Previously, Qi Xiaoqi cried incessantly until Cheng Su returned. Mother Qi, who was holding the child, felt awkward when he immediately calmed down in his mother's arms. Cheng Su then took over the cooking for a family gathering, preparing a substantial meal including braised lamb and various hot pot ingredients.

While Cheng Su was diligently preparing a grand feast at home, Qi Fenglian arrived, escorting a meticulously groomed Chu Changxing.

"Fenglian, do I look presentable?" Chu Changxing anxiously inquired of Qi Fenglian, his hands laden with gifts. Xiao Yun, trailing behind, couldn't help but cast a knowing smirk in their direction.

Qi Fenglian surveyed him from head to toe and chuckled, "You look quite dashing; one might mistake you for the groom."

He was decked out in a suit, complete with a tie, his hair neatly parted and slicked back, and his shoes gleamed after a thorough polish—the very picture of a groom.

Feeling reassured by her assessment, Chu Changxing beamed, "I wouldn't dream of showing you disrespect."

A faint blush touched Qi Fenglian's cheeks as she gently chided him, holding her son close.

Can't bear it any longer, Xiao Yun dashed forward, calling out, "I'll head inside first!"

A comfortable silence fell between the remaining two as they followed, Qi Fenglian quietly briefing Chu Changxing on the family's various personalities.

"Uncle," suddenly piped up Xiao Bao, nestled in Qi Fenglian's arms.

Qi Fenglian paused, turning to see Qi Taiguo, clad in his military uniform, approaching with a confident, commanding stride.

"Big Sister!" Qi Taiguo quickly reached them, offering a greeting to Qi Fenglian before his sharp gaze settled on Chu Changxing, scrutinizing him intently.

"This is my elder brother, Taiguo," Qi Fenglian introduced to Chu Changxing.

Chu Changxing knew Qi Fenglian's brother was a military officer but had never met him. Seeing him now, he was undeniably imposing and formidable. The piercing stare only intensified his already fluttering heart.

This potential brother-in-law was clearly not to be trifled with!

He set down the gifts, discreetly wiped the cold sweat from his palms on his trousers, extended a hand, and stammered, "Hello, Big Brother."

Observing Chu Changxing's nervous perspiration, Qi Taiguo, despite his initial reservations, perceived the sincerity in his eyes. He softened his stern demeanor, saying, "Brother Chu, please just call me Taiguo."

Hearing this, Chu Changxing and Qi Fenglian simultaneously exhaled in relief, a shared grin appearing as he responded, "Taiguo."

Qi Taiguo nodded, reached out to gently take Xiao Bao from Qi Fenglian, holding the child easily in one arm. "It's a bit chilly; let's head inside for some tea and conversation," he suggested, then led the way.

Chu Changxing swiftly retrieved the gifts and followedQi Fenglian.

The family had anticipated Xiao Yun's arrival, but seeing her enter alongside Qi Taiguo was an unexpected addition.

"We just happened to run into each other downstairs," Qi Taiguo explained.

With great enthusiasm, Qi Fenglian introduced Chu Changxing to the assembled family members. Chu Changxing remained a bit on edge, worried about any potential faux pas or breach of etiquette.

However, Father Qi noticed his respectful demeanor and offered repeated nods of approval, his expression clearly indicating satisfaction with Chu Changxing.

Mother Qi felt much the same. While Chu Changxing had a nearly grown son, which was a minor point, Qi Fenglian herself was also entering a second marriage with a child. He owned a home and possessed a business, which were considered stable circumstances.

Cheng Su poured tea for them, inviting them to sit and converse, before returning to the kitchen to continue her preparations. With all guests present, dinner was imminent.

Xiao Yun joined them. The young girl had blossomed into a lady. Rolling up her sleeves to assist Cheng Su, she remarked casually, "Auntie, it seems I'm really going to have a stepfather!"

Her wistful expression seemed beyond her years, prompting Cheng Su to laugh and ask, "You're not happy about that?"

When parents remarry, a child's feelings are also significant; Cheng Su genuinely wanted to understand Xiao Yun's perspective.
