At a military airfield in Africa, an empty expanse, there was only a single large airplane parked, roaring, and not far from the plane, many local military personnel had come to see off the flight.
"...Doctor Lu, you’re really not leaving?" Qi Taiguo looked at the woman in front of him wearing a thin windbreaker, noticeably thinner and more tanned than when she had just arrived.
Lu Feiyun winked playfully and said, "Battalion Commander Qi, if you keep inviting me to leave like this, I’ll start to get the wrong idea!"
Qi Taiguo made a noise of acknowledgment and laughed, "Doctor Lu is joking again."
Lu Feiyun replied, "I’m truly not leaving. Besides, last time you should have returned, but you chose to stay here with me and went to those native areas for treatment, delaying for so long. You should hurry back! Otherwise, Sister-in-law Qi will become one of those stones waiting for her husband!"
Last time during the evacuation, Qi Taiguo clearly had the chance to return home, but he didn’t. Instead, he stayed with her to provide in-depth treatment to those native people, leaving her unsure what to say, feeling nothing but respect.
It wasn’t until now that a new batch of Aid Africa personnel arrived that he finally returned.
Qi Taiguo gave a silly smile and said, "I was thinking, it wouldn’t be too long anyway!"
Lu Feiyun shoved her hands into the pockets of her windbreaker and said, "Ready to head home like an arrow?"
Qi Taiguo nodded, he was indeed a bit eager. He had been here for eight months, and he missed home, Cheng Su, and his son!
Lu Feiyun noticed the yearning on his face, she understood in her heart, and sighed softly, this is what it’s like to have someone who occupies one’s heart.
"Doctor Lu, you should return home too. Even if you don’t have a lover, you have family. I bet they miss you too!" Qi Taiguo said.
"Me? My parents are really open-minded; they’ve retired and are traveling around the world. To be honest, I don’t even know where they are right now, so..." She shrugged.
Qi Taiguo wanted to say something but felt at a loss for words, realizing whatever he said would feel quite hollow.
Lu Feiyun saw someone near the plane waving a flag, signaling people to board, and said, "They’re urging people to board, you should go!"
Qi Taiguo glanced back and saw it was true, he then looked at Lu Feiyun and asked, "Are you not really leaving?"
Lu Feiyun winked mischievously, "If Battalion Commander Qi wants to marry me, then I can go anywhere with you, even to the ends of the earth."
Qi Taiguo widened his eyes and waved his hands, "Then you better not leave!"
Lu Feiyun burst into laughter.
She extended her arms, leaving Qi Taiguo unsure what she was doing!
"After all these months working together, now that we’re separating, isn’t it appropriate to give a hug?" Lu Feiyun laughed.
Qi Taiguo seemed a bit hesitant.
Lu Feiyun smiled and stepped forward, hugging him, "Battalion Commander Qi, thank you for everything these days, for saving me, and for helping me!"
Qi Taiguo’s lips curled, he hugged her back briefly and then let go, "Doctor Lu, I also thank you for saving me!"
Lu Feiyun released him, stepped back, looked at him, and smiled, "Then we’re even!"
Qi Taiguo smiled, indeed, they’re even.
The whistle sounded, Qi Taiguo said, "I’m off."
Lu Feiyun nodded, "Safe travels!"
Qi Taiguo also said, "You take care!" He turned around and ran towards the plane.
The plane began to move slowly, taking off, as Qi Taiguo looked down, he saw Lu Feiyun still standing there, hands in her pockets, head raised looking in this direction, the wind tousling her hair, covering her face.
As she became a small dot, Qi Taiguo pulled back his gaze and looked at the clouds in the sky, his lips curling up.
He was going home!
