Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1591 - 549: Mad Wings_3

Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
Menia guided Rein through the half-plane's passages to the lair of 'Mad Wings' Metheus, a formidable black dragon second only to the Dragon King in power. Awakening to the scent of Dragon Bloodline, Metheus greeted Menia as the Empire's acting regent and dismissed Rein as a potential Dragon Knight, citing his past rampage that fatally injured his previous rider, Ignaz, and deeming a wizard's physique insufficient to control its berserk fury. Undeterred, Rein inquired about the requirements and then unleashed his Extreme Ancient Dragon Transformation, manifesting as a massive dark silver dragon with pure bloodline density that stunned Metheus, before proposing a spar to demonstrate his ability to handle the dragon's rage.

Upon listening to Rein's statement, Metheus showed no signs of anger and merely shook his head while responding:

"No need, I agree to become your giant dragon partner."

"Offspring of Dragon, let's sign the contract." Metheus turned his head a bit and addressed Menia at his side.

"Alright." Menia's grin widened even more.

The power of 'Mad Wings' Metheus cannot be questioned; by forming a pact with it, Rein not only boosts his own abilities, but the Empire also acquires a vital ally.

She removed an eye-shaped pendant from her pale neck, gripped it firmly, and started chanting the incantation without delay.

Rein recognized this as the Royal Family's advanced magical relic, the 'Eye of the Giant Dragon.'

In no time, an odd and immense wave of sorcery emerged within the Dragon Nest.

Right before Rein and the Black Dragon Metheus, a series of ancient symbols in spiritual script materialized from nowhere, outlining the essence of partnership, mutual support, combat alongside each other, and more.

Once he scanned the agreement's conditions, Rein promptly lifted his finger and directed it forward.

As a surge of spiritual energy swept through, the spot for the contractant's name beneath the floating ancient script filled with 'Rein Carlan.'

Similarly, 'Mad Wings' Metheus extended its massive dragon talon, aiming it upward, and a Dragon Clan true name far lengthier than Rein's showed up under the ethereal writing.

Suddenly, the pact was sealed!

Right then, a system alert rang out:

[Ding! Host’s first contract with a giant dragon, current contracted pet count (3/4)]

[Ding! Host triggered the epic event of transferring to Dragon Knight—contract giant dragon!]

[Preconditions for transferring to Dragon Knight (Epic) are: First, contract with any giant dragon; second, Giant Beast Knight or related profession level 5 or above; third, Strength 50 points or above, Agility 50 points or above, Constitution 50 points or above, Spirit 50 points or above... current conditions met! Proceed to transfer to Dragon Knight (Epic)?]

[Note: Advancing to Dragon Knight (Epic) will replace the Beast Priest (Legendary) profession panel.]

Witnessing this anticipated class change prompt, Rein felt a surge of joy and instantly selected "Yes!" without a second thought.

[Ding! Transfer successful!]

[Transfer to Dragon Knight (Epic)! Strength +5, Agility +5, Constitution +5, Spirit +5! Obtained Dragon Knight (Epic) core skill: Giant Dragon Partner (passive).]

Giant Dragon Partner (passive): As a Dragon Knight, when you and your giant dragon partner fight together, you will have the hidden battle aura boost, gaining full attribute enhancement effects.]

(Note: Fighting together means the distance between the two parties cannot exceed the range of consciousness sensing.)

Hmm?

Metheus immediately sensed something off, like an extra element beyond the Dragon offspring's contract bond.

Yet, after probing deeper once more, it found nothing unusual and gave a slight shake of its head, dismissing the thought.

"Rein, congratulations." Menia, standing nearby, observed the moment, approached, and offered a gentle smile of praise.

"Thank you."

...

Several minutes passed, and a colossal black dragon emerged over the Imperial Palace, climbing swiftly into the upper skies before vanishing in a shimmer of hiding sorcery.

"Roar~~~"

In that instant, the black dragon unleashed a resonant and mighty bellow.

Atop the expansive back of the black dragon Metheus, covered in shining dark scales, Rein positioned himself with a beaming expression.

"Finally, I have become a Dragon Knight!"

...

A short while later.

Rein reached the office at Sword Holder Headquarters.

Even though he had risen to Imperial Guardian, with the Empire still reeling from a massive upheaval, his responsibilities at Sword Holder remained unchanged for now.

Olena, informed of Rein's arrival, showed up at the entrance moments later and bowed politely: "Lord, a confidential missive from the Imperial Palace Attendant has arrived, and additionally, Sect Leader Moria has dispatched an urgent dispatch."

"The urgent dispatch from Sect Leader Moria was supposed to come the day before yesterday, but the chaos of the Imperial City's grand battle held it up until today."

"Oh?" Rein's eyebrows knitted together as he accepted the document and started perusing it right away.

Regarding the message from the Imperial Palace Attendant, Rein felt no rush, since Menia had already informed him it included a chart of a dragon lair possibly belonging to the Steel Dragon.

"Have they uncovered a concealed base of the Tutkash School? Surround it without striking... await my orders. Sect Leader Moria appears quite prudent." Rein let out a breath of relief as he noted this and commented.

Though he had abandoned 'Destroyer,' Graham lay gravely wounded from his assault, and Evil God Nael Breccan's two manifestations were destroyed, foes could still turn to extreme ploys or unique strategies in combat.

Moria proves wise and careful, opting only to have forces surround the site.

"Lord, is the matter grave?"

"It's under control, though some losses occurred."

"It looks like I'll have to head to the Shirendil Plateau to wipe out this Tutkash School entirely, given its ties to Evil God Nael Breccan."

"If not, as the energy tide surges grow stronger, the power of summoned manifestations by the adversaries could rise even further."

Before long, Rein resolved his decision.

"Lord, I'll prepare a swift aerial vessel for you."

"Hold on, from now on, unless I say otherwise, no need to set one up for me."

"Hmm?" Olena blinked, showing a touch of bewilderment.

But as she trailed Rein outside, soon a potent aura pressed down abruptly, and though nothing was visible, Olena felt an instinctive terror rising from her core.

The moment Rein vaulted onto Metheus's back, the imposing form of 'Mad Wings' briefly revealed itself to Olena's gaze, piercing the veil of concealment sorcery.

"Gasp~ it's so big!" Olena instinctively covered her mouth and gasped in awe.

"Has Lord Rein formed a bond with a giant dragon?"

"Congratulations, Lord Rein."

"Mm, thank you, Olena, I'm off now." Rein gave a small nod and a warm smile.

Then, Rein tapped Metheus's back, and amid a rush of powerful winds, the man and dragon vanished rapidly from Sword Holder Headquarters.
