Erebus consummated his bond with Seren in unrelenting passion, completing the mark as shadows enveloped them and locked their souls together. Exhausted, Seren slept under his tender watch while he awaited the bond mark's formation. Awakening sore, she was carried naked to a healing hot spring by the possessive dragon, where he mated with her again despite her protests, earning her mumbled reproach as a 'bad dragon.'

Seren felt joy that this icy silent dragon was making an effort to communicate at last.

With her prepared once again, he stood ready to scoop her up into his arms.

"Hold on! I can walk on my own," she protested. "Where to now?"

To answer, he grasped her hand, leading her from the room toward the kitchen. Erebus had readied a meal just for her, identical to what Drayce would make.

Though prepared by another, it matched perfectly. He guided her to the cozy dining table with its pair of chairs and laid out the food before her.

"Thank you," she exclaimed with glee, too famished to delay. The scent alone was mouthwatering.

After a few hasty bites, Erebus caught her hand to halt her.

She shot him a annoyed glance, only to meet his piercing gaze in return.

"Fine. I won’t choke. I’ll eat slower," she conceded, surprised by how well she read him.

Even if only from her side, talking with him came naturally.

"Won’t you join me?" she inquired, offering him a piece of meat, assuming dragons favored it over greens.

Erebus accepted the bite and shared the meal with her.

Once she finished and felt satisfied, she cautioned him, "I’m not returning to that room, and no more mating. I need a rest."

His brow furrowed in clear disapproval of her words.

"What?" she challenged. "Show some care. I’m just a fragile human compared to you. I require recovery. Stop fixating on mating constantly. Act human, not beastly. Be thoughtful."

He gazed at her without a sound.

This left her thinking, ’I hope I didn’t upset him, or he’ll drag me back to bed for sure.’

"I’d like a stroll after eating," she declared, rising to her feet. ’Better escape quick before he reconsiders. Beasts aren’t reliable. If he begins now, no sunlight till tomorrow.’

She exited the cottage without looking back. The lush greenery outside was stunning, along with the majestic snowy peaks.

Erebus trailed her at a respectful distance, careful not to intrude, his gaze tracking her every move.

"I wish I could soar through the sky," she murmured joyfully, leaning into the mountain breeze.

No sooner had the words left her lips than the air stirred. A vast shadow soon blanketed the ground, covering even her spot.

Her breath caught as she spun around to face a colossal, breathtaking red dragon.

A gigantic and splendid red dragon loomed in terrifying splendor, its scales gleaming like burnished jewels in the sun. Every scale reflected light uniquely, sparking vivid crimson, liquid gold, and glowing ember hues, as though flames danced just below the surface.

Its enormous head blended majesty with terror, crowned by sweeping backward-curving horns. Sharp ridges outlined its features, encasing eyes ablaze with timeless wisdom and subtle command.

A mighty neck linked the head to its immense frame, shifting with serpentine poise despite the bulk. Each movement blended refinement with raw power.

Its huge taloned paws claimed the earth dominantly, each stride able to rumble the soil. The claws, robust and hooked, could rend rock like tissue.

It embodied not mere beast, but nature’s primal fury unleashed.

Seren thrilled at the awe-inspiring spectacle before her. A real dragon at last, and utterly magnificent. She felt tiny as an insect beside it. One talon dwarfed her entirely.

Its crimson eyes watched her as it bowed its head submissively. She caressed it, half-believing it all a fantasy.

The moment her fingers met the scales on its head, she whispered, "You’re incredible... the most stunning creature I’ve laid eyes on..."

Suddenly, an unseen force enveloped her. It raised her skyward, settling her precisely where neck met torso. She gripped the smaller scales there for balance, though the force secured her firmly.

"Are we flying now?" she asked, recalling Ember’s tales of riding Draven, eager for her own turn.

In reply, enormous red wings unfurled, propelling them aloft with a single mighty flap amid a roar that warned all nearby of the dragon’s flight.

Seren nearly shrieked at first from the frightful thrill, but soon savored the rush. They soared across the whole kingdom, revealing a red dragon’s presence to those below.

After her brief soak and doze in the hot spring, Erebus returned her to the cottage. As he set her on the bed, she warned, "If you dare mate with me right now...."

Yet Erebus had turned to the wooden wardrobe, retrieving a dress for her.

He chose without consulting her, since all her garments were red—his favored color for his mate, mostly suited for bedchamber wear.

’Does he intend to confine me here forever?’ Seren pondered. ’If yes, my spirit will flee this place eventually.’

She donned the dress without protest, grateful for clothes at last.

Sitting before the mirror, she glimpsed the bond mark at last: a violet bloom encircling a red dragon.

Her fingers traced it lightly, a grin spreading across her face. "It’s gorgeous," she said, eyeing Erebus as he prepared to style her long hair.

He glanced at the mark, then her, and nodded.

"Would it pain you to speak a word?" she muttered in a complaining tone.

"Beautiful," he uttered, "Seren."

Joy flooded her at hearing it, though she hid her thrill. "Yeah, I am."

Erebus styled her hair effortlessly.

"How do you know women’s hairstyles?" she asked via the mirror. "I bet no other woman has been with you."

"Mother," he replied.

He extended his hand, materializing a lovely wooden hairpin. Seren admired it. "It’s lovely. Where’d it come from?"

Silence met her as he stared.

Seren puzzled briefly, then guessed, "You crafted it?"

A slight nod confirmed it.

"Oh. Thank you so much for the trouble," she beamed at him.
