Lu Jinhai: "Father, I've engaged a premier event management company. With only three days remaining until the event, invitations have already been dispatched. Assistant Xiao Dong will oversee the remaining arrangements, as I've already given him his instructions."
Lu Huan: "So you made all the decisions beforehand? What was the point of asking my opinion then? You drained my energy for nothing, you punk!!"
Lu Jinhai: Hmmm... that... umm ’__’. Lu Jinhai understood his father perfectly. He cherished his father's childish and bickering nature, as it contributed to their family's playful dynamic. That's precisely why he had acted that way intentionally.
To steer the conversation elsewhere, Lu Shuang inquired, "Where is Lu Qiang? I miss my dear grandson. When will he be returning?" As Lu Qiang's name was mentioned, the atmosphere normalized, and everyone began asking about him.
Lu Jiahui: "Mother, he is presently in America, attending to some critical company matters. He is scheduled to depart from New York tomorrow evening and will arrive here the following morning."
Lu Shuang: "Oh! That child. Ever since he took on the responsibilities of the Lu Corporation and the entire family, he has never once disappointed us. All these years, he has toiled tirelessly, striving to elevate the business further."
Lu Qiang was Lu Jinhai's eldest son. Five years prior, when Lu Jinhai was involved in a severe accident, Lu Qiang was merely 18 years old. He assumed the full weight of the company and family responsibilities, dedicating himself to achieving ever-greater success. He had sacrificed his dream of becoming a soccer player for this. He recognized the immense effort his father had invested and always ensured everyone lived lives of comfort and without worry.
Lu Huan: "That is precisely what concerns me." He glanced at Lu Jinhai and declared, "You heartless man! How could you make your son work like a beast of burden? I fear it will negatively impact his health and vitality. What will become of my dream of having great-grandchildren?" You irresponsible brat!"
"Father, I am responsible, which is why I have already provided you with two grandsons and one granddaughter." He responded with a slight, mischievous smile.
"What's so commendable about that? Everyone does it. You focus on managing your Lu Corporation and allow my grandson some rest." He frowned and muttered under his breath, "Useless Chairman of the Lu Corporation!!!" but his words were audible to all.
Lu Jinhai helmed the Lu Corporation, a preeminent and influential enterprise within the nation. Its current standing was the culmination of 30 years of Lu Jinhai's diligent work. He had built it from the ground up.
The Lu family originally hailed from a modest town situated far from the capital. Lu Jinhai's ancestors had been leaders of that town and the surrounding villages for generations. Each generation contributed to the progress and welfare of the families in their region, hence the widespread respect for the Lu clan.
Lu Jinhai's ambition to achieve something extraordinary propelled his entire family to the city. Initially, he launched his enterprise by focusing on traditional Chinese arts and crafts, specialties of his hometown region. Lu Jinhai recognized their significance and established a small company. The early stages were not overwhelmingly difficult, as his family was well-off, and his grandfather held a position of authority in the town. However, the true challenge arose when he relocated to the capital. He encountered numerous obstacles, including unscrupulous individuals and rival businesses. Despite his rural origins, he possessed keen intelligence, enabling him to discern friends from foes. He adeptly managed such people, revealing a shrewd aspect to his personality. If his IQ had been assessed at that time, it would undoubtedly have been in the triple digits.
Soon after, success followed within a few years, and he began diversifying his business into various sectors. He married his childhood friend and relative, Ning Jiahui. She stood by him through all adversities, supporting him in realizing his aspirations. She was a loving and considerate woman, cherished by her in-laws.
Four years into their marriage, she gave birth to their first child, Lu Qiang, followed by their daughter, Lu Lian, and their youngest son, Lu Lijun. Following their wedding, Lu Jinhai became deeply engrossed in his business pursuits. He understood he would be unable to dedicate adequate time to his family and did not wish to compromise his focus during a period of burgeoning success. Consequently, Lu Jinhai and Lu Jiahui resolved to postpone having more children for a few years. This decision contributed to Lu Qiang's later arrival.
Upon hearing the mention of great-grandchildren, something sparked in Lu Hui's mind. She was the wife of Lu Huan's second son, Lu Chen. "Precisely, Father! As an aunt, I share your concern for Lu Qiang. He absolutely needs to rest and prioritize his health. His two cousins are available to share the burden of responsibilities within the company, and Father, you needn't worry about great-grandchildren. Aside from Lu Qiang, you have two more grandsons who can fulfill that wish." She stated with a broad smile.
Lu Huan gazed at her, his expression laced with annoyance, and demanded, "Two more grandsons??? Are you referring to your two sons? One who rushed into marriage five years ago fueled by raw adrenaline, yet still shies away from having children? And the other, perpetually lost in his own world, indulging in alcohol and drugs, associating with his good-for-nothing friends, and squandering the family's hard-earned wealth?" His face flushed crimson, a clear display of his profound dissatisfaction with Lu Hui’s sons.
Upon hearing this, Lu Hui’s face crumpled, and a heavy silence descended upon the living room. No one dared to utter a single syllable.
Lu Huan’s younger son, Lu Chen, was a man of refined manners, an obedient son and brother. However, his wife possessed a rather playful nature. They were blessed with two sons, Lu Han and Lu Feng, and their youngest child was a daughter named Lu Bao. Originally residing in their ancestral town, Lu Chen had been supporting his elder brother by managing the family business from there. Yet, a few years prior, they relocated to the city at the behest of the elder Lu Huan, who desired his entire family to reside together and found himself yearning for his younger son and grandchildren.
