Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1603 - 554: Steel Dragon

Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
A mysterious black-gray gas, probing with eerie intent, infiltrated the Second Prince's mansion and seized Everton, leaving him entranced by a vial of untested Super Evolution Potion while murmuring of Cologne Cathedral's depths. Buchanan reported the collapse of elf blood essence experiments, thwarted by Rein's rescues and heightened elven vigilance, fueling Everton's growing resentment toward the elves and their protector. Meanwhile, Rein descended upon the forsaken Angma Mine atop Black Dragon Metheus, consulting garrison captain Char Hammond on past tremors from the slumbering metallic dragon below, before unleashing metal-absorbing magic that stirred the earth and summoned monstrous guardians from the depths.

"Roar!!!"

A profound and mighty roar resounded from the deep fissure!

From the rift burst a colossal dragon head adorned with sharp spikes. Based solely on its immense scale, it rivaled the full length of Black Dragon Metheus's form.

The enormous dark brown dragon eyes locked first onto the massive Black Dragon Metheus, before shifting with fierce concentration to the metallic sphere that Rein had forged multiple times.

It was obvious to everyone that the orb of metal drew far more fascination from it than the black dragon lurking close by.

In his thoughts, Rein gave a subtle affirmation to the creature's response, having deliberately infused a hefty quantity of precious metals into the sphere, and the outcome looked promising indeed.

"Ah, a weak Five-Colored Dragon and a slightly interesting wizard, you disturb the great Dorick’s slumber. (Dragon Language)" Soon, a resonant voice boomed in a grave timbre.

The dragon of metal, known as Dorick, uttered words in the Dragon Language, displaying clear contempt toward the Five-Colored Dragon.

"You..." At the mocking inflection, Black Dragon Metheus let out a furious huff, clearly provoked, yet Rein halted him with a quick signal.

"Wizard, this is the food you created. Now, as compensation for disturbing my slumber, respectfully offer your delicacy. (Dragon Language)"

Those words prompted Rein to chuckle inwardly without a sound, though everything unfolded just as he had schemed.

With a snap of his fingers from Rein, the millstone-like metallic sphere hurtled straight into the dragon's maw, which Dorick gulped down effortlessly.

"Not bad, Wizard, you have potential as my cook. (Dragon Language)" It savored the taste by licking its jaws contentedly.

"Additionally, as the price of disturbance, one is not enough—I demand three!"

Next to him, Black Dragon Metheus burned with far greater fury than Rein; after all, such an insult struck at the core of his master's honor!

"Master, let me teach this one a good lesson, otherwise, even if subdued, it won’t truly obey."

"Oh, the weak Five-Colored Dragon wishes to challenge the great Dorick? Black Dragon, join forces with your master. Perhaps we can wager—if you lose, become Dorick’s slaves, do you dare accept? (Dragon Language)"

A cunning gleam sparked in the eyes of the metallic dragon Dorick as he declared this.

"And what if you lose?" Rein replied with steady composure.

"Lose? I cannot possibly lose."

"This isn’t a fair wager. If you lose, you must sign a contract with me. If you agree, we’ll proceed." Rein shook his head and stated.

Ancient Empire texts offered only scattered details on metallic dragons, some of which seemed distorted or inaccurate.

For example, the sly demeanor it showed now clashed sharply with the savage disposition described in the annals; this one came across as crafty rather than brutal.

Rein pondered whether this specimen was unique or if the historical accounts had erred.

"Alright, it seems your confidence stems from the black dragon beside you."

"However, to oppose the great Dorick is quite overestimating oneself." Noting Rein's resolve, the metallic dragon Dorick agreed with casual indifference.

Once Dorick hauled its full body free from the crevice, Rein found himself scrutinizing its shape over and over, noting resemblances to a typical giant dragon yet marked by profound distinctions.

A line of razor-edged spikes ran along its spine, while its robust tail ended in similar protrusions, evoking the image of an oversized spiked mace; these barbs mirrored the keen edges from Rein's Steel Forest spell, gleaming with lethal precision.

The standout feature was its set of fleshy wings, utterly unlike those of the Five-Colored Dragon—no, better termed as sword extensions.

Slender as flesh wings might be, their cutting edge shone through plainly; clearly, this dragon's wings had morphed into specialized weapons.

Yet every strength carries a flaw. Such adaptations had greatly hampered its ability to soar.

In particular, Rein knew of no metallic dragon that could harness Wind Energy Particles.

"Then begin!"

"Snap!"

When Black Dragon Metheus's huge claw raked over the opponent's lustrous dark silver hide, it produced a grating noise like clashing steels.

Metheus's eyes bulged in shock; tremendous opposition met its strike, and even the claw ends smarted from the impact—the Steel Dragon's armor proved utterly formidable.

On the other side, the foe's sword-sharp metallic wings, driven by blistering pace, swiftly carved a deep wound across Metheus's toughened dragon scales, spilling bright red blood.

Hurt in just one clash?

Plus, from the relaxed look on the dragon's face, it had barely tapped its power.

This caused Rein to squint his eyes a touch.

Evidently, the Steel Dragon's fighting prowess, especially in close combat, outstripped that of the Five-Colored Dragon by a wide margin, since the black dragon excelled most in hand-to-hand brawls among its kind.

"Metheus, aerial combat!" Rein called out without delay.

Rein’s meaning dawned on Metheus at once; it flung open its wings wide and soared upward swiftly.

But steel dragon Dorick moved with startling quickness; a colossal tail like a whipping shadow lashed out, sending Metheus reeling back in agony from gashes on its chest and belly, hurled away at tremendous velocity.
