Apocalypse: King of Zombies Chapter 1580: Stop! You’re Killing Me!

"How is that possible?!"
Briggs stared up at Henry in horror.
That last punch had felt like he’d hit himself.
But he had clearly struck Henry. Why was he the one who got hurt?
"I don’t believe it! I’ll kill you!"
Briggs scrambled to his feet and charged again. A massive flaming greatsword appeared in his hands and came crashing down on Henry.
Bang!
The blade struck Henry dead-on.
Yet Henry remained completely unharmed, while Briggs spat out another mouthful of blood and collapsed. His face was filled with shock and confusion.
"Briggs!"
The Cathay Republic delegation finally snapped out of it and rushed over to help him up.
"Go together," Briggs ordered darkly. "Kill him!"
"Well..." The other Stage SS fighters hesitated.
They had all seen what happened to Briggs. Henry hadn’t even moved. It looked as if Briggs had attacked himself.
None of them wanted to make the first move against something that bizarre.
Besides, this was just some unassuming member of Ethan’s group, and he was already this terrifying. The others were probably even worse, especially those savage beasts. A single glance from them was enough to make everyone tremble.
There was no way they could win this fight.
"Briggs..." one of them ventured. "Maybe we should just ask for mercy?"
"Ask for mercy? Do you hear yourself? I am a warrior of the mighty Cathay Republic! I will not beg anyone from the Atlas Federation for mercy!" Briggs roared.
"But we can’t beat them," Stefan said helplessly. "Only one of them has stepped forward so far. What happens when the rest join in?"
"Those people are watching us like we’re a joke. If we can’t even defeat one of them, they’ll only look down on us more."
Briggs glared at Henry.
"No matter what, we need to beat at least one of them. Then we’ll have some leverage when we negotiate!"
The others looked toward Ethan’s group. Sure enough, they were all standing there as if they were watching a show.
"All right. We’ll take this one down first!"
The Stage SS fighters charged Henry at once, bombarding him with one skill after another.
Henry kept his hands clasped behind his back, looking down on them as if they weren’t worth his attention.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Their attacks slammed into him.
"Pfft! Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!"
Briggs, who had only just been helped back to his feet, spat out several mouthfuls of blood and collapsed again.
When the others prepared to launch another round, Briggs hurriedly screamed, "Stop! Stop attacking!"
"...?"
They turned to him in confusion.
"You’re the one who told us to attack. Why are you telling us to stop now?"
"Because if you keep going, you’re going to fucking kill me!" Briggs roared.
"What? Why?" They stared at him blankly.
"He must have used some kind of special skill. Whenever you attack him, I’m the one who takes the damage!" Briggs finally understood what was happening.
"A skill like that exists? Then how are we supposed to fight him?"
Briggs froze.
A moment ago, he’d been swearing they would take Henry down. Now Henry was standing there offering himself up as a target, and none of them dared touch him.
This was complete bullshit.
"Briggs, I think his skill swaps damage between the two of you," Stefan said with certainty. "When we attack him, you get hurt. So if we attack you, he should be the one who takes the damage."
The others’ eyes lit up.
"That makes sense."
"Yeah, I think Stefan’s right."
Briggs was tempted. After a moment, he lowered his voice and said, "Fine. Try it, but take it easy."
The words had barely left his mouth when a barrage of attacks struck him.
"Pfft!"
Briggs took another round of damage he never should have suffered. His eyes rolled back, and he passed out on the spot.
"..."
Everyone watching was dumbfounded.
Were they seriously beating up their own leader now? Was this supposed to be some kind of trick?
Did these idiots even know who they were dealing with?
This was the Fallen Star Squad, a group capable of wiping a country off the map without batting an eye. What exactly was this pathetic little act supposed to accomplish?
Stefan and the others were just as stunned.
That shouldn’t have happened.
Why was Briggs still the one taking damage? Where had their reasoning gone wrong?
Henry shook his head and walked toward them.
The other Stage SS fighters immediately backed away. By now, they were utterly terrified of him.
But in their retreat, they left the unconscious Briggs lying where he was.
Henry walked up, grabbed Briggs by the ankle, and dragged him toward Vivian without sparing the others a glance.
Not one of the Cathay Republic fighters dared to stop him. They could only watch as he hauled Briggs away.
What else could they do? Attacking Henry meant attacking Briggs, and Briggs had already taken more than enough punishment. Another round might actually kill him.
Under the admiring gazes of everyone present, Henry dragged the Cathay Republic’s leader across the ground like a dead dog and brought him back to the Atlas Federation’s side.
From beginning to end, Henry had only attacked once—the initial slap.
After that, he had simply stood there with his hands behind his back and let the enemy defeat themselves.
Just like that, he had taken down a Stage SS fighter.
It was fucking incredible.
Everyone in New Atlas now looked at Henry with open admiration.
In their minds, Henry had always been the Fallen Star Squad’s support specialist. They’d assumed he wasn’t much of a fighter himself.
Only now did they realize just how terrifying he was.
As expected, the Fallen Star Squad didn’t have a single weak member.
Henry dragged Briggs over to Vivian and smiled.
"Vivian, I brought him to you. What happens next is up to you."
Vivian stared at Henry in a daze, practically seeing hearts.
It had started as one of Ethan’s jokes, but as she slowly got to know Henry, things had changed.
Even so, Vivian had never been entirely sure how she felt about him.
She liked powerful men, and before the apocalypse, Henry’s thin frame certainly hadn’t made him look strong.
After the apocalypse, however, strength had nothing to do with physique.
There was no longer any question that Henry was powerful.
Every member of the Fallen Star Squad was. Any one of them could beckon, and countless beautiful women would flock to their side.
That often left Vivian feeling insecure. At first, she had looked down on Henry. Later, she began to wonder if she was good enough for him.
She knew she was beautiful, but her build was... imposing.
A lot of men weren’t attracted to women built like her. To her surprise, Henry was. She was exactly his type, and in the end, the two of them had gotten together.
Still, Vivian’s feelings for him had never been particularly deep.
But at this moment, she had to admit it.
Her heart was pounding.
Damn, Henry had been ridiculously hot just now.
