"Uncle Olay, I'll slip in for a quick look."
"If there's no path to saving the witch, I definitely won't gamble with my life."
David gave repeated assurances and showcased a fraction of his capability, which ultimately swayed the Gray Wolf Knight to agree, though numerous warnings about vigilance were still issued.
"Uncle Olay, once I depart, you should make a conspicuous appearance at Frost Wolf Ridge. Nobody would suspect an additional Official Knight lurking in Frost Wolf Ridge."
Following a brief exchange of detailed plans, the Gray Wolf Knight transferred the intelligence gathered in Mountain Cat Town to David, advising him to reach out to other informants within the castle if the situation demanded it.
Despite the Frost Wolf Clan's decline, they had maintained numerous covert operations. The Frost Wolf Clan, once the sovereign power of the Northern Lands, had established informants in various locales.
David meticulously recorded this information, then proceeded to the castle to enlist Liya's assistance in covering his absence before quietly departing Frost Wolf Ridge for Mountain Cat Town.
Mountain Cat Town was situated not far from Frost Wolf Ridge. David mounted a dark steed and reached their destination by nightfall, establishing a hidden encampment within the adjacent woods.
Historically, the Mountain Cat Clan had been one of the subordinate clans under the Frost Wolf Clan's dominion.
However, with the emergence of the Ice Bear Clan and the waning influence of the Frost Wolf Clan, they elected to betray their former allegiance and swore fealty to the Ice Bear Clan.
Consequently, his objective this time extended beyond merely rescuing the witch; he was also tasked with terminating Baron Lynx, thereby purging this traitor and potential threat from the Frost Wolf Clan's ledger!
As midnight approached, he infiltrated Mountain Cat Town undetected.
Baron Lynx's manse was readily identifiable. The derelict estate lacked any sentries, allowing him, with his current prowess, to gain entry with minimal effort.
He then proceeded into Baron Lynx's private chambers.
Yet, at that precise moment, Baron Lynx, resting in his bed, abruptly opened his eyes.
"Who goes there?"
Baron Lynx rapidly rose and seized the Knight's Sword stationed by his bedside.
David had no intention of engaging in dialogue. His form blurred, unleashing his Tier Two speed to its fullest extent, channeling the Frost Wolf bloodline's power into his blade as he launched a direct assault!
Clang—
The swords met with a sharp clang.
In the ensuing moment, Baron Lynx was overwhelmed by a formidable force that sent him hurtling backward!
His gaze was filled with astonishment and disbelief as he fixed his eyes on David, his voice quivering, "A Tier Two Knight!"
He had never anticipated encountering a Tier Two Knight in such an obscure location as Mountain Cat Town, let alone one intent on his assassination!
"Die!"
David attacked once more.
Baron Lynx, grievously wounded, was rendered utterly incapable of mounting any defense.
He could only witness his opponent's Knight's Sword slice across his throat, his consciousness plunging into the abyss.
"Simpler than I had anticipated," David commented, his countenance impassive after dispatching Baron Lynx with a single, swift strike.
While not his inaugural kill, it marked his first successful vanquishing of an Official Knight.
He then commenced a thorough search of Baron Lynx's bedchamber.
Presently, Frost Wolf Ridge languished in a state of destitution and financial hardship.
Although Baron Lynx was not exceptionally formidable, his status as an Official Knight and a territorial lord undoubtedly meant he possessed some measure of wealth.
Upon completing his search of the bedchamber, he discovered a treasure coffer containing approximately one hundred gold coins, a sum representing considerable fortune.
After discreetly transferring all the gold coins into the satchel attached to his waist, David proceeded to search the study and other areas.
Once his comprehensive acquisition of all valuables within the keep was finalized, he set fire to Baron Lynx's bedchamber, his corpse still within, and hastily departed the castle.
Flames erupted into the night sky behind him.
Alerted by the inferno, several knights raised shouts and hurried towards the castle.
Seizing the opportune moment, David made his way towards the dungeon where the witch was reportedly held captive.
Mountain Cat Town possessed a singular dungeon, structured across four levels, its walls meticulously constructed from robust granite, with the witch confined to the lowest stratum.
Donning a mask, David remained concealed outside the dungeon's confines, awaiting the shift change of the prison guards. He then exploited the brief window, entering with a swift movement.
He promptly produced a dagger, slit a guard's throat, and dragged the lifeless body into a secluded alcove before descending to the dungeon's deepest level.
The Frost Giant Wolf Bloodline had endowed him with acute night vision, akin to the Wolf Race. Even within the oppressive darkness of the dungeon, his vision remained exceptionally clear.
Empowered by the strength of a Tier Two Knight, his speed rendered him far superior to these common prison guards. He systematically eliminated all sentries along his path until he reached the dungeon's fourth level, where a solitary cell stood.
Within, the Ice Witch, as detailed in the intelligence reports, was bound to a cross.
It was late autumn, and the dungeon's frigid temperature was palpable, causing one's breath to mist, yet the witch was clad in naught but a flimsy garment.
The most definitive sign of her being the Ice Witch was her complete lack of reaction to the biting cold, a testament to her true nature. Her serene, sky-blue eyes, calm as the heavens before a tempest, turned upward as an unexpected presence materialized. David met her gaze, his intentions clear. Without a single wasted word, he drew the Knight’s Sword from his side and severed the thick metal chains binding her. A flicker of life ignited within the Ice Witch’s eyes as she observed the masked knight approach. He swiftly cut the bonds that held her to the cross, his voice resonating with a deep timbre, "I have come to free you." Circumstances unfolded far more easily than David had foreseen, a result largely attributed to his overwhelming power. Even the elite Knight’s Attendants were taken by surprise, falling before they could even muster a defense!
