Wizard: Unlimited Profession Slots Chapter 1150 - 474: Offspring of the Betrayer

"Wait... do any of you feel that the ground tremors are a bit off?"
As a holder of the lava bloodline, Edwin is exceptionally sensitive to geological changes.
While exploring earlier, he faintly sensed the subtle rhythm emanating from beneath his feet.
At first, he thought it was the ubiquitous resonant vibrations within the dragon bone network, but now it seems, this tremor is clearly not a natural phenomenon.
Laku also furrowed his brow, crouching to press his palm against the sandy ground:
"This tremor... feels like something is moving underground on a large scale. Moreover, the frequency is very consistent, unlike geological activity."
Patty circled in the air, observing the surrounding environment from a high vantage point:
"Looking from above, the distribution of sand color in this area is quite strange. Some places are noticeably softer compared to other regions, almost like..."
"Almost like they’ve been reburied."
Ron continued her thought, beginning to feel an ominous premonition:
"We might be standing in the middle of a massive trap."
As soon as he spoke, the ground began to change dramatically.
The sandy ground, which seemed solid, suddenly collapsed like a sponge.
Numerous circular sand pits, about two meters in diameter, extended outward from them, densely covering an area of several hundred meters like a honeycomb.
"Damn it! These guys have hollowed out the entire ground!"
Edwin angrily spewed a column of lava.
But the high-temperature magma, once injected into the sand pits, was swiftly diverted and cooled by pre-installed heat-dissipation mechanisms.
Clearly, the trap designers had thoroughly studied their abilities.
From those collapsed sand pits, a large number of agile indigenous warriors began to emerge.
Their skin was dark yellow like sand, and their bodies were covered with a scale-like keratin protection layer.
Most striking were their eyes — adapted to the underground environment, they emitted a faint fluorescence in the darkness.
"It’s the Sandwalker Tribe again..."
Laku recognized these indigenous specialists from the underground:
"But this time, they’ve transformed this place into their battlefield, completely nullifying our mobility advantage."
The Sandwalkers’ tactics were indeed extremely clever.
They weren’t in a hurry to launch a frontal attack but used the terrain to conduct guerrilla warfare.
Sometimes they would leap out from the sand pits beneath them like springs, launching swift assaults;
Other times, they’d emerge from the sidewall holes to throw weapons, causing continuous harassment.
More frightening was the apparent complex underground passage connecting these sand pits.
When Sand Sea School members tried to target their attacks, the targets would quickly vanish underground and reappear from a completely different direction.
Though Edwin’s lava attack was powerful, its hit rate was exceedingly low in this environment.
Patty’s wind blade cut was precise, but the enemies would always swiftly dive underground to evade it.
Just as the Sandwalkers’ harassment reached its peak, a new threat descended from the sky.
"Whoosh—"
Dozens of wind blades visible to the naked eye fell from the sky, but these attacks aimed not at Sand Sea School members but at the air around them.
The sharp whistling sound produced by wind blades cutting through air was like the neigh of a thousand troops, instantly enveloping the entire battlefield in deafening noise.
"Wind Speaker Tribe!"
Patty gritted her teeth, as a Wind Element specialist, she immediately identified the brilliance of this tactic:
"They’re not trying to cause damage but to disrupt our tactical coordination!"
It was indeed so.
Under such intense noise interference, communication between Sand Sea School members became extremely difficult.
Commands were drastically less effective due to obstructed vision.
More deadly was that this sound wave interference even affected their accurate perception of spatial positioning.
The originally clear sense of distance and direction became blurred under the noise impact.
"Damn cunning!"
Edwin attempted to communicate with his teammates through Spiritual Power, but found even spiritual waves were mysteriously hindered:
"They have other means!"
Just then, heavy footsteps began to echo from the ground.
The sound was thunderously heavy, even distinct within the Wind Speaker Tribe’s created noise.
The Stone Heart Tribe’s Heavy Armored Warriors made their entrance.
These towering indigenous warriors, over two meters tall, were covered entirely in armor as hard as rock.
Their skin was dark gray, and their surface had natural stone-like textures.
Each emitted an aura as steady as a mountain.
Unlike the Sandwalker guerrilla tactics, Stone Heart Warriors employed the most direct frontal charge.
They formed a wedge-shaped formation, advancing towards the Sand Sea School’s positions like bulldozers.
Edwin’s lava attack landed on them, only leaving shallow scorch marks on their stone-like skin, incapable of halting their advance.
"This defense... it’s hardly like flesh and blood!"
Edwin was shocked to discover that his renowned high-temperature attack had minimal effect against these naturally rock-like beings.
But what troubled Ron the most wasn’t these obvious threats.
Under "Spiritual Vision" observation, he saw an even more dangerous scene.
All the indigenous warriors involved in the siege had thin thread-like beams of light connected above their heads.
These beams of light converged at a central point — where several mysterious figures with constantly changing appearances stood.
"Multi-faced Race..."
Ron stated gravely, finally understanding the true terror of this siege:
"They’re using a collective Consciousness Network to coordinate all the tribes’ actions."
