Su Yan finds herself increasingly distracted and misses Wei Zhou, while the latter drowns his sorrows in smoke and alcohol. Lan Jian arrives with crucial information, revealing that Su Yan's mother was the kidnapped daughter of the Yue family. Upon hearing this, Wei Zhou is re-energized and rushes off to find Su Yan.

As the night deepened, Wei Zhou navigated the roads with considerable speed. Only as he approached Floral Villa did he reduce his pace. A sense of unease settled over him as he gazed at Su Yan’s residence. For the past three months, he had spent his days at home, yet each evening found him driving to this very spot. He would often stand at the courtyard entrance, hesitating to approach Su Yan. Tonight, however, was different; a compelling need to see her propelled him forward.

After securing his car by the roadside, Wei Zhou proceeded to ring the doorbell. The insistent ringing jolted Su Yan from her sleep. She strained her eyes open, instructing Xiao Xiao to illuminate the room, before pushing herself up from the bed. "Xiao Xiao, what time is it?" she inquired weakly.

"Master, it's still ten minutes shy of one in the morning," Xiao Xiao responded.

Su Yan coughed a few times, her voice tinged with fatigue. "I wonder who would disturb my rest so late at night."

As she spoke, she made her way downstairs. A glance through the surveillance camera revealed Wei Zhou at the door, causing her brow to furrow. His late-night visit perplexed her. Could he be running a fever again?

A closer inspection showed Wei Zhou appearing quite healthy, and he didn't seem to have consumed any alcohol. His car, parked discreetly, and the absence of anyone else nearby indicated he had come alone. Su Yan, having caught a cold these past couple of days, was not feeling her best. The medicine she had recently taken had just lulled her to sleep, making this abrupt awakening particularly unwelcome. Her mood soured considerably.

Clad in her snug pajamas, Su Yan emerged. Reaching the courtyard gate, she fixed Wei Zhou with a cold stare through the railing. Were it not for the discomfort of her illness, she would have certainly reprimanded him.

Wei Zhou met her gaze, stating, "I need to speak with you about something."

Su Yan's frown deepened. "Do you realize what time it is?"

Her voice, deepened by the cold, held a weary edge. Wei Zhou pursed his lips, acknowledging his impulsive action, yet desperate for an answer he couldn't defer. Sleep would elude him, even with strong medication.

Wei Zhou’s gaze remained fixed on Su Yan as he pleaded, "Could you please let me in? There's something truly important I need to ask you."

After a moment of cold appraisal, Su Yan relented, not wishing to prolong the interaction. She opened the courtyard gate. Upon entering the house, Su Yan let out a series of sneezes, her nose noticeably red and swollen.

"I apologize for disturbing you so late," Wei Zhou offered with a hint of remorse.

Su Yan, however, paid him no mind and instructed Xiao Xiao to prepare hot water. Despite the early summer warmth, her cold was attributed to an overindulgence in chilled watermelon.

Seating herself on the sofa, Su Yan turned her attention to Wei Zhou. "Tell me, what is so crucial that you had to come here in the middle of the night?"

"Have you caught a cold?" Wei Zhou inquired, his voice laced with concern.

"Just tell me directly," Su Yan replied curtly.

Feeling unwell, she had no desire to prolong their conversation. Her sole wish was to return to her bed. Furthermore, her annoyance at being woken had put a definite chill on her demeanor, leaving no room for pleasantries.

Wei Zhou took a deep breath, his eyes locked onto Su Yan. "What exactly is your connection to Yue Chuang?"

Su Yan glanced at him sideways upon hearing the question. "And what business is that of yours?"

Wei Zhou shifted uncomfortably. "You and Yue Chuang aren't romantically involved, are you? You aren't planning to get married, correct?"

Su Yan blinked in surprise. "Wei Zhou, are you telling me you dragged me out of bed like a madman just to ask that?"

Had enough, Su Yan rose, turning towards the stairs. Overcome with vexation, she desired only to retire for the night, no longer inclined to entertain his questions.

Wei Zhou’s hand shot out, grasping her arm as he moved closer. His tall frame loomed near hers, the space between them narrowing to mere inches. He lowered his head, his intense gaze fixed on Su Yan, for whom this answer held immense significance.

Su Yan instinctively stepped back, seeking to create distance, but Wei Zhou caught her slender waist. "You and Yue Chuang are cousins, aren't you? That means the rumors online are all false, right?" he pressed earnestly.

Su Yan's expression hardened, her frown deepening. "Wei Zhou, you actually had me investigated?"

Wei Zhou quickly explained, "It was Lan Jian. He noticed something unusual about your interactions with Yue Chuang and decided to spend considerable resources looking into it."

Su Yan was seething with anger. “Whether I choose to be with Yue Chuang or not is none of your business! Even if I were involved with Yue Chuang, it’s not your place to interfere. Let me remind you, we divorced over a year ago. Please remember your position.”
