had left a decidedly negative impression, making this current conversation a testament to Su Yan’s restraint.
“President Wei wishes for you to join him briefly. He has something to convey,” Li Rong stated.
Su Yan’s eyebrows arched as she peered through a gap in the crowd towards the Mercedes-Benz parked a short distance away. Despite the tinted windows, she sensed someone’s gaze upon her.
A faint smile touched her lips. “I won’t be going. I’m rather occupied at the moment!”
“Please relay this message to your President Wei: our connection has been severed. From this point forward, we shall tread separate paths, as if we have never crossed each other’s acquaintance.”
Li Rong appeared taken aback, witnessing Su Yan’s defiance of Wei Zhou’s directive for the first time.“Su Yan, we should be going. I’ll take you to a place that’s quite intriguing,” Lin Zhenhui announced with intention. Before long, with Lin Zhenhui acting as her shield, Su Yan managed to board the vehicle without issue. Her adoring fans began to pound violently on the car’s windows. Shivering, Su Yan thought to herself, 'Thankfully, Lin Zhenhui is here to protect me. If not, I might have been torn limb from limb!' “Vroom!” The Bugatti’s engine revved, and the car shot away at high speed. “President Wei, Miss Su has turned down your request,” Li Rong reported. “She also stated that the two of you no longer share any ties. From this point forward, you should each go your own way and act as if you’ve never met.” Wei Zhou’s expression darkened, and he let out a cold scoff. “Very well. I don’t wish to hear her name ever again!”
