Zhang Yuan reassured his team about trusting Richard, the son of the Tsardom Kingdom's next monarch, and explained sharing black crystals to gain allies with shared goals. He ordered a brief rest before splitting up to scout the area around the base. Meanwhile, in the northern border, Wen Hanyu and Shang Xixi cleared zombies from a mini market, amassing supplies like rice, canned foods, daily necessities, medicine, and silenced guns, which they stored in his space. They opted not to bathe, using zombie blood to mask their scent for safer travel.

Upon hearing his girlfriend's words, Wen Hanyu burst into laughter.

"You're laughing?" Shang Xixi glared at him fiercely.

Sensing her rising anger, he suppressed his chuckles and shook his head. "I'm not laughing anymore."

He approached her and grasped her hands gently. "Xixi, regardless of your appearance or how pungent your scent is, I'll always adore you."

To back up his statement, he leaned in for a kiss. Spending over a year overseas had broadened his perspectives. They'd been acquaintances since junior high and started dating officially during their second year of high school.

During those days, they hesitated to reveal their romance, worried about upsetting parents and teachers. It wasn't until after graduation that they announced it to their families.

When Wen Hanyu signed up for the exchange program, Shang Xixi followed suit to join him. They figured they'd return home after two years there.

Little did they expect the apocalypse to strike before completing their studies. Stranded now, returning home seemed impossible.

After a prolonged kiss, Wen Hanyu's hands grew adventurous. As he slipped them into her pants, Shang Xixi abruptly seized his wrist.

He opened his eyes, gazing at her puzzled. "What's wrong?"

Breathing raggedly, both knew what came next, but Shang Xixi inhaled deeply and murmured, "I think my period is here."

Stunned at her words, Wen Hanyu glanced at his watch, noting the date. He rested his head in the curve of her shoulder, voice rough, "Shang Xixi, I suspect that you are messing with me, but I don't have the evidence."

Feeling bad for halting him halfway, Shang Xixi couldn't stifle her laugh upon hearing that. She embraced him and said, "I need to go to the bathroom."

Wen Hanyu paused briefly before releasing her and inquiring, "Do you feel unwell anywhere?"

"Just a little bit bloated. I'm fine."

Once Shang Xixi returned from cleaning up in the bathroom, Wen Hanyu fetched a portable stove, kettle, and water bottle. He heated water and prepared brown sugar ginger water.

Soon after the ginger water finished brewing, his girlfriend emerged from the bathroom. She'd switched into wardrobe-found winter sportswear, layered with thermals underneath for warmth.

Noticing her refreshed appearance, Wen Hanyu arched his brows and questioned, "Xixi, didn't you say that you want to save water? Why change your mind?"

"I tried the faucet and saw that there was still water. It was clean and had no smell, so I just took a simple bath."

"You should tell me if you want to take a bath. I can boil hot water for you. Taking a cold bath during your period will make you feel more pain later."

"I'm not as fragile as you think," Shang Xixi chuckled lightly.

Facing his girlfriend left Wen Hanyu at a loss. He sighed and remarked, "I made some brown sugar ginger water for you. Drink it first."

Shang Xixi took the cup, planting a kiss on him. "Thank you, boyfriend."

Wen Hanyu grinned and announced, "I will go take a bath."

"There is another set of winter sportswear. Just wear that, it's warm."

"Okay."

After completing his bath, Wen Hanyu whipped up a basic dinner for them. Only once their stomachs were full did they retire to bed. The plush mattress ensured better rest than previously.

At 4 a.m. the following morning, a team hurried toward the northern outskirts. As the sun peeked over the eastern skyline, the snow ceased, leaving the squad atop a hypermart's roof.

Surveying the snow-blanketed landscape, Yuan Ruiyue faced Du Beiye and queried, "How is it?"

Checking her map quickly, Du Beiye responded, "There are no zombies and no mutant beasts in this area, but there are people hiding inside the building. Our target might be one of them."

Pondering his words, Yuan Ruiyue inquired, "Do you still have free space in your space?"

Du Beiye nodded affirmatively. "The space should be enough to collect the supplies in this area."

"Okay, we will search the area and collect the supplies at the same time," Yuan Ruiyue instructed.

"Understood," the members nodded in agreement.

Descending into the hypermart via the rooftop, the team found the rusty metal door yielding easily with a twist, snapping the lock.

Aware of hidden people inside, the members drew their airguns. While descending, Du Beiye monitored the mini map closely.

Differing from Qin Luzi's flat 2D map, hers enveloped the whole structure in 3D projection. Her system sensed via temperature, alerting her to nearby entities or individuals.

Arriving at the top floor, a thorough search yielded nothing—just office furniture.

Descending further, they finally spotted the supplies.

Initially assuming residents would have depleted them, the sight of untouched, sealed canned food boxes puzzled them greatly.

"Something is not right. There are so many supplies here, and none were taken. Do the people staying in this place not need to eat?" Jian Huan frowned as he spoke.

In response, Mo Junjie commented, "Maybe it's not that they didn't want to eat it, but they couldn't eat it."

"What do you mean by that?" Jian Ziqin pressed.

"Neither of you has heard about the mutation of the ability-users?" Mo Junjie countered, brows arched.
