Akame ga Kill: Starting with Dual Kamui Chapter 150: Chelsea’s Confession

~5 minute read · 1,293 words

A cry of alarm erupted! "What in the world is happening?!"

"Look at them! What manner of beings are those?!"

...The sudden materialization of a colossal ice cavalry, most notably Susanoo, struck the entire battlefield with disbelief—even the Empire's forces were taken aback. It was entirely unexpected that Blayn and Esdeath would arrive so abruptly, let alone witness Esdeath unleash the power of her Ice Cavalry for the very first time.

With Esdeath herself descending into the fray, effortlessly dismantling the enemy ranks with her overwhelming might, the tide of the conflict turned decisively.

"It's General Esdeath! Those ice cavalry units were summoned by General Esdeath!"

"General Esdeath has returned at this crucial juncture—this is truly magnificent!"

"Indeed! Victory is assured! With both General Esdeath and the Great General present, we shall undoubtedly crush those motley rebels!"

"Even Lord Blayn appears to be here. Observe that colossal blue entity beside the General—does it not bear an uncanny resemblance to Lord Blayn's own manifested ability?"

...In that instant, the morale of the Empire's army surged exponentially.

At this pivotal moment, Blayn proceeded to activate Susanoo's fourth transformation, a form recognized as the "Tengu Form." In this enhanced state, Susanoo was adorned with formidable Tengu armor over its existing structure, lending it an even more imposing presence. Its sheer dimensions had also expanded dramatically, now towering well over one hundred meters in height.

This represented the absolute zenith of his current capabilities, a state he could not sustain for an extended duration—yet, a single, precise strike was all that was requisite to bring the battle to its conclusion.

The appearance of the gargantuan Susanoo instilled an unimaginable sense of dread and hopelessness within the Teigu Users.

Blayn remained silent, offering only a subtle gesture to Great General Budo, signaling him to yield the front lines.

Then, with deliberate intent, he unleashed a sweeping blow with his blade.

The sword stroke was executed with blinding speed and finality, projecting a devastating wave of pure energy that seemed poised to engulf the very heavens and earth, annihilating all that lay in its destructive path.

The sheer potency of this singular attack irrevocably altered the landscape of the battlefield. Within a radius of ten thousand meters ahead, the land itself was reshaped, transforming into a colossal, newly formed canyon.

As for the Teigu Users unfortunate enough to be caught within the attack's formidable range? Not a single vestige of them remained. None.

The sheer magnificence of the display left every soldier utterly transfixed, their gazes locked in silent awe towards the colossal Susanoo.

The Empire's forces were profoundly impacted. While they had long acknowledged Lord Blayn as the Empire's preeminent power, the magnitude of strength he had just demonstrated far surpassed their most extravagant imaginings.

Conversely, the Revolutionary Army and their foreign confederates were utterly demoralized. Many dropped their weapons in resignation, while some simply collapsed to their knees, consumed by despair.

"This... how could we possibly prevail...?"

"It is finished... we are verily doomed..."

...With a solitary, decisive slash, the enemy army's fighting spirit was irrevocably shattered.

There was scarcely anyone left with the resolve to continue the fight.

Blayn refrained from launching a second assault—it was an unnecessary risk, potentially endangering his own troops. His prior attack had been meticulously directed to circumvent the positions of the regular soldiers.

Furthermore, the upkeep of Susanoo's fourth form exacted a tremendous toll on his energy reserves; consequently, he had already initiated its deactivation.

Now, the only remaining task was the swift consolidation of the battlefield.

The Revolutionary Army combatants and the foreign contingents were promptly reclassified as prisoners of war. Blayn's directives were explicit: they were to be kept alive.

They would receive sustenance and humane treatment, but they were also expected to contribute through labor.

The resources these captives would generate—such as agricultural produce and textiles—would undoubtedly offset the expenses incurred by their upkeep. The Empire harbored no intention of supporting a cohort of idle detainees.

Considering the prevailing conditions of this epoch, the mere act of sparing their lives constituted a profound act of clemency.

...Not long thereafter, the attempted incursion by the external tribal forces was decisively quelled.

The remaining members of the Revolutionary Army who had aligned with Najenda were repatriated to the Empire, where they were subsequently assigned stable civilian roles or directly integrated into the military ranks. Najenda, once again, ascended to the prestigious station of Imperial General, while Bulat's exceptional martial prowess earned him a similar generalship. Akame, however, exhibited no desire for elevated status—her sole aspiration was to remain in close proximity to her younger sister, Kurome.

With both internal discord and external threats largely neutralized, there remained minimal cause for heightened apprehension. The internal strife no longer warranted discourse, and the sole external concern had been the foreign tribal incursions. However, these same tribes were now utterly subdued, demonstrably hesitant to provoke any disturbances along the Empire's frontiers.

Following the successful resolution of the Revolutionary Army conflict, Chelsea found herself free from the burden of suppressing her innate emotions. Previously, she had harbored reservations regarding decisive action, a stark contrast to Kurome, who had reacted with immediate alacrity to the formidable threat posed by Esdeath.

Late one evening, Chelsea seized a fortuitous opportunity to request a private audience with Blayn.

"Is there a particular reason for summoning me so late in the evening?" Blayn inquired.

"Indeed, it is something quite particular—after all, I am preparing to confess my affections," Chelsea stated with nonchalant grace.

"Confess...?" Blayn found himself momentarily taken aback; the declaration had been exceedingly abrupt.

"Yeah, I do like you. This might seem a bit sudden, but that's what I wanted to tell you."

Chelsea's cheeks tinged with a light blush; she couldn't help but feel a little nervous.

Blayn paused for a moment, then spoke with a hint of inner conflict, "Kurome, and now you too... Honestly, this puts me in a difficult position. I don't wish to cause any of you pain, but I feel like a terrible person because of it..."

"Are you still bothered by that?" Chelsea let out a soft laugh. "Besides Kurome and me, there's also Seryu and Mine who have feelings for you. And I wouldn't even rule out Akame."

"So just face the reality – you're already a complete scumbag."

Blayn was left without words.

He had, of course, long noticed the feelings of Seryu and Mine, but without explicit confirmation, he hadn't dwelled on it.

"If you truly don't want to hurt us, then embrace it and take responsibility. At the very least, you need to take responsibility for me," Chelsea stated. Her tone was lighthearted, but her final words carried a definite seriousness.

After a period of deep thought, Blayn nodded solemnly. "...I understand. I will take responsibility for you, and I will also clarify things with the others."

"So, does that mean you accept my confession?" Chelsea inquired.

"Yeah," Blayn confirmed with a nod.

Chelsea beamed with happiness. Yet, as joy surged through her heart, a pang of regret suddenly struck her – she likely shouldn't have mentioned Seryu and Mine. Observing Blayn's serious expression, it seemed he was about to address the situation.

Just then, Mine made her appearance.

"What are you two doing out here so late? Shouldn't you be getting some sleep?"

Upon hearing Mine's voice, Blayn immediately walked over to her.

Noticing his serious demeanor, Mine instinctively stood straighter, assuming something significant had occurred.

"Mine, do you like me?"

Blayn posed the question directly, without any hesitation or forewarning.
