"Senior, do you require something?"
Levi stepped forward to welcome the Legendary Wizard, who had arrived for a surprise visit.
"I have reviewed your findings, and they are truly remarkable. They bring back memories of the years I spent trapped within the Lost Monarch's form," Daydreamer remarked, a smile playing on his lips.
Levi inquired, "Senior, am I following the right path?"
"There is no doubt. This spell sequence leads directly to the legendary rank. You must grasp this opportunity and never falter. Once you achieve legendary status, you can use this foundation to develop a tenth-circle spell powerful enough to oppose the Lost Monarch. Our School of Dreams is currently engaged in a contest with it, and your assistance may yet be required," Daydreamer spoke with high praise.
"Understood. My mind is clear now."
Seizing the moment, Levi asked the Legendary Wizard for guidance, and the two worked together to refine and enhance the spell sequence.
...
Nightmare World.
Lost Domain.
The Lost King stirred from his slumber upon his silent throne. An elegant figure, the Devouring Sky Demon Lord, approached him with a grin.
"What is the purpose of your visit?"
"I am here to propose a collaboration."
"There is nothing between us that requires cooperation, is there?"
"What is your perspective on the rise of Nora?"
"I have none. It does not interest me, nor can it impact me."
"I received word that a wizard recently broke free from your labyrinth and even reached the legendary rank. Do you not think he will come seeking vengeance eventually?"
"And if he does? Since my inception, countless gods have pursued revenge against me, only to end up as fuel for my growing maze. I would welcome more to try."
"You are still clinging to your past triumphs, Sir Rostrevor. Wake up and look around... the era has changed. Nora has repelled three demonic waves and has even stretched its influence into the Nightmare World."
"Are you speaking of that Black Dragon Territory on the border?"
"Indeed."
"It could be erased in an instant."
"And then what? The true bodies of those wizards remain in Nora; they only enter the Nightmare World through the projection power of the Black Dragon Lord. Even if you slay them, they can return. Striking prematurely might only warn Nora and make them cautious."
"What are you suggesting?"
"Your power and status far exceed mine. We should join forces and rally more Nightmare Monarchs... for a crusade against Nora!"
"An alliance with the Abyss?"
"Certainly not. We need only wait and seize the rewards while the Abyss and Nora exhaust each other.
Do not forget, we already possess the majority of the universe's dark side fragments, including those belonging to Nora. Infiltrating Nora is simpler for us than for the Abyss. We can also move an entire legion through the existing spatial nodes."
The Lost Monarch seemed swayed by the Devouring Sky Demon Lord's argument. After a moment of reflection, he replied, "I shall consider it. I will give you my answer soon."
"Very well. I will begin contacting the monarchs of the neighboring large domains. Do not drift back to sleep; otherwise, by the time you wake, the Abyss will have claimed Nora, or Nora will have... become a new titan."
With a soft chuckle, the image of the Devouring Sky Demon Lord faded away.
...
One month later.
Nora Dark Side.
Windmill Village.
Owens, who had progressed to the eighth rank of the Gray Swordsman, was busy hunting the Fallen Objects that infested the Ashen World. He had lived this life for millennia, yet his eyes now held more hope than ever before.
"Owens, how have things been lately?"
Levi arrived to see his old companion, bringing a massive haul of Nightmare Crystals.
"I'm managing, though the number of monsters continues to grow... By the way, Levi, are you close to reaching level 10?" Owens asked, wiping sweat from his brow.
"I am still a little short of that goal."
"That is impressive. When we first crossed paths, we were equal, but now... there is no comparison," Owens remarked, resting on the ground with his longsword planted beside him.
Levi chatted with him for a short time, and before departing, he gave a final instruction:
"Owens, send word to me immediately if anything unusual occurs here."
"I will."
Upon his return to the Ancient Dragon Continent, Levi felt a sense of dread. Lately, he had been plagued by an intuition that a major event was looming.
Utilizing the [Deep Red Eyes], he noticed a new level 10 hostile entity appearing on the central display. Though the figure was blurry, the crimson and black sky in the background identified it as a denizen of the Nightmare World. Levi grew cautious and audited every location connected to the Nightmare World.
"Is it possible the Nightmare Overlords I hunted were discovered by the monarchs behind them?" he whispered to himself.
If so, that distorted figure was likely the Devouring Sky Demon Lord. Of all the monarchs he had crossed, its power was the most formidable, potentially at the late stage of level 10.
Levi was puzzled; if the enemy knew his identity, why hadn't they struck the Black Dragon Territory yet? Regardless, he shared his findings with Daydreamer to ensure the powerful figure was prepared.
Daydreamer advised Levi not to fret, referencing the Copycat Sauron’s proverb: "Blessings are not disasters, and disasters cannot be avoided."
Bolstered by the Legendary Wizard's confidence, Levi resumed his Cultivation, ensuring the Black Dragon Territory remained at peak combat readiness. He prepared for the absolute worst—the destruction of his territory and a fresh start elsewhere. Given his current Cultivation, relocating to a new area remained a viable option.
...
A year later.
Nora Calendar 1593.
Despair Domain.
The Despair Sovereign watched the Devouring Sky Demon Lord depart with a sense of relief. It coiled around the Sky Dome, its eyes shifting as it contemplated the situation.
It had feared the Devouring Sky Demon Lord had found out about its past bullying of the Horror Dominator, but the visit was for a far more momentous reason.
The Devouring Sky Demon Lord was organizing several Nightmare Monarchs to invade Nora, intending to snatch the spoils of the Blood Battle between the Abyss and Nora. This conflict's scale was rivaled only by the ancient Nightmare World invasion of the Shadow to seize the Dark Side of the Universe.
Furthermore, the Devouring Sky Demon Lord had realized the Black Dragon Lord was responsible for the missing Nightmare Overlords and intended to use that as a formal excuse for war.
In truth, with the Nightmare World's reputation, an excuse was unnecessary... the Black Dragon Lord had simply wandered into the line of fire.
"What should I do? Should I join them?"
As a master of survival, the Despair Sovereign had no desire to get involved. However, as a rising king, it feared that refusing to cooperate would lead to isolation or being targeted by the others.
When faced with uncertainty, simulate!
"Snake of the End" simulator! Activate!
Taking a sharp breath, it bit its own tail. As blood spilled, its serpentine form completed a mystical circle of fate.
Two years passed.
After ten thousand simulations, the Despair Sovereign was deathly pale, its energy nearly spent. It gazed toward the Black Dragon Territory with shock in its eyes. Blood leaked from its mouth as it gasped:
"How is this possible? Could my calculations be wrong?"
