Garrett and Aishe Moon Song successfully evacuated several villages using the Ancient Vine Bird, but the strenuous journey left them exhausted. Cirilla, meanwhile, continued to eat silver ingots, baffling Garrett. As they rested, they overheard talk of imminent danger from enemy experts, prompting discussions about conserving strength for a potential confrontation, while elsewhere, Adrian Lopez desperately searched a dense rainforest for a stolen treasure.

Adrian Lopez's face was as stern as water.

He followed the light at full speed, but found neither treasure nor enemies, only a group of his nation's soldiers scattered about, looking defeated.

—No, not "looking," they were indeed a group of defeated soldiers.

They sat dejectedly under tree roots or in bushes, or fought over a few pieces of stone. Their pant legs were rolled up, shirts unbuttoned, belts either loose or undone. Eight out of ten had removed their boots, using half of their shirts to fan themselves.

Every one of them was caked in mud, their faces and bodies so filthy that there wasn’t a clean spot to be found. Nearby, dozens of mules and horses were tethered here and there, their backs empty, more resembling a food reserve than pack animals.

They wore pained expressions, rubbing their clothing or scratching their feet. After a while, they used their feet-scratching hands to grab meat from the fire to eat…

Even though he was flying in the air, far from the mountain breeze, Adrian Lopez instinctively muttered a prayer, letting a pure white light sweep over his body.

The nauseating stench finally disappeared…

He didn't even plan to land, hovering in the low air as he coldly surveyed these soldiers. When they saw the white light illuminate the camp, they scrambled to their feet, pulling at their clothes, balancing on one leg as they put on their boots, bowing their heads in greeting:

"My Lord."

"My Lord."

"My Lord—"

"Where is your leader?!"

Adrian Lopez's eyes swept over them, his brow furrowing deeper. Over a hundred soldiers below, and every single one was an ordinary soldier. No knights, no significant combat strength—

The captain, the several Level 9 knights acting as squad leaders, and the knights leading the teams. None of them were present!

"Where is your captain? Where are the knights? Where have they gone?!"

He raised his voice in a sharp query. His brand had been triggered; the knight who carried his dagger must have encountered a powerful enemy. But how strong could the enemy be to wipe out all the higher-ranked warriors?

There was a flurry of whispers below. The soldiers looked at each other, fear in their eyes, but no one spoke up. It was clear this leaderless rabble didn’t even have anyone capable of stepping up as a temporary leader.

Adrian Lopez's face darkened, and with a casual wave of his hand, there was a loud crash as a large tree beside him was cut down by an invisible force, slowly toppling over. Adrian coldly said:

"Speak! Or die!"

As he spoke, he raised his hand, and a white light pointed directly at a soldier who was relatively neatly dressed and sitting on a large rock. The soldier jumped in fright, standing at attention as he stammered out:

"They're all dead, my Lord, all dead! There was an enemy attack last night. Two knights were shot dead, and Lord Vasili led half the knights in pursuit but never returned..."

He shivered uncontrollably, rubbing his arms despite the warm night in the tropical rainforest, shrugging his shoulders:

"Yesterday morning, a group of people arrived. They didn’t say anything, just hanged all the knights..."

"What kind of people? How many? What was their profession? Their level?"

Adrian fired off questions in rapid succession. The soldier answering shrank back again, his face full of terror:

"Two... four, five... no, no, only two acted, an elf and a leopard—no, an elf who could turn into a leopard... But they had a lot of people, five, six..."

Adrian’s brow furrowed even more. They couldn’t even figure out how many people the enemy had; what use were these soldiers?

He clenched his teeth, then raised his voice again:

"How many were there exactly?"

"Five, no, six, no, seven... and a particularly large bird, people came out of its belly... and a deer..."

Was it a vehicle, or a space-type magical beast? Either way, to carry seven or eight people at once, it had to be either exceptionally powerful, or its master was exceptionally powerful...

Adrian patiently asked a few more questions, but couldn't get a clear answer, only learning that a black panther had suddenly leapt into the crowd, killing several leading knights. It then transformed back into an elf, ordering the other knights to leave the village.

Outside the village, the elf spoke with another, gesturing, and then suddenly the ground sprouted grass and leaves that hanged all the knights at the village entrance, strangling them until they died...

"They didn’t kill us... just drove us away and took all the valuables..." The soldier’s voice was still trembling:

"They took all the slaves... left us here, didn’t kill us, didn’t care about us... We... can we even make it out of the jungle..."

Even if they made it out of the jungle, it would likely be a death sentence. Losing such a large amount of gold and silver, someone would have to be held responsible—Even if the great knights and knights leading the team were all wiped out, these soldiers wouldn’t expect to live.

Adrian Lopez did not voice these thoughts. After asking about the location of the village where the incident occurred and the detailed appearance of the attackers, he turned and left, flying swiftly along the soldiers' trail, observing the signs along the way. Before long, he reached the village entrance.

At the entrance of the village, all was silent and desolate, not a living soul in sight, only a few corpses swaying on tall poles. Adrian carefully inspected the corpses, then walked into the village center, observing closely:

Scattered throughout the village lay a dozen or so corpses, some with bloody holes in their throats, others with their throats torn open, blood splattered across walls and the ground. Adrian walked slowly, glancing around, and a picture naturally formed in his mind:

A sleek black panther sneaked into the village. In the twilight, almost no one noticed its shadow until it tore open the first person’s throat.

The knights shouted in alarm, drawing their swords, but the panther was extremely agile, turning and pouncing on the second person…

"Such skill... a high-level magical beast... no, a high-level natural servant." Adrian slowly calculated, squatting down to examine the blood holes on the corpses’ throats. He compared them with his hand, then probed the depth with a dagger:

"Mid-level... no, mid-high-level elven ranger. No wonder they could kill in one strike, and no wonder they had to flee..."

But why would this elven ranger attack alone?

He stood up and walked around the village, inspecting the corpses. Most of the bodies hadn’t been touched; knights or soldiers, they were left as they were.

Only in the corner was there raised earth, three new round graves, with flowers blooming in front and a colorful ribbon tied to each tombstone. Adrian couldn’t help but curse:

"Those bastards!"

Instead of transporting the goods, they deviated from the path, running to this native village. With these three new graves, Adrian could piece together the entire incident:

One of them must have thought escorting was too hard and came here to "have some fun." They angered the nearby elven rangers, provoking a series of events...

"We still need to get the goods back." Adrian sighed, then followed the traces left by the colonel’s pursuit, carefully tracking them. By dawn, he finally found the site of the previous night's battle, meticulously inspecting the area, his expression grim:

"The enemy has experts... someone who can kill a Level 13 knight in one strike, at least Level 16... Hmm, this slash, it split them all in half, the force never waned. The opponent is a very strong warrior..."

"And a spellcaster... at least Level 13, perhaps even stronger, not to be underestimated... natural servants usually know some spells..."

"And that elf who was chased, to retaliate the next day, shows the healer on their side isn’t weak either..."

A Level 16 natural servant, a Level 16 warrior, a Level 13 spellcaster, and possibly a healer above Level 10. With three more, all possibly Level 16, even as an 18th-level Sky Knight, defeating them would be tough...

Adrian sighed deeply. But he had no choice but to fight. Not acting might have been an option if he hadn’t come, but now that he was here, failure to act would bring trouble upon himself.

Although the status of a Sky Knight was prestigious, his cultivation resources were still supplied by the governor’s district. Losing such a large fortune, the district would certainly cut back on his resources.

He still aspired to become a legend... If he didn’t become a legend by a hundred, he’d never have a chance, and his time was running out...

Adrian leaped and ran, quickly leaving the scene. He found a clearing in the forest, sat down on a large rock, and embraced his longsword, closing his eyes.

No matter what, he needed to adjust his state first... Galloping across a thousand miles to reach this rainforest, this state of exhaustion and fatigue was not suited for battle...

Sleep... sleep until morning, pray to the Radiant Lord, and then, with full energy, strength, and divine power, seek out the enemy for battle...

He fell into a deep sleep. Meanwhile, miles away, Garrett, who had already fallen into a deep sleep, suddenly rolled over and opened his eyes.

He groggily got up, staggered out of the room, his head drooping. Outside the wizard's hut, Sis

oyin and Aishe Moon Song, each wrapped in a cloak, were sitting under the moonlight. Seeing him emerge, they exchanged a glance, their faces full of surprise:

"What's wrong?"

"I don’t know..." Garrett yawned, rubbing his eyes:

"I just suddenly couldn’t sleep well and wanted to get up... Hey, I’m going to the bathroom; we can talk later..."

He half-closed his eyes as he walked into the bushes. A moment later, he returned, only to be grabbed by Aishe Moon Song:

"Do you know what’s going on now?"

"No..."

"If you don’t know, meditate! Sit down now! Meditate! Merge your mind with nature!"

"Oh..."

Garrett obediently sat down and, following Sister Moon Song’s command, began to meditate. His mental power quietly spread out, like a drop of water falling into the moonlit lake, creating ripples of silver-white waves. He didn’t know how much time had passed when he suddenly opened his eyes:

"A strong enemy!—Nature tells me, a strong enemy full of anger and malice is approaching!"
