Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife Chapter 1501 - 1502: Thank You, You’ve Worked Hard
Previously on Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife...
Mother Cheng trailed after the nurse who carried her grandson into her daughter’s hospital room, where she spotted her son-in-law gently wiping away her daughter’s sweat, filling her heart with overwhelming joy and relief.
Her daughter had delivered a boy, yet he showed no rush to cradle him, prioritizing his wife’s care with such gentle devotion. How could any mother-in-law not feel deeply comforted by this?
Mother Cheng received the baby from the nurse with a beaming smile and said, "Son-in-law, come see your son. He’s six pounds and two ounces, with strong bones."
Qi Taiguo shifted his attention to the infant, and upon noticing Cheng Su still asleep, he rose and accepted the baby from Mother Cheng.
For the first time, he became a father. Though he had held younger siblings in his youth, it paled in comparison; this child was irreplaceable, leaving him nervous, clumsy, and utterly inexperienced in his hold.
Mother Cheng gently corrected his grip, easing his discomfort, as Qi Taiguo examined the little one.
Thick, pitch-black hair covered his head, dense eyebrows framed his face, his eyes shut tight yet boasting impressive long lashes—longer than those of either parent. A straight tiny nose and perfectly pursed lips completed the picture.
"Such a wide forehead, a mark of great fortune," Mother Cheng said happily.
Qi Taiguo hummed in agreement, a gradual smile lighting up his features, tenderness shining in his gaze.
This little one was his son, the child of his cherished Cheng Su, the treasure she had endured so much to bring into the world.
From this day forward, Qi Taiguo stepped into fatherhood, with heavier duties now resting upon him.
"Son, I’m your dad."
During Cheng Su’s tough pregnancy, especially those agonizing bouts of morning sickness that drained her soul, Qi Taiguo had vowed countless times to give the kid a good spanking for tormenting his mother so.
Yet now, with his son in his arms, he couldn’t fathom laying a hand on him; how could he possibly spank such innocence?
Gazing at the baby’s flushed, tender cheeks, Qi Taiguo’s heart turned to mush—he had a son!
Mother Cheng watched Qi Taiguo’s eyes redden and grinned proudly.
Her daughter had done well, birthing a son and securing their future. Even with just this one, prosperity awaited without worry.
A faint murmur escaped, and Mother Cheng saw Cheng Su furrow her brow and stir awake, prompting her to cry out, "Susu, you’re awake?"
Cheng Su felt utterly exhausted, every inch of her body throbbing like it had been beaten relentlessly, strength completely gone.
"Stay still, stay still—you just gave birth, lie back down," Mother Cheng urged, pushing her gently as she tried to sit up, then fetched a thin cap from their bags to cover her head. "Can’t let you catch cold."
Cheng Su allowed the fussing, her eyes turning toward Qi Taiguo.
Qi Taiguo sat cradling the baby, lifting him for her view, "Susu, look at our son."
Excitement brimmed in his voice, thick with emotion.
Cheng Su eyed the wrinkly, red-faced newborn with eyes squeezed shut and wrinkled her nose, "He’s so ugly!"
Qi Taiguo’s joy halted abruptly, "Nonsense!"
"All newborns look red at first; he’ll fair up in a few days. The nurse bathed him earlier—I saw he’s pretty fair-skinned," Mother Cheng laughed, "Babies transform daily; he’ll turn into a handsome lad for sure."
With both her mother and husband insisting, Cheng Su had no counter, stealing another glance before smiling.
Qi Taiguo laid the baby softly next to her for closer inspection, murmuring, "Wife, thank you—you’ve labored so much!"
With those words, he leaned in and pressed a kiss to her lips.
