Wizard: Stronger through Marriage Chapter 926 - 418: Fire Dance Makes a Move (2)
Previously on Wizard: Stronger through Marriage...
Salos, bolstered by his formidable strength and the forbidden power he wielded, was barely managing to persist.
As moments ticked by, Salos's might began to gradually diminish.
Ultimately, he was reduced to a mere human Wizard; even with the forbidden power, sustaining the Dark Demon God form proved to be a fleeting endeavor.
Meanwhile, Shuili and Fire Dance engaged in an increasingly ferocious battle, their combined strength continuously regenerating and escalating.
Finally, following a tumultuous exchange, Salos was repelled by the coordinated assault of Shuili and Fire Dance, impacting the ocean's surface with a heavy thud.
His Dark Demon God form started to unravel, his body rapidly shrinking, reverting to his original human shape.
The Six-Ring Dark Demon emitted a piercing shriek before dissolving into the air.
Salos lay sprawled upon the sea, struggling for breath, his form marred by numerous wounds; his combat capabilities were evidently depleted.
His gaze fell upon Shuili and Fire Dance, his eyes brimming with an unyielding refusal and profound despair.
"Why... how could things have possibly reached this point..." Salos uttered to himself, a broken man.
He found it utterly unacceptable that he had been vanquished by two Witches.
Shuili and Fire Dance approached Salos. Upon witnessing his pitiable condition, they felt not a single shred of sympathy.
They were fully aware of how Salos's unchecked ambition and inherent cruelty had inflicted immense suffering and devastation upon the Endless Sea and the Chaos Realm.
"Salos, your ambitions cease here and now," Shuili declared with icy finality. "Beginning today, the Endless Sea and the Chaos Realm shall embrace an era of peace. The age of war and conflict is over."
Upon hearing these words, a fleeting spark of anger and defiance ignited within Salos's eyes.
Yet, he also grasped the stark reality of his complete defeat, with no conceivable path to turning the tide.
Salos remained prone on the frigid sea, the gentle lapping of the waves against his body resembling the ocean's final, mocking gesture.
His stare was vacant and lost as he gazed towards the distant heavens, his heart submerged in an endless abyss of despair and regret.
"It's impossible... how could the Chaos Realm possibly command such overwhelming might..." Salos whispered, his voice barely audible above the sea breeze.
He reminisced about his former prominence, a Sixth Ring Great Wizard of the Endless Sea, a figure once deemed invincible.
Numerous factions had once submitted to his authority, fueling his already inflated ambition and desires.
He had harbored the conviction that his mastery of Dark Magic and the forbidden power at his disposal would enable him to effortlessly subjugate the Chaos Realm, bringing that vast oceanic expanse under the dominion of the Endless Sea.
However, the harsh reality had delivered a brutal and humbling blow.
First, he was defeated by Shuili, that seemingly delicate yet unbelievably potent Witch.
Then, the arrival of Fire Dance plunged him into utter desolation.
The combined might of the two sisters had cornered him, a Sixth Ring Great Wizard, into an inescapable predicament.
"Why... why would the Chaos Realm be home to such formidable Witches..." Salos's mind swirled with doubt and lingering resentment.
He had genuinely believed that the magical prowess of the Endless Sea was sufficiently potent to overcome any adversary.
Yet, these two Witches from the Chaos Realm had unveiled the true meaning of power to him.
He recalled the moment he unleashed the forbidden power, and a profound sense of regret washed over him.
If only he had not been so driven by a desire for swift victory, if only he hadn't craved triumph so desperately, perhaps he wouldn't find himself in this dire state.
The forbidden power was indeed immense, but it had also exacted an unpredictable and steep price.
Despite paying a considerable cost, he still failed to overcome his opponents.
"I lost... I am utterly defeated..." Salos confessed in a low tone, his voice steeped in despair.
He understood with chilling certainty that any prospect of a comeback had evaporated.
He knew the Witches of the Chaos Realm would offer no quarter, and the powers within the Endless Sea would surely abandon their faith in him following this crushing defeat.
His future stretched before him, a bleak and pathless void, devoid of any glimmer of hope.
At that precise moment, Shuili and Fire Dance approached his position.
They observed Salos's wretched state, feeling no inclination toward pity.
They were acutely aware that Salos's ruthless ambition had inflicted immeasurable harm and suffering upon both the Endless Sea and the Chaos Realm.
"Salos, your ambition ends here," Shuili stated with cold finality.
Hearing this, a fleeting expression of anger and resentment crossed Salos's face.
He had never fathomed that the Chaos Realm could boast three Six-Ring Grand Mages!
He had invested immense effort to attain the status of a Sixth Ring Great Wizard; why had these two Witches before him ascended to the Sixth Ring so effortlessly?
He abruptly lifted his head, fixing his gaze upon Shuili and Fire Dance, and bellowed with a hoarse voice, "You believe this concludes everything? The power of the Endless Sea far surpasses this display!"
However, as his defiant words faded, a mocking laughter echoed forth.
It was a voice emanating from the deepest reaches of the Chaos Realm, seemingly traversing the very fabric of time and space to penetrate Salos's ears directly.
"Salos, oh Salos, you are far too naive," David declared, stepping forward. "Do you truly believe the Endless Sea would risk antagonizing me for your sake?"
Upon hearing this, Salos’s heart skipped a beat. "What exactly do you intend to do?"
"Even if I were to fail, you could not kill me. Do not forget that the Wizard World still confronts the looming threat from Hell!"
David slowly approached Salos, his gaze conveying an undeniable majesty and an icy resolve.
"Salos, you once harbored the belief that with your Forbidden Power and your own might, you could dominate all things."
"However, when confronted by a power far superior to your own, all your past endeavors appear utterly preposterous."
"Naturally, I will not take your life. Provided you pledge your allegiance, you can still lend your strength to the crucial fight against Hell."
Salos attempted to rise, but the agony coursing through his body rendered him immobile. All he could manage was to fix David with a furious glare and bellow with defiance, "David, you shall never make me submit! I, Salos, would sooner embrace death than bow my head in subservience!"
David let out a cold chuckle and inwardly shook his head. "Death? That would be a far too merciful end for you. The transgressions you have committed necessitate a lifetime of recompense."
He drew nearer, his voice dropping to a lower pitch as he continued, "Salos, your Dark Magic and your Forbidden Power, in the correct grasp, could be transformed into a potent weapon against the Hellish Forces. I require your capabilities to safeguard this realm—but only if you yield to my command and relinquish that pathetic aspiration you cling to."
Salos’s eyes widened, staring at David with utter astonishment.
"You... you actually have the audacity..."
David interrupted him, his tone leaving no room for argument. "This is not a matter of daring, but of absolute necessity. The Demons of Hell are already mobilizing, and their strength surpasses your wildest imaginings. Only by uniting the collective power of all Wizards can we possibly hope to repel their onslaught. And you, Salos—your power is an indispensable component of this grand alliance."
Salos fell silent, his gaze flickering between resentment and despair.
He recognized the truth in David’s words. The existential threat posed by Hell was indeed something he had never truly contemplated.
Should Hell initiate its invasion, both the Endless Sea and the Chaos Realm would undoubtedly face utter annihilation.
David’s eyes gleamed with unwavering determination. He slowly elevated his right hand, palm open, and a complex, ancient Rune began to materialize upon it—this was none other than the primal and formidable Contract Mark.
As the Rune reached its completion, the surrounding space seemed to resonate with a tremor; an intangible yet potent power began to saturate the very air.
"Salos, this represents your final opportunity."
David’s voice, low and commanding, struck Salos’s heart like a powerful blow with each syllable. "Either surrender your will, or cease to exist entirely. The decision you make will irrevocably seal your destiny."
Salos’s visage turned ashen, as if bleached of all color. Beads of perspiration traced paths down his forehead, dripping onto the frigid expanse of the sea’s surface.
He inhaled deeply, his gaze shifting between David, Shuili, and Fire Dance, before finally settling upon the luminous Contract Mark.
Were he to accept this Contract, his freedom would be forfeit, transforming him into David’s subordinate, compelled to execute every command without question. Such a fate was utterly unacceptable!
