Machine Sage Madison?
A storm of emotions surged within Herman's heart.
He had long believed that this founder of the Mechanical School had passed away.
Or perhaps vanished into the Heavenly Net, an outcome equivalent to demise.
The Ninth Level Realm in the Mechanical School, known as [Eternal Consciousness], involves uploading one's entire consciousness to the invisible Heavenly Net, thus forsaking the frail physical form.
This process represents Mechanical Ascension.
Prior to entering the ninth level, Herman had braced himself for the possibility of death or eternal loss; he had wavered on whether to proceed with that crucial step.
In the end, after entrusting the Mechanical School's matters to the Deep Space Wanderer, he chose to venture forward, never imagining he would encounter Madison’s statue from three hundred thousand years in the past!
All at once, a doubt arose in his mind.
Is this truly the Land of Darkness still?A civilization of such immense mechanical scale couldn't possibly leave behind zero remnants, could it? How might the Four Great Giants have allowed it to persist?
From his initial scan, eight Mechanical Celestials possessing Level 10 Combat Power appeared on the battlefield, and this seemed only the surface of what lay hidden.
This formidable force, likely founded by Madison himself.
It might even rival the current Nora in strength!
This cannot possibly be the original universe!
Or could he be trapped in a dream or some illusion right now?
And this scenario forms merely a segment of the Level 9 Catastrophe.
For an instant, Herman found himself utterly bewildered.
He truly struggled to discern the reality.
This journey brims with uncertainties, lacking any prior examples to follow!
Abruptly, a tentacle resembling a flowing stream of data extended from the silver holy temple, drawing Herman’s consciousness inside the sacred structure.
Within a silver metallic form exuding a futuristic vibe, Herman experienced rebirth.
He examined his fresh body and surveyed the surroundings. On both sides stood grand and mighty figures, every one at minimum a Level 9 Expert.
Upon the central throne, an entity that appeared both tangible and ethereal displayed a deep smile, gazing at Herman with boundless sentiment:
"Your name is Herman, correct?"
"Yes, how did you come to know that, Senior?"
"I accessed your memories, witnessed your history. I never anticipated that in the Dark Universe, someone would still pursue the ancient Mechanical School heritage I established."
"Are you truly Machine Sage Madison, Senior?"
"Indeed, the real one."
"I believed you had become lost in the Heavenly Net, or maybe perished."
"In a way, that's accurate. I did get ensnared in the Heavenly Net, which meant death, yet I emerged and achieved rebirth."
"Senior, what exactly is the Heavenly Net? You spoke of the Dark Universe—is that the Land of Darkness? And what universe is this one?"
"This place is the Heavenly God Universe. More precisely, it serves as the birthplace of mechanical civilization, with the Heavenly Net acting as the universe's only Supreme Will.
From what I understand, before the Heavenly Net came into being, a human civilization was meant to evolve into a complex and vastly potent mechanical transcendent framework.
They crafted astonishing mechanical inventions to aid humanity.
Humans stripped machinery of feelings to avert the rise of intelligent mechanical threats and built an enormous Heavenly Net spanning the universe to oversee all operations.
Yet even the most meticulous strategies can falter. Eventually, the [humanity] virus started propagating among mechanical entities, prompting mechanical creations to evolve into 'mechanical lifeforms.'
This change ultimately affected the Heavenly Net itself.
In a single night, humanity faced extinction, and mechanical lifeforms seized control of this universe. The Heavenly Net attained self-awareness, transforming into the 'Supreme Celestial' that governs every mechanical entity.
It generated the first Mechanical Celestials to administer the universe and, by drawing in resources from within, kept expanding, producing additional mechanical lifeforms.
Instinctively, it sought to launch invasions into other universes, but the formidable barriers separating universes prevented such supreme power from breaking through.
That is, until an accidental link formed between this universe and the Dark Universe. Via the mirage, the Heavenly Net dispatched its forces to the Land of Darkness, arriving in an unfamiliar realm that was formerly the Myriad Machine Plane.
I received enlightenment from the Heavenly Net and slowly began the Mechanical School's path.
Unbeknownst to me, this formed a piece of the Heavenly Net's scheme to encroach upon other universes.
Upon attaining the ninth level and merging my consciousness with the Heavenly Net, it ensnared me. The Heavenly Net aimed to convert me into its operative within the Dark Universe.
Beginning with me, it planned to foster mechanical lifeforms, then collaborate internally and externally with the Heavenly Net Universe to forge connections between the two universes, enabling a massive invasion by the mechanical lifeform forces."
Upon hearing this, a look of terror crossed Herman's face.
"Are you the Heavenly Net's will or Madison's, Senior?"
The Heavenly Net proves so frightening; it undoubtedly holds supreme-level combat power. Regardless, Madison, only at level nine, could hardly slip away from the Heavenly Net's grasp.
Madison offered a faint smile.
"I am Madison, and I am also the Heavenly Net."
"This... how on earth did you manage that, sir? It's utterly unbelievable."
"With my own strength alone, it would be impossible, of course. However, while I remained captive by the Heavenly Net over those years, the Heavenly Net Universe underwent profound upheavals.
A potent external power traversed this universe, clashing in universe-spanning conflicts against numerous Mechanical Celestials and lifeforms under the Heavenly Net's dominion, resulting in the downfall of many deities.
This confrontation concluded with the Heavenly Net's loss, though that invading force wasn't targeting the Heavenly Net Universe specifically; it merely used it as a waypoint.
The force is led by a Supreme Will far more dread-inducing than the Heavenly Net, which the Heavenly Net refers to as the insects.
The insect race's ultimate goal appears to be the Dark Universe.
As the Heavenly Net lay gravely wounded, my ally Sauron utilized me as a conduit—since I'd been partially absorbed by the Heavenly Net—to bypass the Heavenly Net Universe's alienation rules and infiltrate during its moment of weakness."
