The Blaze Clan family drama is way better than the magic
Usually I'm not that big on the whole 'waking up in another world' bit because it has been done to death, but the drama with Alec finding out he is actually a secret heir is what actually kept me scrolling past the first few chapters. I really liked the part where his grandfather is basically forced to raise him because nobody else in that elite circle can be trusted, it gave the old man a lot of personality that you don't usually see in these kinds of power fantasies. Honestly the magic system feels a bit generic at times, like he just gets good at it because he has the right bloodline or whatever, and I wish the author spent more time on how the golem construction actually works instead of just skipping to the fights. There was this one scene where he's in the capital and meets those snobby cousins, and the dialogue there was kind of cringey but in a way that made me want to see him crush them even more. My only real gripe is that the pacing went totally off the rails around the time he leaves the city for that mountain quest, it felt like the author just wanted to show off new monsters without finishing the plot threads back home. Still a decent read if you have a weekend to kill.
