A woman on the top floor of Caldwell Tower ordered her men to stop their brutal assault on a young man named Osborne. She inquired if he was ready to sign the divorce papers, implying his current state was a consequence of his refusal.

“Consume us?”

Akame’s demeanor instantly sharpened at the utterance.

Yet, she hadn’t fully grasped Kurome’s intended meaning.

Her interpretation was strictly literal, relating to the act of consuming food.

“Blayn, I won’t permit you to devour Kurome. If you absolutely must consume someone, then take me instead.”

Akame positioned herself protectively before Kurome, ready to sacrifice herself if necessary.

Her thoughts, naturally, were centered on the concept of being eaten.

“Do not be absurd. I have no intention of harming either of you—neither the ‘eating’ that Akame envisions nor the ‘eating’ that Kurome implies.”

Blayn emitted a sigh, his hand instinctively going to his forehead in exasperation.

“That is a relief.”

A palpable sigh of relief escaped Akame.

“On a related note... how is the hot spring treating you? How are you feeling, Kurome?”

Blayn directed his inquiry specifically towards Kurome.

For himself, the spring offered no tangible benefit; he carried no residual internal injuries to begin with.

“I can already discern a significant improvement. My body feels considerably lighter, and my thoughts are far more lucid…”

Kurome articulated, absorbing the rejuvenating sensations.

She had managed to maintain a semblance of normalcy previously solely due to her long-standing adaptation to the hidden afflictions she endured.

The resilience of human adaptability is truly remarkable. It mirrors how an individual experiencing persistent, mild headaches might eventually grow accustomed to them, proceeding through daily life without significant disruption.

Kurome’s situation was analogous; she had become desensitized to the adverse effects stemming from the pharmaceuticals administered by the Empire’s infamous Assassination Unit.

However, now, under the influence of the spring’s restorative properties, even the gradual return to her natural state felt like a profound transformation.

“That is excellent news.”

Blayn offered a nod of affirmation.

His gaze then shifted to Akame.

“And how about you, Akame?”

“...I too feel marginally lighter. It appears my body has indeed been accumulating detrimental effects from wielding the demon sword Murasame.”

A quiet sigh escaped Akame.

“Splendid. Let us remain here for an additional couple of days, then.”

Blayn proposed.

Even if it provided him no personal advantage—having been brought here solely by the insistence of Akame and Kurome—it represented a valuable opportunity to share time with them.

At that precise moment, Blayn couldn’t help but feel a surge of relief that Akame had never accessed Murasame’s ultimate power.

She had once confided in him about its secret technique—a complete transformation into the demon sword itself by renouncing her humanity. The repercussions of such an act were undeniably severe.

Were such an event to occur, not even the miraculous properties of the secret spring would suffice to restore her.

Perceiving Blayn’s attention directed towards her, or perhaps noticing his faraway gaze, Akame inquired,

“Is something amiss?”

“No, merely a recollection of an unpleasant matter.”

Blayn responded casually.

Abruptly, Kurome—who had somehow maneuvered behind him—initiated a sudden, surprise assault.

“Take this!”

“You are quite the playful one.”

Blayn exhibited no surprise. He had registered Kurome’s movement the instant she disappeared from his field of vision.

She enveloped him from behind in an embrace, resting her chin upon his shoulder.

Blayn could distinctly sense the gentle pressure against his back—subtle, yet undeniably present.

“Blayn, just focus on me. Cease dwelling on negative thoughts.”

Kurome articulated, her cheeks slightly puffed out.

“Very well, I shall cease my ruminations.”

Blayn gave his word.

“You had best not.”

A radiant smile of pure happiness bloomed across Kurome’s face.

Witnessing this tender exchange, Akame felt compelled to sigh.

“Kurome is undeniably fond of you.”

After a brief interval, she added,

“However, I wish to remain with Kurome eternally… What course of action should I pursue?”

“...”

Blayn remained silent.

Kurome’s playful demeanor faltered for a fleeting moment.

Then, regaining her composure, she gently nudged Blayn towards Akame and, reaching across him, clasped her sister’s hand.

“Sister, could we not simply reside together, always?”
