Zombie Apocalypse: Reborn With A Farming Space Chapter 822: The First Level Eight Mutant ( 2 )

Previously on Zombie Apocalypse: Reborn With A Farming Space...
Ma Boyu recounts a pre-apocalypse incident where Captain Jin used his awakened black flame ability to contain a terrorist bomb explosion, saving an entire town without injuring hostages. The team arrives at the base for rest, and Chen Qianxiao briefs Xun Che on the discovery of a vast, emptied black crystal mine under Lunar City after the zombie cockroach attack. They discuss the crystals' superior energy, accusations from Erast Tolstoy's men claiming theft, Lustin's support, and fears that the missing crystals could empower enemies if obtained by the Organization.

"The agriculture department has been testing a novel farming technique and succeeded in producing a batch of soybeans. We processed some into soymilk. Even if the quantity is small, it makes a fine addition for the children," Xun Che responded.

As he continued eating, Wen Hanli set a folder down on the table and remarked, "Captain Chen, here’s the full details on the S-rank mission. We’re hoping your squad will participate in it."

Chen Qianxiao was already aware of the mission’s existence but not its specifics. He flipped open the folder and examined its contents thoroughly.

Moments later, he shut the folder and declared, "This assignment doesn’t deserve an S-rank label. It’s obviously SS-rank at minimum. Beyond the fact that they’re dealing with aliens, their massive troop numbers alone could devastate multiple small bases."

"I’m aware," Xun Che acknowledged with a nod.

"You’re aware, but you still assigned it as S-rank? Have you lost your senses?" Chen Qianxiao demanded, his voice laced with fury.

Before Wen Hanli had a chance to respond, he pressed on, "Do you realize the consequences of failing this? It would mean sacrificing numerous high-level mutants, crippling our base’s power. And if the foes strike us head-on? What fate awaits the people living here?"

"Precisely because of those dangers, Old Jin and his squad will spearhead this operation," Xun Che explained.

Arching his brows, Chen Qianxiao commented, "You place a lot of faith in him, don’t you?"

Xun Che grinned and answered, "As a level-eight mutant, with his fiancée at level six, and the others ranging from level four to five, their power level is impressive. Why wouldn’t I rely on them?"

Upon hearing that, Chen Qianxiao choked on his meal, coughing repeatedly. Once he recovered, he stared at his companion in shock and queried, "He’s reached level eight already?"

Xun Che confirmed with a nod, while Wen Hanli fetched a pile of folders. He laid them on the table and stated, "These contain the test outcomes for the Phantom Team’s members."

As Chen Qianxiao scanned the reports, he froze upon seeing that his brother had advanced to level four and could generate 30,000 liters of water before depleting his reserves.

In contrast to his own powers, his brother’s was supportive, which typically slowed progress to higher tiers. He hadn’t anticipated his sibling advancing so swiftly, nor possessing an energy reserve several times larger than peers at the same rank.

Having gone through all the documents, he whispered, "I can’t fathom how Jin Xuyan prepares his team, but why do they all boast expanded energy capacities over standard mutants?"

"I shared your skepticism initially. Yet once I grasped their regimen, everything clicked," Xun Che exhaled, passing over yet another folder.

Chen Qianxiao found himself at a loss for words as he absorbed the grueling drills the Phantom Team endured. To elevate his squad’s abilities, he supplied extra crystal cores for absorption and allowed independent practice.

The Phantom Team, however, faced daily morning routines to hone physical fitness and fighting prowess, plus a tailored program designed just for them.

Take Yin Yusheng, for instance—post-morning session, his duty involved planting veggies. He needed to yield no less than 100 kilograms of produce each day.

He’d been puzzled at the outset, but realizing his power accelerated growth brought clarity. Jin Xuyan was honing Yin Yusheng’s skill, compelling him to expend his energy repeatedly.

Promoting crop growth essentially channeled energy to hasten development. To gather 100 kilograms worth, he likely exhausted his reserves multiple times over.

Though approaches varied, the essence remained consistent: exhaust energy, replenish it, and cycle again.

Once finished reviewing, he inquired, "Old Xun, did you experiment with their techniques?"

This time, Wen Hanli answered, "We haven’t tried it ourselves, but the water-providing mutants have confirmed its effectiveness."

"A few even advanced levels just days ago via this approach. Now, the majority of mutants are aware of this leveling strategy."

Chen Qianxiao agreed with a nod and added, "I owe him thanks for disseminating this technique."

"Old Jin’s fiancée is the one who shared it," Xun Che clarified.

Thinking back to Jiao Lizhi’s youthful beauty and her battle prowess, Chen Qianxiao huffed, "That old guy sure hit the jackpot."

At his remark, Xun Che and Wen Hanli both chuckled softly and bobbed their heads in unison.

Meanwhile, as the trio teased Jin Xuyan, he and his crew reached Sanchou City’s outskirts. While the team peered through the windows, Qin Luzi consulted the mental map.

Shortly after, he announced, "Captain, within an 80-kilometer radius, there are multiple camps and a single base."

"What about the numbers?" Jin Xuyan probed.

"The camps range from about 500 to 2,000 residents each. The base holds over 8,000."

With that in mind, Jin Xuyan nodded and instructed, "Old Zhang, pick a spot to touch down. We’ll handle the snow and zombies around here first."

"Got it."

The chopper descended onto a hypermart’s roof. Thick snow had engulfed the structure, piling up to the third-floor windows.

Once everyone disembarked, Feng Yun tucked the chopper into his spatial storage. From the rooftop’s brink, Jin Xuyan surveyed the endless white vista and directed, "Divide into groups and reconvene here by 5 p.m."

"Understood," the team chorused, organizing into trios.

No sooner had the groups formed than Jin Xuyan lifted his hand, unleashing a surge of black flames from his palm.

BOOM!
