Cheng Su hosted a full month celebration for her child, attended by distinguished guests including Ning Ge and Old Master Cheng. While prominent families mingled at the main table, envious whispers and resentful remarks arose from other guests regarding the perceived status and connections of Cheng Su and her family.

The subtle words from Aunt caused not only Aunt Cheng to feel a bit displeased but also Father Qi and Qi Fengping at the same table to shift uncomfortably. On such a pleasant day, wouldn't it have been better to simply enjoy a celebratory drink at the wedding rather than uttering such bitter remarks?

Qi Fengping, unable to restrain her temper, retorted, "Aunt, you are truly misjudging my sister-in-law. Does she not treat relatives with warmth? Consider my cousin, for instance; if my sister-in-law hadn't been welcoming, how would she have facilitated his employment at this very restaurant? You are certainly aware of my sister-in-law's disposition!"

Aunt was rendered speechless, her countenance darkening further. She mused, "This girl is truly sharp-tongued. Does she not understand filial piety towards elders?" She also marveled at Cheng Su's capability in winning over such a sister-in-law!

Just as she was about to voice another protest, Deng Weiqiu discreetly tugged her sleeve beneath the table. Aunt cast a glance around and observed that the expressions of everyone at their table were indifferent. Even her closest confidante, Erzhen, appeared lost in contemplation, paying no heed.

As for the others, their united front of unspoken hostility sent a chill through Aunt's heart.

In times of difficulty, one must learn to adapt. Aunt forced a smile and conceded, "Indeed, our Deng family is indebted to your sister-in-law."

Qi Fengping let out a soft chuckle. She turned her head to engage in conversation with Xiao Yun, privately thinking that Aunt was growing increasingly befuddled with age, incapable of discerning the prevailing atmosphere.

Aunt Cheng offered greetings to everyone with a smile before returning to her family's table to converse in hushed tones with Third Uncle Cheng, who had traveled from Guangcheng for the wedding festivities.

Owing to Cheng Su's influence, Third Uncle Cheng’s ventures in Guangcheng had been flourishing. He felt immense gratitude and offered unwavering support to his niece. Upon hearing his wife's circulated gossip, he scoffed, "Such a woman, utterly lacking in perception. Regardless, we are related to the Qi family; what standing does she truly possess? Simply pay her no mind."

Aunt Cheng readily concurred.

Cheng Su, naturally, remained unaware of this minor incident. As more guests arrived, she and Qi Taiguo became increasingly occupied, their focus bent on ensuring every attendee had an enjoyable experience.

Luh Kai also made his appearance, presenting an exceptionally valuable gift – a piece of exquisitely carved jade. He remarked, with a touch of jest, that now that they had a daughter, she could potentially be betrothed into their family in the future.

Cheng Su exchanged pleasantries with a smile. After Luh Kai took his seat, Qi Taiguo leaned in and whispered to her, "He certainly has a keen mind. His daughter isn't even born yet, and he's already contemplating her marriage to our Xiao Qi." His tone carried a hint of genuine pique.

Cheng Su responded, "Anyone overhearing you would assume you yourself had a daughter, so eagerly coveted from the outset."

"It's much the same with a son. Our Xiao Qi is quite promising. Observe how many praise his appearance and commend his handsomeness," Qi Taiguo stated with evident pride.

Cheng Su let out a scoff. "Do you truly believe mere flattery? You are exceedingly conceited. Thankfully, he is a son; if he were a daughter, would you not be inclined to conceal her from the world?"

Qi Taiguo chuckled heartily. "Were she a daughter, I would undoubtedly guard her most jealously, as in ages past, lest she be snatched away by some unworthy."

Cheng Su could not suppress her laughter at his amusing declaration.

"It is fortunate as it is. This young man is already sought after, and surely will be even more so in the years to come. Securing a good wife can profoundly benefit three generations. Once he matures, he will require... oops," Qi Taiguo's eyes sparkled with a mischievous glint.

Cheng Su shot him a stern look. "What are you implying? Arranging multiple unions for him? Are you instructing our son in the ways of womanizing?"

Qi Taiguo cleared his throat and spoke with studied caution, "Not at all. I am merely suggesting that our son should choose with discernment, so that he may be dutiful to you as his mother-in-law, is that not correct?" He then added, "Furthermore, with so many people observing, refrain from pinching me; what impression would that create?"

"Nonsense! Go and attend to the guests; Uncle Ying has arrived!" Cheng Su nudged him, unable to hide her amused smile.
