Nierka volunteers to be a hostage in exchange for a necromancer. She moves the necromancer, Lynn, to a guest room and forces him to write a letter to Garrett, detailing the strength of the Eagle God's Kingdom. Lynn deliberately includes warnings and a secret mark. Nierka then takes the letter to Garrett, offering herself as a hostage and warning him not to harm her.

"Stop!"

Before Garrett could take action, the Red Hawk Tribe Chief, serving as both the host and witness, recklessly rushed over from Garrett's left side:

"Don't do it—ah!"

He lunged forward, only to be flung back, screaming in pain. The phantom red hawk around him wailed endlessly, its wing feathers burnt halfway off. Even the chief's hand turned black, and despite the thick fur covering his arm, a burnt stench permeated the air.

Gritting his teeth, he glared at Nierka, drew a dagger from his waist, and slashed it across his elbow. A light laugh echoed through the temple as the black mist swiftly retreated. A small black snake with white spots flew out from Nierka's hair, bit down on the chief's arm, and sucked hard.

In moments, the snake's body swelled, and the chief's hand gradually regained its color. He stared viciously at Nierka but dared not speak again, much less interfere on Garrett's behalf.

Sigh, fighting the Golden Eagle Warriors head-on was manageable, but this snake woman was truly strange!

Without feeling her strike, he was already poisoned inside the black mist...

"What’s going on!"

At his shout, Cirilla rushed in. Looking left and right, her face instantly turned furious, positioning herself between Garrett and the snake woman:

"What do you mean by this? Want to fight?"

"Nothing much." Nierka's face remained calm, even smiling slightly:

"I just wanted this Son of the Gods to see the power of the snake woman. I'll be staying here for the next few months, so don't provoke me. Don't think that just because I'm here, I’m truly your hostage! As for this chief—"

Her eyes shifted:

"I had no intention of harming him. In fact, I restrained my power in front of the Son of the Gods; it was he who charged in..."

"Are you asking for a beating?"

Cirilla had already clenched her fists. Garrett, however, quickly skimmed through the letter, stood up calmly, and raised a hand to stop her:

"Wait. Cirilla, let me handle this."

"You?"

The Silver Dragon Lady immediately turned around, her anger disappearing, replaced with concern and worry:

"Let me beat her up! I can definitely take her!"

That Red Hawk Tribe Chief could easily defeat Baronessimo; his combat level was at least two levels higher. Baronessimo was a level 12 warrior, three levels higher than Garrett. So... can you really do it?

"If I can’t, you’re here to back me up, right? Don’t worry, I can hold out for a few seconds until you come to rescue me~~~"

Pouting, Cirilla reluctantly nodded. Garrett smiled, took a step forward:

"Want me to see the power of the snake woman? Then come on! Let’s not fight indoors and break things!"

"Oh?"

Nierka raised an eyebrow, looking Garrett up and down, left and right, with a scrutinizing gaze. She nodded slightly, pulling out a cold smile:

"Since you insist, let’s try it. Rest assured, as long as you beg for mercy in time, for Lynn’s sake, I won’t hurt you."

Garrett said nothing and walked out first. Cirilla followed closely, stuffing items into his arms: rings, bracelets, armbands, a pocket watch, a tie, a headband...

Garrett couldn’t help but laugh. Most of these items were thank-you gifts from the grand mages after Cirilla carried them out of the magical storm during the Siege of Ostend—

Considering they were heading to the New World, these magical items were primarily defensive or offensive in nature. Ostensibly for Cirilla, they were mostly meant for Garrett.

These items had already been distributed before departure, with Cirilla piling most of the defensive items onto Garrett. Now, even the offensive ones were being handed over.

"Okay, okay, that’s enough. My mental energy is limited too." He had to hold Cirilla's hand:

"If I really can’t beat her, you can step in, alright?"

Pouting, Cirilla reluctantly nodded. Garrett walked a few steps away, summoned the Oak Staff, let it return to its original form on the ground, and pointed it at Nierka:

"Come on!"

"You asked for this!" Nierka whistled sharply. Instantly, the black mist surged, enveloping her slender figure and expanding rapidly. In a breath, it covered even the spot where Garrett stood.

Within the black mist, phosphorescent lights flickered, weaving together into the shape of a cobra that rose high, ready to strike with its jaws wide open.

At the center of the black mist, Garrett stood quietly, surrounded by a small patch of clear space. He clasped his hands together, watching as the black mist approached, expanded—

"Ah!!!"

From Garrett’s position, a dazzling strong light burst forth. The phosphorescence abruptly retreated, and the black mist scattered like snow in boiling water, clearing a large space instantly. Nierka stepped back, raising a hand to shield her eyes, tears streaming down her face:

"What is this! What is this!"

Radiant Shield.

Cirilla chuckled softly, her eyes sparkling, forming crescent moons. She reached out to touch the air, then regretfully lowered her hand:

The lightning-formed shield had a particularly strong destructive power against dark, death-aligned forces—and with that Lightning Cat around, Garrett's lightning spells were at least one tier stronger.

Too bad she couldn’t pet the cat now, only after the fight...

Of course, what satisfied her more was Garrett's habit of setting up a force field barrier within the Radiant Shield, protecting himself perfectly:

Top, bottom, left, right, forming a perfect sphere. Now, Garrett stood on the force field barrier, with his head tightly covered, holding a tube of liquid nitrogen between his fingers. Even if the double shields broke, he could instantly create an ice wall.

In his other hand, he held two vials as usual. One with potassium permanganate, the other with nitrocellulose, aimed forward, ready to activate spell constructs—

"Boom!!!"

Centered on Garrett, a ring of blinding white flames erupted outward. The level five spell, Advanced Explosive Flame, fully unleashed under double amplification.

With almost no reaction time, the black mist, the phosphorescence within it, and the phosphorescent cobra were all incinerated.

"No—"

Nierka screamed. Her hair! Her snakes! Her power!

Taking this blast head-on burned away half of it! That was the power she nurtured through daily prayers to the Serpent God, nightly gathering death energy, bathing herself in the Serpent God's aura!

As a snake woman, teetering on the brink of life and death, she relied on the little life force left in her to accept and merge with the Serpent God's power. Each use of this life force diminished it!

She desperately withdrew the black energy, but lightning and flames followed, causing her to cough up blood. From afar, the elven girl shouted:

"Garrett! Beat her up! Beat her up hard!"
