Leon and Morin head towards the kingdom's exit, discussing the ancient world tree and the dungeon's ability to force it to create teleportation gates. Dusk reveals that dungeons have a limit for sentient beings, and exceeding it can cause an "overload," freeing all monsters. The ground shakes violently as giants fight below, and Leon insists Morin take him to them despite the danger. Morin complies, and they leave the kingdom, with Morin questioning Leon's motives. Leon uses a skill that blackens his eyes, frightening Morin, and warns Dusk to silence him if he asks more questions. They reach the path to the lower floor, a massive staircase hidden underground. Upon entering, Leon finds himself in a "NULL MANA" zone where magic is negated. Morin reveals it's a trap, mocks Leon, and seals the entrance, declaring that no one returns from there.

"Hahh... Haah... Haah..." Leon found himself slumped on a stair, panting heavily, with Dusk resting beside him, both utterly exhausted.

"How many stairs did we climb again?" Leon inquired in a hushed tone, massive beads of sweat cascading down his brow.

"Twenty-eight, master..." Dusk responded, his voice strained with fatigue.

"Yeah... Just two more to go." Leon observed, glancing downwards to see a faint light seeping from beneath a colossal metallic door.

"Master... I feel so helpless without my mana," Dusk uttered, summoning his remaining strength to rise once more.

"Come on..." Leon urged, immediately sliding off the stair and landing on the 29th step.

[YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY ESCAPED FROM THE {NULL MANA} ZONE!!]

[Magic usage will be restored shortly.]

’The stairs between levels function as null mana zones, but why? Why solely the stairs? Is it a deterrent to prevent anything from ascending or descending—’ Before Leon could finish his musings, he spotted a collection of human and elf skeletons strewn across the final stair.

*Thud*

The moment Dusk’s paws touched the stair, his fur erupted in a brilliant blue luminescence, his body expanding as he reverted to his original form.

"Now this feels right..." Dusk exclaimed with a grin, beginning to groom his glistening fur.

"Hmm... Something is amiss," Leon commented, his gaze fixed on the skeletons with a stern expression.

"What troubles you, master?" Dusk inquired, a puzzled look on his face as he too observed the macabre sight.

"Skeletons are typically white or yellowish after prolonged exposure, but why are these ones black?" Leon questioned, bewildered.

"It’s as if they are—"

"Charred," Leon finished for Dusk, anticipating his thought.

"Morin wasn't fabricating stories about the heat. The temperature beyond this door is indeed scorching. They must have attempted to squeeze through that narrow gap underneath and were incinerated instantly," he declared, his expression grave.

"Master... Should we retreat and eliminate that elf?" Dusk proposed, his tone impassive.

*THUD-THUD-THUD-THUD-THUD*

Abruptly, the entire staircase began to tremble ferociously once again.

"I didn’t descend this far merely to retreat, Dusk. We will deal with that fellow, but first, I must enter that chamber," Leon stated calmly, leaping to the final stair.

Dusk followed close behind him.

*SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*

Suddenly, a blast of intensely hot wind struck them both, emanating from the gap beneath the door.

The heat was so extreme that Leon’s skin instantly turned ruddy, and all moisture within his body seemed to evaporate into sweat.

"Master... I cannot endure this. My fur is scorching," Dusk cried out, swiftly retreating to the twenty-ninth stair.

Leon immediately activated his skill.

<Adaptive Body>

[User’s body is experiencing extreme heat on the outside.]

[Altering skin genes to adapt.]

In mere seconds, his skin darkened and hardened, pores sealing shut, the outermost layer rapidly thickening into a near-ceramic consistency.

[Rewiring Blood flow away from body surface.]

[Adjusting Sweat Gland to extract heat-resistant oils.]

[Adjusting whole respiratory system to cool down air and mucus protection.]

[Adjusting body temperature to lessen the temperature differential.]

[Touch senses will be decreased by 70%]

[Total Stamina will be decreased by 35%]

’Phew... Much cooler now. Adaptive Body truly went all out this time, completely transforming my skin,’ Leon mused with a placid expression. He cautiously approached one of the skeletons, but upon mere contact, it crumbled into dust.

"As anticipated," Leon murmured softly, proceeding towards the gap under the door.

"Master... Please do not venture there. I cannot follow you inside," Dusk implored.

"Remain here... I shall return shortly," Leon assured him, slipping through the gap into the room.

"Master..." Dusk whispered, his gaze fixed on the spot where Leon had vanished.

...

The instant Leon entered the chamber, the temperature and pressure surged dramatically.

"What in blazes is this place?" Leon questioned under his breath, looking up to behold a colossal mountain of black rocks before him, slick with a verdant liquid.

He cautiously approached the emerald fluid and employed his ability.

"A Diamond Garler? What is—" Before Leon could finish his sentence,

*THUD-THUD-THUD-THUD-THUD*

The entire floor convulsed with a tremendous force, so intensely that Leon nearly lost his footing. As he looked up, however, his gaze fell upon two colossal monsters locked in a fierce battle.

One of them resembled a lengthy lizard, its body entirely encased in hardened, dark scales from snout to tail. Attached to its tail was a massive, spiked orb akin to a morning star, crafted from a pulsating purple crystal, exuding a deadly aura.

"Bloody hell..." Leon uttered, his voice laced with shock. He immediately activated his skill upon the creature.

The adversary of the Bullmaster stood taller, its height nearing seventy meters, and its form was completely adorned with brilliant diamonds. Both of its clenched fists were equipped with menacingly sharp diamond gauntlets, yet it wasn't implied to be invulnerable.

Without a moment's delay, Leon employed his skill on this second formidable being as well.

’Damn it… My cultivation level is far too inadequate to even decipher their statistics or gain any insights into their descriptions,’ Leon mused internally, his expression hardening as he continued to observe their titanic clash.
