"Of course, I understand the importance of regulations. However..."
A subtle hint laced her tone:
"Lady Cassandra once mentioned that the Observation Station provides some... convenience policies for participants of the New Star Plan?"
"I don’t care what deals are happening behind the scenes."
Uther cut her off abruptly, as distortions rippled through the surrounding shadows, releasing an oppressive aura:
"Under my jurisdiction, everyone must follow the same rules. The name of the Blood Moon Clan holds no special meaning here."
The elderly professor's voice grew even sterner:
"Moreover, I must warn you, the Abyssal Observation Station is not a place for your theatrics. If you’re here for some shameful task, I suggest you leave now."
This overt antagonism ignited fury in Uphemia's heart.
Being a prodigy of the Blood Moon Clan, she seldom encountered such direct rebuff and disgrace.
Still, she swiftly reined in her feelings.
As the meticulously "crafted" being of the King of Blood, she boasted exceptional mental discipline.
"I have no malicious intentions, Professor."
She kept her voice soft and composed:
"I’m just a young wizard seeking breakthroughs, hoping to gain stronger power in the Abyss. That motive shouldn’t be problematic, right?"
"Then proceed according to normal procedures."
Uther showed no sign of relenting:
"But I must remind you, exploring the Abyss involves great risk. Given your level of strength, you might never return."
His remark held a veiled warning:
"I hope you can act within your limits and not make decisions you will regret. Though the Blood Moon Clan’s influence is vast, before the Abyss, everyone is equal—equally fragile."
Though it sounded like friendly advice, the mockery was glaringly obvious.
Uphemia caught the hidden barb, yet she responded with elegant poise, nodding:
"Thank you for the reminder, I will be careful."
While departing the reception hall, her eyes briefly glanced at Chloe.
The innocent vibe from the sightless girl evoked a long-forgotten sensation...
A memory shard from her days as an ordinary human, prior to the King of Blood's "creation."
In those times, she too harbored such untainted feelings, but now...
With Uphemia's exit, quietness settled over the reception hall once more.
Chloe's face grew solemn:
"Professor, that woman is surrounded by extremely dangerous threads of fate."
Unease filled her tone:
"In my perception, she is like a walking curse, bringing chaos and death wherever she goes. And..."
Chloe hesitated briefly, her whisper growing fainter:
"She has causal entanglements related to Ron Ralph.
Those threads are ominously dark red, foretelling a bloody disaster."
"I know." Revulsion deepened in Uther’s voice:
"People from the Blood Moon Clan are never anything good, especially this Uphemia and that..."
The old professor trailed off, his shadow fading, exposing profound weariness amid the silver glow.
Chloe softly caressed the Celestial Ball Crystal she cradled, detecting ominous alerts inside:
"I can feel her true purpose in coming here. In the threads of fate, her intersection with Ron has been deliberately arranged by some powerful will. This is not a chance encounter, but a meticulously planned trap."
"Then we must be even more cautious." Gravity etched Uther’s features:
"Though Ron is cautious, he is still young. Faced with such specifically designed ’weapon,’ even an experienced elder wizard might lose judgment."
While they conferred, the magic communication device in the reception hall abruptly chimed.
Uther connected it, and an urgent voice burst forth:
"Professor! There’s an emergency! A large-scale energy fluctuation has occurred at the junction between the fifth layer and the fourth layer, the intensity reaching Apostle Level! Moreover... the center of the fluctuation is moving towards Ron’s planned route!"
This report drained the color from Uther’s face instantly.
He swiftly engaged the observation gear, displaying a live feed of the Abyss Fourth Layer right in the hall's midst.
The projection revealed an immense, beyond-words silhouette gliding through the Sea of Darkness.
It was "Eye of the Abyss" Nari, whose colossal, mountain-sized tentacles whipped up city-shattering energy tempests with every sway.
Yet what disturbed most was the odd thrill this primordial beast exuded.
Its enormous eyes swiveled nonstop, hunting for something of utmost value.
"Oh no..." Worry thickened Uther’s tone:
"Nari rarely leaves its lair, unless it encounters something particularly interesting. And the direction it’s moving..."
He swiftly accessed the position data for Ron’s squad:
"It matches Ron’s exploration path exactly!"
Chloe’s complexion drained of color too, as the Celestial Ball Crystal gripped in her palm blazed with a foreboding crimson glow:
"The prophecy is manifesting... blood and chaos are converging on the horizon."
Despair laced her voice:
"I witnessed... infernos, demise, and an outcome far worse than death itself."
This prophecy prompted Uther to urgently summon the power of the Void Remains.
Frenzied silver radiance swirled around him, gearing up for a distant crisis intervention.
Yet in that instant, an icy voice rang out from the reception hall’s entrance:
"Seems I’ve shown up at the perfect moment."
Uphemia materialized once more at the doorway, her demeanor now utterly transformed.
The facade of warmth had vanished, supplanted by chilling cunning.
"You haven’t departed?" Uther’s shadow snapped toward her, the silver light honing sharp as a knife’s edge.
"Naturally not." Uphemia strode elegantly into the reception hall:
"I was awaiting approval for my exploration permit. However, it appears now..."
Her eyes settled on Nari’s projected form, a sly smile tugging at her lips:
"Someone appears to be in dire straits.
As a fellow party invested in Ron Ralph’s well-being, I’m confident I can provide some... aid."
"What are you implying?" Hostility dripped from Uther’s tone.
"Quite straightforward." Uphemia drew a crimson crystal orb from her storage bag:
"I possess a method to pull Ron out safely without tipping off Nari. Naturally, this demands certain... conditions in return."
A glint of avarice sparked in her gaze:
"Such as permitting me entry into his exploration team for intimate cooperation in future endeavors. This arrangement serves us both well."
Uther grasped the malicious scheme lurking in her offer without delay.
Evidently, this woman aimed to exploit the rescue to draw near Ron and impose influence upon him.
The crisis was truly dire, with Nari closing in on Ron’s position, and Uther’s Void Remains form not yet fully restored...
"I won’t accept your conditions." Uther shook his head at last:
"Yet if you truly wish to aid in saving Ron, I could slash your exploration fee."
"Insufficient." Uphemia let out a soft laugh: "My assistance is unparalleled, though..."
Her sight shifted to Chloe:
"With the astrologer present, why not have her divine once more? To check Ron’s survival odds sans my involvement?"
Uther found himself trapped in a bind by this suggestion.
Noticing the charged confrontation between them, Chloe murmured gently:
"Allow me one more divination; maybe alternative paths emerge."
She produced the Star Disc and launched a hasty divination.
