Adam getting kicked to the Dead Lands was actually a relief

honestly thought the whole experiment part was going to drag on for fifty chapters but I'm glad they just failed him and tossed him out like trash. It makes the stakes feel way more real when the main character isn't some golden child from the start, though I’m still a bit hung up on why the scientists in the slums didn't just kill him if the Spark trial was such a massive deal. The scene where he first wakes up in the crater of the Last Star really hit me because it felt so lonely, usually these stories give the hero a talking sword or a guide right away but he was just sort of rotting there for a second. I will say the pacing gets a bit wonky once the supernatural stuff starts ramping up, like one minute he's starving and the next he's basically a godling fighting off those scrap-monsters. It's a bit much for me sometimes, especially since I can't really tell if this is supposed to be hard sci-fi or just straight up magic with a space coat of paint. Still, the way he uses his failed powers to scavenge is pretty clever, but I hope the author slows down a bit before he outgrows the entire setting by chapter thirty.
