Jie Su unleashed piercing light lines from his Following Formation, shredding the Armored Thorn Race assassin who then detonated into a deadly flesh-energy mass. A golden-masked warrior shoved him to safety at the last moment. Meanwhile, a giant fist shadow breached Qiemen's sealed space, hurling the Phantom Killer Clan leader toward Ye Zhongming, only for a black-robed Librarian to swat him away with a massive palm.

Ye Zhongming winced sharply just from observing nearby.

He clearly witnessed that palm blow warping the body of the formerly overbearing Clan Leader Qiemen.

Yet prior to crashing down, the massive palm silhouette lashed out once more. Accompanied by another crisp 'pa', Qiemen was flung off in a fresh direction.

In this way, the enormous palm shadow kept striking relentlessly, batting the Phantom Killer Clan's leader back and forth like a toy. In the end, he looked nothing like a person anymore, merely a chunk of humanoid decayed flesh.

Ye Zhongming couldn't stop himself from shaking his head. What a flashy debut he pulled off before, what swaggering boasts. And now? Fist-launched into the air first, then palmed into oblivion.

He had no idea whether the Phantom Killer Clan retained any heirs. Absent those, their total annihilation was complete.

Having slain the foe, the Librarian stepped up to Ye Zhongming, lifting his chin slightly to expose half his features.

"I apologize."

Ye Zhongming's frame shuddered upon hearing this.

Although he'd never observed Cheng Liujin or the pair of Star-Eye Lords in combat, he was certain that even united, the three Star-Eye Clan members couldn't rival this opponent. Slaying an elite assassin with ease, this individual would undoubtedly stand out even among the prominent clans.

A figure of such caliber, offering an apology to someone holding just thousands in Furelai... Even habituated to his role as Cloud Peak King, Ye Zhongming struggled to cope.

"Should you assist in resolving our issue, it's more than mere gratitude—I'll grant any demand." Sensing Ye Zhongming's reaction, he pressed on: "I'll shadow you until your departure. Fear not."

"This place..."

Ye Zhongming gestured toward the battlefield.

"We sealed off the vicinity entirely before arriving. The old dean's wish is to make it as if nothing transpired, handling it discreetly on our own."

A brief stun hit Ye Zhongming, but comprehension dawned swiftly.

Revealing the event would ignite a storm. The cosmic races would launch a collective probe. Ye Zhongming and his group might secure vindication, with would-be killers hesitating henceforth. Still, the Librarians faced grave risk of exposure.

Truth be told, the old dean had devoted two decades to concealing eight hundred fifty Librarians. Unnoticed, this remained feasible amid privations. But suspicion could unravel it all; unmasking even one in the city wouldn't prove arduous, dooming the rest.

On this front, the old dean's choice to quash it outright was wisest.

Provided Ye Zhongming and allies stayed silent, the assassination's schemers wouldn't broadcast it either. Absent scrutiny, the Librarians' secret endured. This served Library Palace and Ye Zhongming optimally.

Concerning potential future hits, Ye Zhongming retained confidence in countermeasures. This instance marked uncharacteristic negligence.

"I realize returning poses challenges, given the fatalities. Yet we've seized live captives from the assassins. Their intel heads your way promptly. Explaining to the Star-Eye Clan falls to you, as does liaising with the Su Clan."

Ye Zhongming nodded. This demanded little effort. A single utterance sufficed for Star-Eye Clan or Jie Su.

"But this place..."

Ye Zhongming indicated the nearby structures. Though alley-facing windows were scarce and elevated, some existed. The ravaged pavement, bodies, and ruined eatery all required cleanup.

"We'll manage it flawlessly." With those words, the Librarian retreated fluidly without apparent effort, vanishing shortly. At that moment, footsteps echoed from the alley's end as Jie Su and the golden-masked warrior hurried in.

The gory remains sprawled on the ground left Jie Su and the golden-masked warrior dumbfounded.

Jie Su had merely speculated that, with a elite assassin targeting him, the attacker on Ye Zhongming would surely be formidable too—considering the guards he brought along. Since those guards had dashed over to rescue him, Ye Zhongming would likely face a utterly hopeless situation if he hadn't already been slain there. However, the actual outcome diverged sharply from his expectations.

The golden-masked warrior felt even greater astonishment.

He recalled sensing a tremendous energy surge upon his departure, surpassing the assassin he'd battled directly earlier. Based on the scene, that force originated from the body sprawled on the floor—well, that mound of shredded flesh. At the very least, this individual's Furelai exceeded thirty-five thousand in life, potentially climbing to forty thousand or beyond. Then how could a Bronze Order Leader with Furelai below ten thousand have slain him?

Numerous doubts swirled through their thoughts.

Regardless, Ye Zhongming emerging unscathed proved a relief.

"Did you notify your people?" As the pair reached him, Ye Zhongming took the initiative to question.

"Notified." Jie Su answered.

"Suppress this matter later." Ye Zhongming realized details could wait, thus he dragged the duo off.

"This place..." Jie Su attempted to speak more, yet got yanked away forcefully. Aware his companion had a scheme brewing, he held back questions and trailed after Ye Zhongming.

Shortly after, they climbed aboard the Su Clan's aircraft, joined by the rescuers Jie Su had called.

"Can you tell me now?"

Once the aircraft lifted off, Jie Su seized an opportunity to near Ye Zhongming and probe the earlier events.

Ye Zhongming pondered briefly before responding, "That assassin truly wasn't slain by me. Another person handled it on my behalf. But I'm truly sorry, I can't disclose their identity without consent. Rest assured, though, it won't impact our dealings at all."

Jie Su stared fixedly at Ye Zhongming momentarily, then nodded without pursuing it further. Instead, he added, "Have you truly chosen not to head back with me straightaway? But to visit the Star-Eye Clan initially?"

Negotiations with the Su Clan were bound to entangle the Star-Eye Clan extensively. Despite the high regard his clan held for him, Ye Zhongming remained merely a Bronze Order Leader. Caution was still essential in many instances.

"Convincing you proves simple, given our aligned visions, mutual comprehension, and lack of nitpicking over profits. Negotiating with your clan members differs greatly. Forget about me—even if the two Star-Eye Lords showed up in person, they could end up cooling their heels outside for a full month. Thus, return first to relay the message and arrange preparations."

Ye Zhongming spoke deliberately, evidently mulling over his words.

"Don't expect too much from me; my influence in the clan is limited." Jie Su spoke candidly.

"High influence isn't required. Simply inform them. Upon my arrival, I'll demonstrate some... unique elements."
