Chiang Qing, after miscarrying Gao Hongbo's child, conspires with Shen Rong to kill Gao. With Shen Rong's help, she poisons Gao and escapes her previous life. Shen Rong plans to send her to Hong Kong to recuperate and avoid trouble, seeing her as a potentially useful, albeit troublesome, individual.

The demise of Secretary Gao was concluded following his memorial service. Those privy to the situation understood his death was not an honorable one. Even after his family reviewed the autopsy findings, no further inquiries were made, and the case was officially closed as a natural death.

Upon hearing this news from Ning Ge, Cheng Su couldn't help but let out a sigh. She mused, what significance does a high position hold? Who could have foreseen such a downfall? It was likely an event he himself never imagined.

Furthermore, to have passed away in such circumstances, with his family opting not to pursue any action, wouldn't that make him feel even more desolate in the afterlife?

"Whether he feels cold or not is irrelevant. Frankly, he brought it all upon himself. He transgressed the moral boundaries of marriage and basic decency. Do you truly believe his family was unaware of his transgressions?" Cheng Su remarked casually. "Women possess the keenest intuition. They often sense any shifts in the men around them; it merely depends on whether they choose to acknowledge or confront it!"

"Are you suggesting that Madam Gao was privy to Gao Hongbo's illicit activities all along?" Ning Ge inquired, cradling Qi Xiaoqi.

Cheng Su shook her head. "I cannot ascertain if she was aware, but even without direct knowledge, she must have harbored suspicions. And the moment it transpired, she would have understood everything. Whether her heart broke or she prioritized her children's future, now that he is deceased, she likely has no desire to pursue the matter further."

Ning Ge sighed deeply. "Women, when they turn ruthless, are truly formidable!"

Cheng Su cast a glance at him. There was a subtle undertone in his words, an echo of personal experience, wasn't there?

"A woman's ruthlessness is often a consequence imposed by a man," Cheng Su stated with a mocking laugh. "Consider Secretary Gao. He disregarded moral principles, manipulated others, and even his own kin. Now that he has met this end, who could claim it wasn't a result of his own actions? Had he conducted himself with integrity, he wouldn't have met a violent end, nor would his family refuse to seek justice for him. Do not label Madam Gao as ruthless; she is likely still seething with resentment internally!"

A man's contentment is intrinsically linked to his desires. A man capable of governing his impulses, whose rationality prevails over his wants, comprehends that certain actions may ultimately prove not worth the eventual cost.

Ning Ge responded awkwardly, "Hearing you speak, I feel rather ashamed!"

Cheng Su scoffed. "This serves as a stark illustration, a lesson on the repercussions of failing to uphold moral standards. Therefore, you must learn to master your desires."

Ning Ge rubbed his nose, glanced down at Xiao Qi nestled in his arms, and quipped, "Godson, your mother has transformed into a veritable tigress."

Cheng Su, angered, playfully kicked him. "Stop poisoning my son's mind."

Ning Ge chuckled.

After their laughter subsided, Cheng Su took a sip of her tea. A moment of hesitation passed before she inquired, "Gao Hongbo is gone, but where has Chiang Qing disappeared to?"

Ning Ge's smile faltered slightly. "I'm uncertain as yet, but I suspect Gao's demise is the work of Chiang Qing, with an accomplice aiding her from the shadows."

Cheng Su drew a sharp, cold breath. "Are you implying Chiang Qing murdered Gao Hongbo?"

"There is no concrete evidence. But is it not a striking coincidence? He is dead, and Chiang Qing has vanished without a trace. How could she have managed such an evasion entirely on her own?" Ning Ge sneered.

Cheng Su fell silent for a moment, then stated, "If that is the case, her descent into madness has reached an alarming new level!"

If she possessed the audacity to commit murder, what other dreadful acts would she refrain from?

A shiver of apprehension coursed through Cheng Su.

"Rest assured, I have already set my people to track her movements," Ning Ge reassured her.

Cheng Su managed a strained smile.

To divert her worries, Ning Ge produced an item he had brought along. "Here, a token for my godson, a gesture of our newfound kinship. Please accept it!"

Cheng Su's attention was indeed captured. Upon noticing it was a stock certificate, she couldn't help but exclaim, "As a godfather, you are remarkably generous!"
