After leaving Ryndor’s room, they both intended to exit the tower’s residential building when they encountered a guard.
The guard naturally had no idea about anything, and upon seeing them leave, simply nodded in respect. He had no idea his superior was dead, nor what would become of his own job from today onward.
Daniel ignored the guard, and Serys said to show the way to the tower leader’s office.
The tower leader’s office was located in the most central and main building of the Central Magic Tower, on the highest floor.
Knock knock knock
"Come in."
The heavy door of the tower leader’s office opened, and Daniel stepped inside without any pause.
His face was calm, but it was the kind of calm that resembled the silence before an explosion rather than peace.
Behind him, Serys still carried the shock of a few minutes ago on her face, and every time her gaze fell on Daniel, the image of Ryndor’s lifeless body came alive in her mind again.
The tower leader looked up from behind his massive desk.
With just a brief glance at their faces, he understood that something had happened that could change the course of everything.
"Sit down." His voice was quiet, but its weight filled the entire room.
"May I ask why you’ve come to see me? Have you made progress on the case?" It had barely been a day since he had entrusted the case to them.
It didn’t even cross his mind that they might have already solved the case and found the killer.
"The case is closed. We’ve found the killer." Before Serys could say anything, Daniel said quietly.
The tower leader’s face shifted from indifference to shock. But before he could say anything, Daniel first pulled out Morcan’s memory crystal from his storage space.
Then he placed the second crystal, which had recorded Ryndor’s entire interrogation, beside it. Finally, he slid the thick file they had taken from the secret archives quietly across the table.
"I suggest you review all three in order."
The tower leader, without asking a single question, picked up the first crystal. The blue light of the memory filled the room’s space.
Morcan’s tired and wounded image appeared.
His confessions, one after another, plunged the room into a deadly silence.
When Lioran’s name left Morcan’s lips, the tower leader’s fingers pressed so hard on the chair’s armrest that the sound of the ancient wood cracking was heard in the room.
But he still said nothing.
The first crystal went out. Daniel immediately activated the second.
This time, Ryndor’s image appeared.
From the first questions, to the moment the walls of his mind crumbled and he spoke the truth.
"...Lioran is not the heir..."
"...He is just a vessel..."
"...His body is being prepared to carry the founder’s Divinity..."
"...When it’s complete... Lioran will cease to exist..."
No one in the room even breathed. Serys was seeing these scenes for the first time as well, and her eyes widened in shock.
Such a terrifying and great secret existed? Their founder was truly such a monster?
The tower leader didn’t even blink until the image ended. Then came the moment the Silence Curse activated.
Black chains burst from within Ryndor’s body and devoured his soul before Daniel’s eyes.
The crystal went dark, and the room fell into a heavy silence.
The tower leader lowered his head. Minutes passed. No one dared to speak, and no sound except the ticking of the magical wall clock was heard.
Finally, the tower leader whispered quietly:
"So... all these years... the enemy wasn’t in front of me."
He was silent for a few seconds, then fixed his gaze on the window.
"The enemy... was standing behind me." That sentence was more bitter and heavy than any shout.
Daniel said nothing. He knew some truths didn’t need explanation, especially when the murder of someone’s daughter was involved.
The tower leader raised his hand. One of the communication seals on his desk lit up.
"Azreon... Varcas... come immediately." He called those he trusted most.
This was not something he could handle alone; he needed help.
Less than a few minutes later, the door opened again.
Azreon and Varcas entered. Both, upon seeing the room’s atmosphere, understood that something far beyond the murder case was happening.
The tower leader, without explanation, placed the crystals before them. They too saw everything.
Morcan’s confession.
Ryndor’s confession.
The Silence Curse.
The founder’s truth.
When the images ended, Varcas lost his composure for the first time in his entire life.
He quietly sat on the nearest chair, his face completely drained of color. He tried several times to say something, but no words came out.
Azreon, however, remained standing. His gaze fixed on Ryndor’s meeting records, and then he said under his breath:
"If this is true... the entire tower’s history has been a lie."
The tower leader quietly closed the files.
"From this moment on..." His voice had regained its usual authority.
"This case holds the tower’s highest level of secrecy." His gaze passed over each of those present.
"If even one word leaves this room, before Lioran is destroyed, we ourselves will be destroyed."
No one objected. Everyone knew he wasn’t exaggerating.
If the only living founder was truly behind this, the smallest mistake could bring about their destruction.
"So... do we issue the arrest order for Lioran?" A few moments later, Varcas asked quietly.
Azreon also fixed his gaze on the tower leader. But before the tower leader could answer, Daniel stepped forward.
"Not yet."
All three looked at him simultaneously. Varcas said in disbelief:
"What?"
"If we arrest him now, the founder will enter the game directly." Daniel continued without a moment’s hesitation.
"Then control of the situation will slip from our hands."
"So what’s your suggestion?" The tower leader looked at him carefully.
"Before any action, I want to speak with the founder." Daniel took a quiet breath.
Silence. And this time, the silence was even heavier than before.
Varcas’s face went completely pale. Azreon couldn’t believe what he had heard was real. Even the tower leader stared at Daniel for a few moments.
"Impossible." Then he said in a firm tone.
In their view, this was nothing short of a suicide request.
Daniel didn’t answer. The tower leader continued:
"He has lived in the tower’s depths for a thousand years. Even I, as the tower leader, have only been granted a few meetings in all these years."
"If he doesn’t want to see someone, no one can visit him. Besides, this is suicide!"
"He will see me." A very faint smile settled on Daniel’s lips.
"How can you be so sure?" The tower leader furrowed his brows.
Daniel looked directly into his eyes.
"Because I’m the only one who can destroy his thousand-year plan."
Silence once again reigned over the room. The tower leader was silent for several minutes, then slowly opened the hidden drawer of his desk.
From among several old boxes, he pulled out a stone cylinder covered with golden seals.
Inside it was a small medallion made of an unknown metal. A metal that even light slid across unnaturally.
The tower leader held it in his hand, and his gaze grew sad for a moment.
"This is the authorization to enter the tower’s depths, where the founder resides."
He placed the medallion on the table and slid it toward Daniel.
"You can go as far as the entrance. But if the founder doesn’t allow it, you cannot enter. And if you don’t return... no one will come after you."
"Don’t worry. When I return, you can punish your daughter’s killer." Daniel took the medallion without any hesitation and bowed his head in thanks.
A few minutes later, he and Serys left the tower leader’s office in silence. Neither spoke.
The hallways were quiet, but beneath that quiet, a hidden storm was brewing. They passed through stairs that few were allowed to use.
The further down they went, the less light there was, and the heavier the silence grew.
Stone walls gave way to black, natural rock.
Ancient runes glowed faintly on the walls; runes that seemed older than the tower itself.
The mana in this part of the tower was no longer like its usual calm flow.
Its pressure had become so heavy that even breathing was difficult.
Serys unconsciously felt that each step she took brought her closer to the domain of a being whose name had only been whispered in legends for a thousand years.
At the end of the hallway, a massive gate of black stone loomed.
Its height was that of a multi-story building, and its surface was covered with thousands of golden runes still pulsing with living force.
An old man in a gray robe stood motionless before the gate.
Upon seeing them, he only raised his gaze. Daniel showed the tower leader’s medallion.
The old man asked no questions, spoke no words, and just quietly stepped aside.
A moment later, a deep, ancient voice echoed throughout the tower’s depths.
The gate, after centuries, began to open, particle by particle.
From the dark gap between the two stone doors, a wave of ancient mana crept out; a pressure so immense that Serys unconsciously stepped back, feeling even her soul bend under its weight.
"This is as far as I can come. Please come back alive." Serys sighed and said to him.
She knew Daniel was strong, but he was going toward a being that stood at the pinnacle of the world’s power. She had every right to be worried.
But Daniel only smiled faintly. Without the slightest hesitation, he took his first step into the darkness.
