Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife Chapter 1636 - 1637: Who Could It Be
Previously on Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife...
Was someone here to see Little Cheng Su?
Cheng Su was initially surprised by this news, but a surge of joy quickly followed. Could it be her parents or perhaps a relative?
"Who is it? Director, what kind of person were they? Can you describe them?" Cheng Su eagerly clutched the director’s sleeve, her heart alight with the best news she’d received in ages. Yet, she swiftly regained her composure. If it were family, wouldn’t they have taken Little Cheng Su with them instead of leaving her here?
The director settled into a chair, replying, "They stated they were here to see her, but that’s just my own conjecture."
"What do you mean by that?" Cheng Su pressed urgently.
The director reminisced, "It was back in August. A gentleman visited the orphanage. We all assumed he intended to adopt a child. However, after observing children of all ages, his expression remained unreadable. It seemed more like he was searching for someone specific, which piqued my curiosity, so I inquired."
As expected, the man paused briefly before asking if any children had been brought to the orphanage within the last two years.
By a stroke of coincidence, Little Cheng Su toddled out from the nursery. Upon seeing her, the man’s eyes seemed to brighten.
"At the time, I thought he intended to adopt, but who would have thought Little Cheng Su burst into tears the moment she saw him, recoiling and refusing to even look at him," the director recounted. "Witnessing her reaction, the man let out a sigh, left behind a few hundred Yuan, and departed swiftly."
Cheng Su was taken aback, her brow furrowing.
"Did the gentleman say nothing else?" she inquired, reluctant to dismiss the possibility. "Did he not ask anything about Little Cheng Su herself?"
The director shook his head. "No, when he saw her, his expression was quite complex. He remained silent and left after providing some money. I truly believe he came specifically to see her."
Without the need for further explanation from the director, Cheng Su connected the dots, harboring the strong conviction that the man had sought out Little Cheng Su intentionally.
But who could he be? Was it possible he was Little Cheng Su’s father or perhaps another family member?
Amidst swirling thoughts, Cheng Su asked, "Director, what did the man look like? Do you think there's a chance he could be the child’s father?"
"Well..." The director pondered for a moment before shaking his head. "I don’t think so. They bear no resemblance. Little Cheng Su appeared genuinely frightened of him. And honestly, even I felt a bit apprehensive."
"Whatever for?"
"The aura he exuded was rather menacing, brimming with hostility. His hair was long, nearly obscuring his eyes, and he sported a beard. His features were not clearly discernible, and he was clad in dark attire," the director explained, a hint of embarrassment coloring his tone. "To be quite frank, had he not left that sum of money, I might have mistaken him for some sort of ruffian or a kidnapper."
Cheng Su found this description unsurprising. Judging individuals based on their outward appearance is a common human tendency, and based on that depiction, she certainly felt the man would indeed be challenging to interact with!
"And he hasn’t returned since then?" Cheng Su inquired further.
The director confirmed with another shake of his head.
A wave of disappointment washed over Cheng Su.
Who could this mysterious individual possibly be?
After a moment’s thought, she posed another question: "Director, would it be possible for you to sketch a portrait of him?"
The director hesitated, admitting with some embarrassment, "My drawing skills aren’t the best; it likely wouldn’t be very accurate."
Recalling the director’s admitted lack of artistic talent, Cheng Su suggested, "In that case, allow me to draw based on your description."
The director readily agreed. He produced paper and a pen, and began to describe the man from memory while Cheng Su diligently sketched. With every line she drew, she sought confirmation, refining the image based on his feedback until the director declared it was approximately 80-90% accurate.
The details emerged: a height of about 178 cm, hair reaching the nape of the neck, bangs falling over the eyes, thin lips, a prominent nose, a small, faint scar on the lower left side of his chin, and a tattoo of letters on his wrist...
At first glance, he was unequivocally not a benevolent figure. But who was he? And more importantly, why had he been searching for Little Cheng Su?
