Evan bravely fights through the Black Flesh creatures to sever Al-Akulakka's head, but is drawn back into the closing erosion field. Later, Alon questions Penia about returning to the past, but she cannot answer. Evan reflects on his past as a noble who lost everything, his failed dream of becoming a 'strong man,' and his eventual admiration for Alon. Accepting his fate within the endless Black Flesh, Evan finds peace and smiles, feeling he has received much and even regained his dream as he prepares to fight one last time.
