the turtle essence thing is weird but i like it
honestly wasn't expecting this much focus on actual fishing mechanics, i figured the 'God of Fishing' title was just a metaphor for being strong or whatever. the part where those turtles start harvesting the essence of the universe is where things got really trippy for me, like i was just expecting some kid to hook a big bass but suddenly we're doing cosmic energy cultivation with reptiles. it's got that classic zero-to-hero vibe where the main guy is obviously going to crush the assessment even though everyone treats him like garbage, which gets a bit repetitive after the tenth time someone underestimates him. i'm still kind of confused about the timeless void setting because it doesn't really feel like a void if there's a whole ocean with whales and stuff, it just feels like a normal world with a weird sky. the romance is barely there so far and feels pretty tacked on, i wish they'd just stick to the monster fish instead of trying to make me care about his childhood friend or whoever that girl was. but hey, the action is decent enough to keep me scrolling past the filler chapters.
