Wizard: Starting With the Knights Breathing Method Chapter 3091: 634: Dream Wall
Previously on Wizard: Starting With the Knights Breathing Method...
"Thank you, madam."
Netherworld Ancestor inquired:
"Has the Dream Wall truly been fully constructed?"
Levi responded:
"Indeed, the subsequent phase involves real-world trials. If it proves effective in substantially reducing Nora’s casualties, we can then mount a counteroffensive without any reservations."
The Supreme Council had been wavering on initiating an assault.
They had been anticipating this very moment.
The Nightmare might be indifferent to the fate of its citizens.
However, Nora could not endure the relentless attrition of the Giant War.
In this existential conflict for civilization, Levi aimed not just for victory, but a resounding triumph with minimal losses, thereby honoring the lives that had flocked to Nora!
Furthermore, after vanquishing the Nightmare, Nora would be better positioned to confront the Abyss and the astral entities who sought to exploit the ensuing chaos; otherwise, civilization itself would crumble under relentless, bottom-level consumption.
Nora’s ultimate end would still be annihilation.
Netherworld Ancestor observed Nora’s swift progress with internal astonishment.
She recalled Sauron’s admonition: [Ten thousand years is too long; seize every moment]. Compared to the Gigantic World, teeming with long-lived species, these ephemeral beings, akin to mayflies experiencing but a single day, achieved vastly more within their constrained lifespans.
"Metabolism,"
Netherworld Ancestor softly uttered, a sense of caution dawning upon her.
Arrogance, stagnation, self-absorption, apathy... these were endemic afflictions of the giants, mirroring those found within the Underworld. Perhaps only by emulating Nora could they avoid succumbing to the same fate as the Nightmare.
...
Witnessing Nora's palpable strengthening.
The Nightmare found itself in a precarious position, compelled to escalate its incursions.
The Nightmare's destructive influence spread and broadened across more than thirty thousand New Worlds, unleashing innumerable Nightmare Creatures. Yet, the Nightmare was taken aback to discover that circumstances had changed.
Over fifty percent of their deployed forces were detected by Nora's formidable leaders and ingenious mechanical constructs while infiltrating the dreams of sentient beings, subsequently being surrounded and annihilated, never to return.
An additional ten percent of their forces were obliterated by that infernal top, which grew progressively more potent, capable of instantly replicating into a million simultaneous combatants, functioning as a relentless meat grinder.
A further ten percent perished from an unidentified spiritual toxin, likely a novel plague and poison developed by Nora specifically targeting Nightmares. This pathogen exhibited minimal effect on normal life forms and could lie dormant within them for extended periods. Upon Nightmare Creatures' intrusion into dreams, it would activate, initiating widespread contagion.
Consequently, only thirty percent of their forces succeeded in infiltration, but Nora and the Underworld could manage these incursions effectively, unlike their previous state of unpreparedness.
The ultimate outcome was thus:
This large-scale invasion by the Nightmare yielded less success than prior attempts. Merely 36 New Worlds were devastated, considered a "minor setback" given Nora’s vast expanse.
Conversely, the Nightmare itself suffered grievous losses. Previously, their offensives resembled sacrificing eight hundred of their own to fell a thousand enemies; now, it was akin to expending eight thousand for every thousand foes eliminated.
This drastic attrition prompted the Master of Horror to swiftly suspend the invasion.
It demanded:
"What has transpired? Why are the losses so substantial?"
Disaster Monarch, his expression grave, reported:
"Based on our intelligence, it seems Nora’s Dream Wall initiative has been completed, intercepting over half our deployed forces... It’s plausible that the military operations of previous years were merely a cover for this endeavor. My Lord, further delays could lead to unforeseen consequences; we must launch a full-scale assault immediately!"
...
Subsequently, time marched forward.
Within the Nightmare World.
The Dusk Army advanced unimpeded, carving a path through the Nightmare's very homeland, while the frontline Nightmare military made no effort to defend their territory.
Instead, they diverted formidable commanders, previously concealed within the Nightmare World, to the Nora Battlefield, seemingly unconcerned by the invasion of their homeland.
Concurrently, four hundred Monarchs, under the direct command of the Master of Horror, appeared to be engaged in the preparation of a ritualistic ceremony. This intelligence was relayed to Nora, prompting an urgent strategic conference among the Supreme Council.
They ultimately resolved to commence a counteroffensive in the year 3500 of the Nora Calendar. Regardless of any stratagems the Nightmare might be employing, Nora stood prepared, awaiting the signal for the entire host to surge forth!
...
A decade later.
The Land of Darkness.
A brilliant beam of golden light rent the void, plunging into the Ancient Dragon Continent.
"Master, I have returned!"
A young boy, clad in resplendent golden armor and wielding a matching golden longsword, arrived at the Ancient Banyan Fairyland. He found Levi instructing the three siblings in combat techniques.
Levi offered a smile tinged with pride.
"Are you unharmed?"
Leon tapped his chest with reassurance and stated:
"Nothing much, I was merely trapped within the Land of Darkness for an extended period. It felt like being plunged into an endless nightmare, but thankfully, a profound hunger jolted me awake. Alone with my sword, I battled the Land of Darkness for three days and three nights, successfully transcending a Great Tribulation."
Levi's heart was stirred by this account.
It was evident that the Land of Darkness employed the same tactic against Leon as it had against him. Even the Master of the Universe had limited methods at its disposal.
Levi inquired,
"What is your current strength? We are on the verge of engaging in a war with Nightmare."
Leon responded,
"It should be comparable to Level 10 Middle Stage... I'm not entirely certain, as my path is that of the [Spirit Dominator], which allows me to devour and absorb souls.
Within me, I nurture a [Spiritual River] capable of birthing new true souls, sending them into reincarnation, and initiating rebirth."
Levi listened intently, his expression thoughtful as he fell into a deep silence.
Leon questioned,
"Master, is there an issue with this?"
Levi gradually shook his head.
"There isn't a problem, per se. It's merely that your path will inevitably conflict with your mother's. Have you considered how you will resolve this? Achieving supremacy might prove quite challenging."
'Mother River' was not an entity of benevolence.
Such primeval existences gave rise to mighty life forms, sustained powers, and waged wars—all actions undertaken for its own development and expansion.
Leon stated,
"I have contemplated this, and I have also informed Mother. I will not seek supremacy within the Dark Universe. Instead, I will search for a universe where the rules are incomplete to achieve my path."
Levi remarked,
"Very well, as long as you understand. The universe, for beings like us, is still too constrained. The boundless possibilities of the Multi-Universe are our true home."
