Witch's Daughter And The Devil's Son Chapter 780: I Have A Mother As Well
From the neighboring bedchamber, Drayce and Evanthe caught Seren's heartfelt outburst. The force of Seren's feelings struck Drayce deeply, prompting him to hurry towards her, but Evanthe softly clasped his hand. "Give them a bit more time, alright?"
Fists clenched tightly, Drayce restrained his urge to act. "She better not make Seren cry anymore. If she doesn't give Seren what she needs, I swear, I won't let that woman see her daughter ever again."
"Calm down," Evanthe whispered gently, patting his arm to ease his tension.

Witnessing Seren's emotional explosion and her desperate cry, Sierra swiftly drew her daughter into a firm hug. "Calm down, please. I'm sorry, alright? I've been a bad mother."
Still in tears, Seren questioned, "Are you doing this just so my anger doesn't activate the hellfire and cause harm?"
"No," Sierra answered softly, stroking Seren's shaking back to comfort her. "I'm doing this because I want to hold my daughter in my arms. I want to feel you, to imprint your existence in my heart."
Emotion thickened her voice as she pressed on. "I promise, I will be a good mother from now on. I'll make sure everyone knows you have a mother who's here for you—to care for you, to protect you, and to tend to your needs and even your tantrums. I'll do everything a mother should because I want to. I want my daughter."
Seren finally returned the embrace at those words, her tears falling unchecked. Sierra shed tears too as they held tight, mother and daughter finally joined together.
After they settled down, Sierra brushed tears from Seren's cheeks. "You should wear this robe now. Don't keep your mate waiting."
Seren nodded, letting her mother assist her into the red ceremonial robe.
"Red suits you," Sierra remarked with a warm smile.
"That's why I have a Red Dragon as my mate," Seren responded, a gentle smile curving her lips.
Sierra laughed lightly. "True. He's the perfect match for you."
Seren spun around while Sierra adjusted the robe's front, revealing peeks of Seren's red dress through the open sides. "Beautiful," Sierra whispered tenderly.
"Mother," Seren said, her voice soft but resolute. That word froze Sierra briefly—the first time Seren had used it. Battling her surging emotions, Sierra simply replied, "Hmm?"
"Who did this to you?" Seren asked softly.
"One of the goddesses from the heavenly realm," Sierra answered.
"I've heard that the deity of earth is the most beautiful woman in all the realms. Is that why this goddess did this to you? Was she jealous of your beauty?" Seren wondered, her gaze fixed on the hood concealing her mother's face.
Sierra chuckled softly. "Maybe."
"Won't you show me your face?" Seren asked gently, curiosity lacing her tone.
"I don't want you to remember me this way," Sierra replied tenderly, raising her hand to stroke Seren's cheek. "If you want to see me, just look in the mirror. You look so much like me."
"No wonder I'm so beautiful, then," Seren teased lightly, grasping her mother's hesitation and deciding not to press further.
A smile hid under Sierra's hood. "Shall we go? I'm sure your mate is desperate to see you."
Seren nodded, and they stepped out together to where Drayce and Evanthe waited.
Drayce's gaze instantly locked on Seren, radiant and more stunning than ever. Maybe the marking ceremony caused it, or the bliss now warming her heart. A soft smile graced his lips as he stared, etching her image into his mind. Soon, Erebus would stand by her side instead of him.
Seren rushed to him, wrapping him in a tight hug. Drayce gripped her equally strong, cherishing the embrace. She gazed up, eyes misty with feeling, yet her smile brimmed with contentment and joy.
"Dray, now I have a mother too," she whispered, her happiness gleaming through tearful eyes.
"Congratulations," he murmured softly, kissing her forehead. "I'm happy for you."
Sierra's heart swelled near to bursting with rushing emotions. She questioned her long delay in revealing herself. Her worries of rejection now appeared foolish errors. It had all come together effortlessly.
Standing next to Sierra, Evanthe glanced joyfully at Seren and commented, "I told you to tell her sooner."
"My mistake for not listening to you," Sierra confessed gratefully. "Thank you for pushing me to do it today."
"You owe me," Evanthe teased.
"I'll make sure to pay you back. What do you want?" Sierra inquired.
Evanthe paused thoughtfully before saying, "Maybe two jars of wine from Yorian. That stubborn elf won't even let me have a sip."
Sierra sighed. "Couldn't you ask for something easier? That elf is utterly stingy when it comes to his wine collection. But I must admit, it's better than any wine I've had, even in heaven. I'll try to get three jars instead."
"That'll do," Evanthe grinned in agreement. "Soon, I'll figure out where he hides his wine and steal some for both of us."
Overhearing the two women's banter, Drayce released Seren and shook his head in amusement. Their mothers remained so playful despite thousands of years alive.
He clasped Seren's hand, leading her forward while Evanthe and Sierra trailed behind, scheming already.
"It must be somewhere in the Moon Elf Clan since the High Elf Clan is in ruins now," Evanthe guessed.
"We'll have to visit his home, then. Maybe we'll find it there," Sierra suggested.
"He won't let anyone into his home," Evanthe frowned. "But if we fail, there's one person who could manage to get inside, and he wouldn't say no."
"Who?"
"Oriana. When she gets here, we can convince her to do it. She won't refuse us."
Sierra chuckled. "Love can make even the smartest person a fool, and Yorian's no exception. Poor elf, though. She already belongs to someone else."
Having eavesdropped on their quiet chat, Drayce glanced back slightly as he walked. "Don't let Arlan hear you talking like that, unless you want Yorian to end up buried deep underground, never to be seen again."
"I forget my son has sharp hearing," Evanthe sighed.
"So does Arlan," Drayce reminded her with a smirk.
The two women went quiet, sharing sheepish looks, and silently trailed the couple from the guest quarters to the council hall, where the marking ceremony would commence shortly.
