Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1584 - 546: The Emperor’s Demise (Part 3)

"Go!"
Confronting this powerful blow, the faces of the multiple gods darkened instantly.
"All of you, activate the Wall of Sighs!"
Grek, the god of the limb cults, lifted his arm first, converting his highly pure divine energy into a translucent barrier positioned ahead, as the remaining gods poured their own divine power into it too.
Right away, the barrier's density grew noticeably thicker.
Right then, the vibrant energy ball collided with the almost meter-thick 'Wall of Sighs.'
"Boom!!!"
The thunderous blast echoed across the whole of Imperial City Tamriel, while the structures around the Imperial Palace lit up with endless intricate witch array designs in a flash, only to shatter utterly upon a single look!
Once the fierce shockwave faded away, the gods stood unharmed, yet the formerly clear barrier had become almost invisible now.
"The strength of the divine incarnations has dropped!" yelled one of the Imperial Guardians.
Even though the Wall of Sighs hadn't fully broken, every Imperial Guardian there sensed that the gods had drained nearly all their power just to block the Emperor's assault.
"Hmm? You..." Out of nowhere, the Nether Sea Goddess Hela gazed at Carlos II in astonishment before grinning.
"So that's how it is."
"Human Emperor, looks like you've lost once more this round. Victory is ours!"
With those words, the incarnation of the Nether Sea Goddess Hela faded away into thin air on purpose.
She chose to dissolve her divine energy herself.
One advantage here was that the dispersed fragment of the godhead's consciousness slowly merged back with the primary form, in contrast to the God of Hunting Luen, whose share got wiped out straight by the system.
After catching Hela's declaration, the other gods appeared to grasp the situation too, and following a few close inspections of Carlos II, they smirked faintly and dissolved into the atmosphere.
This occurrence obviously baffled the Empire's people nearby.
"Sigh~"
In that instant, a deep sigh escaped from the lips of the human Emperor, whose presence commanded awe.
At the same time, every Imperial Guardian on site, including Rein suspended high in the sky far off, detected Carlos II's presence swiftly weakening.
From close to Demigod rank, it crashed down directly to Epic Peak, Late Stage...
"Your Majesty!"
Elder Ivan seemed to catch on to it, tears flowing as he rushed forward swiftly, yet the very next instant saw him halt rigidly, his extended arms stuck frozen in the air.
There, the Emperor’s Scepter gripped by Carlos II started to crumble—no, more accurately, it was crumbling into dust, the scepter resembling pure gold now reduced to fine particles...
Witnessing that, Rein stood briefly shocked!
The Emperor’s Scepter had left a strong mark on him.
During his time at the Sword Bearers Branch in Mingster Province, on various tasks, he'd wielded a copy of the Emperor’s Scepter to overcome numerous foes.
Yet at this moment, the real Emperor’s Scepter was breaking down right in front of him...
Still, the scepter wasn't the only thing affected.
Carlos II himself was too...
As the scepter fell apart, his arm followed, then his body, and ultimately his whole form, resulting in a faintly glowing outline that lingered upright, not quite gone yet.
"So, the latest attempt at ascension ended in failure?"
The idea flashed through Rein’s thoughts immediately.
He'd assumed Carlos II had truly reached Demigod status, allowing him to overpower every divine incarnation at once.
But surprisingly, he'd pulled it off through extreme overexertion.
That very notion struck the minds of all those gathered.
"No!!! Father has actually failed!"
The Second Prince Everton's eyes bulged wide, his complexion drained of all hue.
"It's finished, the Dragan Empire is done for!" he muttered.
