I am actually obsessed with the purple eyes and the veil

Honestly was expecting another generic historical romance but the whole bit where she refuses to take the veil off even during the wedding ceremony really hooked me, it felt so tense when she started adjusting the fabric with her hands shaking like that. I have a soft spot for the 'mysterious bride' trope and the way she stands her ground about her one request even though the Duke—or whoever he was, maybe a Prince?—is clearly trying to intimidate her with that wicked grin of his is just top tier drama. The purple eyes are a cool touch though I kept forgetting if they were a witch thing or just a family trait, because the magic elements feel a bit thin in the early chapters. My only real gripe is that he talks way too much, like we get it you are a bad boy devil type, you don't need to drawl every single sentence like you are in a theater production, it makes the pacing drag when I just want to see her actually use some spells. Still, the chemistry is definitely there and I stayed up way too late finishing the first arc.
