In the Imperial Palace, Menia and the royal elders with dragon blood convened an emergency meeting, deciding to hold a new Guardian's investiture ceremony in two days as a pretext to summon most Imperial Guardians and Crown Walker back to the capital, despite concerns over weakened provincial defenses against cults. Secret messages were dispatched via magical means and swift birds to enact the plan, aiming to conceal their true intent from potential Divine interference. Meanwhile, at the Bixiu Mechanization School, Rein advanced his Steel Heart meditation to 412 will runes, benefiting from the fading effects of the Extraordinary Wisdom Potion, before receiving an urgent summons from Menia. In a secure chamber, Menia revealed the emperor's prior failed ascension to Demigod, thwarted by Divine Avatars and masked as a success for morale, with the energy tide's fluctuations accelerating threats from reviving Divines. She also explained that the Empire's ancient Demigod ancestors, including the founding emperor, had ventured to other worlds two millennia ago as the energy tide waned, beyond the limits of human lifespan.

"Other worlds?" Rein's eyes widened just a bit, filled with surprise.

Rein had come across mentions and accounts of various other realms in old tomes, yet he understood perfectly that the realms Menia referred to were absolutely not the hellish realms or infernal domains.

"Does it involve passing through a kind of spatial gateway?"

"No, the ancient texts record that the forebears themselves declared only those who reach Demigod status can detect that shifting gateway via an enigmatic intuition," Menia clarified in a measured tone.

"An enigmatic intuition, detecting that shifting gateway?" Rein paid close attention, his forehead creasing faintly.

Assuming the words from the other party held truth, with no errors in the ancient accounts, what had been disclosed demanded deep reflection.

"Might this explain why the Divines arrived in incarnations, blocking His Majesty's rise to higher realms?"

"It's unclear, maybe that's part of it, or perhaps not entirely due to this alone," Menia replied, shaking her head.

Rein gave a nod, grasping the situation fully.

Though Menia held a key position in the Royal Family, she wasn't the Empire Emperor, so lacking access to certain utmost confidences was entirely expected.

On top of that, the details he'd gained that day were already abundant.

"Rein, should things turn as dire as before, I urge you to prioritize your own well-being," Menia's lovely gaze fixed on Rein as she spoke with sincere concern.

"I will, Menia—take care of yourself too."

"Oh, and remember, this issue remains highly classified right now. Beyond the Royal Family elders, the rest of the Empire Guardians haven't been informed of the exact details yet."

"Mm."

...

Upon departing from the Imperial Palace's side chamber, Rein headed back home first to handle a few arrangements.

Luckily, his home sat in the Third Ring of the Imperial City, quite distant from the Imperial Palace. During the previous conflict, the primary damage struck only the Imperial Palace and the Inner Ring.

The Second Ring escaped with barely any harm, much less the Third Ring.

That said, Rein took steps for essential safeguards and notifications anyway.

He instructed his family to stay indoors over the next couple of days and erected a defensive Witch Array around the home to shield from potential battle spillovers.

"Rein, is trouble brewing?" The stunning woman Jennifer appeared to pick up on some unease.

"No need to fret—it's merely a safeguard," Rein couldn't break his vow to Menia about keeping it quiet, and for folks below Epic level strength, learning too soon could prove unwise.

Several hours passed before Rein made his way back to the Bixiu Mechanization School.

On this visit, though, he skipped the hidden room and proceeded directly to the Mechanical Assembly Hall.

As he gazed upon the immense Mechanical Demon Dragon, a glint of keen intensity sparked in Rein's eyes.

"If Menia's assessment proves right, the day after tomorrow promises real peril, yet it offers me a chance as well—success hinges on my ability to grasp it."

After a brief contemplation, Rein called for Audrey and instructed:

"Audrey, what's the stock of rare minerals in the school? Bring every bit of them here."

...

Meanwhile.

The skies over Casweis Province.

An aged wizard mounted on a huge Blue Dragon appeared to be surveying conditions in his domain, until abruptly, the insignia on his Wizard Robe's front shimmered faintly. He made a motion, paused to hear it out, and at once displayed a trace of uncertainty.

Yet soon enough, the dragon and its passenger sped off swiftly toward Imperial City Tamriel.

...

Deep inside the Beverly Mountains' enormous Wind Roc nest.

All at once, the Wind Roc Queen Beatrix lifted her elegant visage and glanced askance at the heavens. A well-known presence rushing off was vividly felt by her.

"Has Walkmas departed as well?"

"Looks like the crisis sparked by this Energy tide is genuinely remarkable."

Viewed from lofty heights, a colossal Silver Dragon hurtled through the clouds toward the Imperial City, bearing on its back an old man in a gray Wizard Robe, gripping a gnarled staff of gray wood.

This figure was Walkmas himself, a veteran Empire Guardian hailing from Sword Bearer roots, who once encountered Rein.

Right then, expanding the perspective across the whole Empire Territory would reveal comparable occurrences in the skies over Moselle Province, Nome Province, Sava Province, and various other Empire regions.

...

A day afterward.

Shirendil Plateau.

Within the subterranean Mechanical Assembly Hall at the Isodre School Station, a handful of High Rank Wizards—five or six—were deep in conversation.

Bradley, who served as Deputy Sect Leader of the Bixiu Mechanization School, eyed the sand table replicating Shirendil Plateau's full configuration, his features beaming with delight, and declared:

"Sect Leader, thanks to the huge supply of Mechanical Scythe Claw Dragons and Sharp Roar Dragons provided by Lord Rein, along with robust backing from the Isodre School, we're utterly dominant now and have swept nearly seventy percent of the plateau's territory."

"Furthermore, the key aspect here is that, based on the patterns of those alien spider hordes, we can pretty much pinpoint the Secret School’s Tutkash Station to this slim band."

Bradley indicated the slim band along the plateau's western edge and continued.

"Hmm, what a satisfying triumph!"

"Still, the true challenge begins at this point. I recommend halting any more assaults right away and dispatching word to Lord Rein, inviting him to the plateau," Sect Leader Moria replied, his face far from cheerful—instead, it carried wariness as he voiced his thoughts.

He'd reviewed the thorough combat logs, and despite the aid from those potent mechanical constructs, the losses among the wizards remained considerable.
