Mine was completely stunned—she never expected Blayn to inquire about something so unexpected.
Even Chelsea was a little taken aback. Blayn's query was remarkably direct. Had he posed this question to someone he wasn't close with, she would have likely found it off-putting immediately.
“Y-You… what are you even saying?!”
Once she snapped out of her stupor, Mine's reaction was intense. Her face flushed a bright red, the blush extending all the way to her ears.
“I’m asking if you like me,” Blayn repeated, his tone serious.
“I… I get that! What I mean is, why are you suddenly asking me this?” Mine inquired, her voice low and still flustered.
“Because I want to make things clear. I don’t want to continue being confused about this,” Blayn explained with solemnity.
“I see…”
Mine remained somewhat dazed but more or less grasped his reasoning.
Her initial impulse was to deny it out of sheer embarrassment, but she compelled herself to hold back. This was an unforeseen and opportune moment—being asked directly by Blayn was far simpler than confessing on her own, sparing her the overwhelming mortification.
“Wait, let me gather my thoughts first.”
She inhaled deeply before mumbling, “I wouldn’t say I like you that much, but… I do like you a little… just a tiny bit…”
Despite having made up her mind, she still couldn't conquer her shyness and be completely candid.
“Even now, little Mine is still so stubborn…”
Chelsea, technically a rival in this scenario, couldn't help but grumble internally.
“So you do like me?” Blayn bypassed the roundabout phrasing Mine had used.
“…Y-Yeah…” Mine admitted, looking embarrassed.
“I understand. I’ll take responsibility—I won’t let you get hurt.”
Blayn placed his hands gently on Mine’s shoulders, his expression unusually grave.
Mine was momentarily rendered speechless.
“Then… you’re staying with me tonight.”
The redness on Mine’s face subsided slightly as she spoke with unexpected firmness.
“Hold on, what’s this flat-chested girl talking about? Blayn should be with me tonight,” Chelsea interjected, stepping forward.
“I am NOT flat-chested! Wait, were you also unexpectedly asked something like this by Blayn?” Mine questioned, her curiosity piqued.
“Nope, I confessed to him first,” Chelsea replied casually.
Although, she didn’t claim credit for Mine’s predicament—if anything, her confession was what finally prompted Blayn to think properly.
“I see…” Mine nodded slightly.
“You two sneaky little kittens, did you really think I wouldn’t notice?”
A familiar voice suddenly emanated from behind them.
Both girls turned to see Esdeath standing there, a knowing smirk adorning her face.
Chelsea’s expression intensified. Of all the “rivals” she faced, Esdeath was undoubtedly the most formidable.
It all stemmed from Esdeath’s personality—she acted on her desires without hesitation and wouldn’t think twice about resorting to force if required.
“No need to be so on guard. You’re all individuals Blayn cares about, so I won’t harm you,” Esdeath stated calmly. “However, let’s be clear—I have no intention of playing nice with you. Tonight, Blayn belongs to me.”
...
Naturally, Mine and Chelsea refused to yield, and in the end, all three squeezed into Blayn’s room.
Inevitably, under these circumstances, nothing was going to transpire.
That night, Blayn ended up serving as a human pillow for Mine, Chelsea, and Esdeath.
…
The following day, Blayn hadn't forgotten Chelsea's words from the previous night.
Since he had already resolved to commit fully, he sought out the last individual about whom he harbored doubts—Seryu.
He merely wished to confirm something. If all of Seryu’s past actions were solely driven by respect and admiration for him as her master, then he would continue to regard their relationship as that of a typical master and disciple.
“Seryu, it appears that every time I visit you, you’re engaged in training. Your dedication is truly commendable,” Blayn remarked as he observed her once more in the midst of an intense session.
“I must strive twice as hard—I have no desire to fall further behind you, Master!”
Despite being drenched in sweat, Seryu remained brimming with energy and resolve.
“However, you should exercise caution not to overexert yourself,” Blayn advised with concern. “Pushing yourself too relentlessly will yield no benefits.”
“So, is there something you require from me, Master? If there’s anything I can assist with, I shall exert my utmost effort!” Seryu inquired eagerly.
“I simply wished to clarify something, Seryu. How do you perceive me? Is it the affectionate feelings shared between lovers, or merely the standard bond between a master and their disciple?”
The instant she heard his question, Seryu froze as if her cognitive functions had ceased. Her expression became rigid, and for a considerable duration, she was unable to reply.
It was evident—this was a question she had never seriously contemplated before.
After an extended period, she finally responded, albeit hesitantly.
“…If cherishing someone as a lover implies experiencing feelings akin to General Esdeath’s, then I suppose… I still simply regard you as my master.”
“I see… precisely as I anticipated,” Blayn stated, his expression betraying no surprise at her answer.
Seryu had always treated him in a manner distinct from how she acted with anyone else, after all.
"But, Master, haven't you already..."
Seryu stopped midsentence, unable to hide her inner worry.
"It's of no consequence. You all belong to me." Blayn declared with a smile.
His decision was made, and there was absolutely no chance of him backtracking now.
