the mental image of a willow tree dropkicking giant tigers

honestly wasn't expecting to get so hooked on a story about a literal plant, but the way Lin Meng starts growing those glowing spiritual branches made me stay up way too late. it’s weirdly satisfying watching him suck up energy while all these martial arts experts are losing their minds over the world ending, plus that one part where he uses a single leaf to slice through a mountain range felt so cool even if it was a bit over the top. i do think the author gets a bit repetitive with the descriptions of the savage beasts howling every two chapters, it starts to feel like a soundboard after a while and i found myself skimming the parts where the tigers were just growling at nothing. that one scene where he protects the village from the flood really hit home for me, although i’m pretty sure he was a pine tree in the first chapter and then suddenly he’s a willow? maybe i just misread that part because i was tired but the continuity felt a little wobbly in the beginning. still, the progression is super addictive even if the human characters are basically just cardboard cutouts for him to outshine, i just want to see how big this tree can actually get before he runs out of space on the planet.
