After three years of enduring mistreatment from her in-laws, Su Yan decides she's had enough. She confronts her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, boldly declares she's leaving the Wei family, and drives away in a Maserati, determined to regain her lost dignity and live for herself.

“A person ought to truly recognize their standing. Do not mistake another’s modesty for timidity. Be off with you!”

Su Yan declared coolly before proceeding directly to the president’s office.

Li Rong stood frozen, her face burning with indignation and humiliation. Su Yan had just retorted with biting words.

However, before Li Rong could even muster a response, Su Yan had already entered the office.

The moment Su Yan stepped inside, the office felt like a suffocating quagmire. The atmosphere was incredibly dense. Wei Zhou sat rigidly on the executive chair, an embodiment of an ice sculpture.

“Be strong!” Su Yan silently encouraged herself and walked forward to meet Wei Zhou’s unyielding gaze.

Wei Zhou’s eyes shifted slightly. Su Yan seemed distinctly different today.

“Who granted you permission to enter?” Wei Zhou’s detached voice cut through the silence. His tone was undeniably pleasant, yet utterly devoid of emotion, a manner of speaking reserved solely for Su Yan.

“Sign this divorce agreement!” Su Yan cut to the chase, placing the document decisively on his desk.

“Are you not weary of orchestrating these constant spectacles?” Wei Zhou inquired with evident disdain.

A pang resonated in Su Yan’s heart. Wei Zhou had not disappointed her; his indifference remained as potent as ever.

“Wei Zhou, I am truly exhausted!”

“Tomorrow morning, precisely at nine, we’ll meet at the Civil Affairs Bureau. I’ll see you there!” Su Yan stated, a dry, bitter laugh escaping her as she brushed back her hair.

Wei Zhou remained silent, his hands clasped, his chin resting upon them. The office was as frigid as a deep freezer.

“Do not fret. This time, it is definitive. No matter how deeply I once loved you, I will depart once my disappointment reaches its limit.”

Before she could utter another word, Su Yan turned and departed, fighting valiantly to suppress her tears. Seven years of clandestine adoration, followed by three years of marriage, had culminated in this moment. Saying she was letting go was simple, yet her heart still ached profoundly.

As she navigated her way out, she desperately maintained a smile. She could not allow anyone to perceive her as a spectacle; she had to preserve her last vestiges of dignity.

Once Su Yan had vanished from sight, Wei Zhou retrieved the divorce agreement, cast a cursory glance at it, and carelessly tossed it aside.

The agreement stipulation that Su Yan would relinquish all shared assets, leaving with nothing, served as a stark testament to her resolve.

He harbored no surprise at Su Yan’s proposal of divorce, nor was he moved by it, as his affections for her were nonexistent. However, he found it difficult to believe that Su Yan would genuinely walk away from their life together entirely empty-handed.

...

“Did you manage to get it signed?” Tang Yitong inquired.

“He didn’t believe me!” Su Yan responded.

“Are you weeping?” Tang Yitong pressed further.

“I am not,” Su Yan insisted, though her eyes were undeniably red.

Tang Yitong fell into a contemplative silence, fully understanding the depths of Su Yan’s sorrow.

“One must inevitably endure a few heartless individuals before encountering the right one,” Tang Yitong mused. “Perhaps I should play matchmaker and introduce you to some charming young men?”

“Oh, spare me, Tang Yitong!” Su Yan retorted irritably, rolling her eyes.

“After enduring three years of suffering, we certainly can’t let him off the hook so easily. It’s imperative to tarnish his reputation just a bit,” Tang Yitong suggested with a mischievous grin. “Coincidentally, Wei Zhou’s beloved cinnabar mole has returned. I’m quite adept at this sort of thing!”

The disintegration of a listed company CEO’s marriage, coupled with the reappearance of his former flame, would undoubtedly ignite public interest. Tang Yitong keenly sensed the aroma of juicy gossip.

“Our friendship is formally concluded!” Su Yan declared, closing her eyes to rest, utterly unwilling to engage further with Tang Yitong.

Tang Yitong playfully stuck out her tongue. “My dearest, you should be celebrating! Liberated from that blockhead at last, your suffering has ceased. Please, refrain from sobbing in secret. Muack...”

With that, she opened her arms, attempting to embrace Su Yan.

Su Yan laughed, a sound tinged with exasperation. She pushed Tang Yitong’s face away with one hand, rejecting her affectionate advance.

“Begone, your antics are rather nauseating!”

Tang Yitong pouted. “Come now, Little Yan Yan, permit me just one kiss!”

Su Yan was left speechless. “I will genuinely strike you. Someone as delicate as you would likely weep inconsolably from a single punch, wouldn't they?”

...

Heavenly Sound Palace, pre-nuptial notarization, Su Yan’s private villa.

“We’ve arrived, Little Yan Yan! You can do this! Little Candy will always cheer you on!” Tang Yitong exclaimed with a smile as the Maserati glided to a halt.

Su Yan dabbed at the lingering lipstick mark on her face and offered a smile. “Your theatrical displays are so over-the-top, I truly cannot stomach them! Alright, I’m heading back now. Drive carefully.”

Having spoken, she alighted from the vehicle and proceeded towards the villa entrance with her suitcase.

The door swung open, revealing the housekeeper, who emerged with a welcoming smile.

“Miss Su, you’ve returned!”

“Yes, thank you for your diligent work, Aunt Liu.”

Aunt Liu’s warm, unpretentious smile nearly brought Su Yan to tears.

Over the past three years, she had seldom returned to her own residence. Aunt Liu had meticulously managed everything in her absence.

Aunt Liu, whose family resided in the countryside, had come to the city to earn money for her son's overseas education. She was a pleasant, diligent, and meticulous individual who genuinely cared for Su Yan as if she were her own daughter.

Su Yan, cradling a bowl of warm lotus seed soup, found her eyes welling up with tears once more as she sat on the sofa.

Aunt Liu, occupied with unpacking Su Yan's belongings, failed to notice the subtle change in her expression.

"Welcome home, beautiful Mistress!"

A voice, both robotic and endearing, suddenly chimed in.

Turning her head, Su Yan saw a robot shaped like a barrel. A smile touched her lips.

The robot was a pristine white, and a screen on its head displayed a pair of large, charming eyes.

Su Yan realized with a start that she had nearly forgotten about this gift from Tang Yitong, purchased for her birthday last year and left behind in the villa.

"Thank you, Xiao Xiao!" Su Yan replied with a smile.
