Zombie Apocalypse: Reborn With A Farming Space Chapter 4 4: Spatial Space

Previously on Zombie Apocalypse: Reborn With A Farming Space...
Jiao Lizhi awakens in her pre-apocalypse dorm room, realizing she has been reborn on May 5th, 2188, the day the zombie outbreak begins. Determined to survive and seek revenge, she packs essential supplies, changes into practical clothing, cuts her long hair short for mobility, and barricades her door after discovering her fever. After resting and taking medicine, her temperature subsides, and she awakens her water-based ability earlier and more potently than in her previous life, producing water effortlessly into a bottle before her vision suddenly blurs.

In an instant, an illusion of a two-story building accompanied by a patch of dark earth materialized before Jiao Lizhi, merging seamlessly with her surrounding chamber.

Believing it to be an illusion, she rubbed her eyes and blinked repeatedly. But upon reopening them, the vision sharpened further, as though the landscape was imprinted deeply in her consciousness.

She shut her eyes and focused her thoughts to sense the origin of this faint energy stream. The following moment, she stood on the meadow next to the dark earth patch.

Driven by curiosity, Jiao Lizhi crouched and extended her hand toward the soil underfoot. As the warm grains slid between her fingers, she stiffened in shock.

The feel was incredibly lifelike, just like grasping real dirt. With her knowledge of spatial powers from past experiences, she immediately understood this was her personal space.

Though she hadn’t witnessed a space ability in action before, she recalled it acting as a portable storage unit from her prior existence.

Inside the space, time passed more slowly than in the external world, and it couldn’t support life forms because of no air—any stored beings would perish from asphyxiation.

A person’s space size depended on their aptitude and grew with ability upgrades. Yet, her current space didn’t match the typical awakened spatial power descriptions.

She couldn’t rationalize it, but deep down, she sensed her space differed from standard ones. Discovery of this uniqueness would spell major danger for her. Thus, she had to keep it hidden from everyone.

Looking around, she spotted a pool close to the building. Approaching it, she observed the pool spanned roughly five meters across and plunged deep.

The transparent liquid allowed a full view to the base, where a tiny opening sat in the middle. She gazed at the opening, suspecting it as the water’s origin.

Thirst prompting her, she formed a cup with her palms, drew some water, and drank. The flavor resembled her ability-generated water, yet it tasted cleaner and more invigorating.

Whether from mindset or reality, post-consumption, her vitality surged, and the persistent vertigo lessened notably.

With one more drink, she exhaled in comfort and shifted focus to the structure. Yet, prior to accessing the front entrance, a mental shock hit her alongside a thunderous pounding that rang out.

Her reflexes outpaced her mind, returning her instantly to the dormitory quarters.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Roarr!!!

The intense racket from outside appeared to lure zombies from her area. Jiao Lizhi furrowed her brow while scanning her past-life recollections.

Shortly, she remembered upper-year students arriving to save the confined female students in the dorm. The recent clamor likely stemmed from their efforts.

Eying a broom in the corner, she seized it and broke the handle across her knee. Discarding the bristles, she hefted the wood piece and whispered, “It wasn’t the best weapon, but it would suffice for now.”

Prior to departing, Jiao Lizhi neared the bed and contacted it. Uncertain on storing objects in her space, she experimented with her power. As she willed the bed into her space, it vanished right away.

Thrilled at the achievement, she eyed her bag and mentally commanded, ‘Collect!’

She wished to store the bag remotely without contact. Regrettably, it stayed put. Advancing a step, she attempted again— no change.

One more step forward, and another try. Success this time, as the bag disappeared. She figured her power’s reach extended around two meters.

Inspecting her space, she found the bed and bag placed on the turf by the arable land. Mentally, she directed them into the building. Joyfully, they relocated from the grass to the vacant interior.

This revelation energized Jiao Lizhi, prompting her to swiftly collect all remaining items in the room.

After ten minutes, only bare walls remained. She bound cloth over her hands, clutched the wood firmly, and prepared for combat.

Before turning the handle, she leaned an ear to the door, straining to hear outside sounds. The previous disturbance had pulled zombies elsewhere, leaving the passage deathly still.

Checking her timepiece, Jiao Lizhi saw it was six in the morning. Dawn had broken. During daylight, zombies moved sluggishly and posed less threat, perfect for escape.

Drawing a steadying breath, she eased the door open to reduce sound. Stepping into the hall, she faced a path smeared with gore, remains, and unidentified substances. Multiple zombies, their skulls crushed irreparably, sprawled lifelessly.

Fighting back revulsion from the foul odor, she proceeded cautiously to the emergency exit. Armed with her space power, her initial goal stood firm—the campus dining hall.
